Cherry MX "Ghetto Greens" have been gaining in popularity recently for a couple reasons:

[*]They are basically a springier, heavier version of Cherry Blues
[*]They are much cheaper than purchasing "standard" Cherry Green switches
[/LIST]

To get "Ghetto Greens" you will need the following:

[*]Cherry MX Blue stems
[*]Cherry MX Black springs
[/LIST]

You can usually find these fairly cheap through fellow Geekhackers in the Classifieds.

I first discovered "Ghetto Greens" when I installed both "standard" green switches alongside "ghetto greens" in my NEO KB-87 keyboard. I found that the switches felt exactly the same and discovered that both the stems and springs were idential (aside from the color difference of the stems):

On a PCB-mounted switch keyboard, this mod is very easy to accomplish. On plate-mounted, it will be more difficult because you will need to de-solder all the switches from the plate and then solder the modded switches back in.

How does it feel? Well, like this:

But seriously, the feel of these switches is basically like a stronger/heavier Cherry blue. They are considered "manly" switches. If you are looking for a heavier blue, or even a Cherry switch that feels closer to a buckling spring, you might like this switch.

I tried it a month ago, and ended up going in the opposite direction for curiosity's sake -- I got a bag of springs and black sliders from Bini and ended up putting the black sliders on the blue springs that were already in my Poker. I don't think I can go back from ghetto reds now!

I did this to my Poker as well and I like it. I've also have some Clear springs on the way to try.

I've been using ghetto greens for about a month now. It feels amazing and took awhile to get used to. I'm not sure if my fingers are buff or if I just didn't type enough but there wasn't any problem with fatigue. I feel less prone to typos too since its harder to press down each key. I think an even manlier key would be Dark Grey 36 springs. They're obsolete but someone told me I could get them on Deskthority. I kinda want to try to see how they are with blue stems.

Basically anything with black or clear springs fatigues me too quickly.

I think greens are great. They do require more force to actuate than any other switch I currently own, but I haven't found them fatiguing so far. I'm a sucker for clicky keys though.

I was actually considering a spring swap between a blue and a black board. I had a Blackwidow and recall thinking I'd like blues more if they were a bit stiffer.

How do the black springs compare to clears? My current daily drivers are a stock clears board at home and a stock brown at work, but I'm finding I'd prefer something between browns and clears.

Clear springs are feeling a bit stiffer than black to me. I'd go brown/blue/red springs + clear stems for your "ergo clears".

blacks are a bit less resistance than clears. clears are pretty hefty, good for the keys you tend to hammer on; blacks are a really good compromise between the clears and blues

Am looking to possibly mod one of my pokers to ergo clears.. I have reds and getting a new brown board soon. Where (other than an ebay harvested cherry board) can I get some clear switches?
