That is insane.  If I had this at work, I would be carried aloft... and then thrown off the building.

Where and when can we buy them?  Is blue the only available LED color?

I see no problem with the other lighting modes, but the persistent toggle seems like a security issue.

I already said I would be buying one to collect but damn is it gaudy. I do like the individually addressable LED though.

It's not persistent mode. It is programmable lighting.

I asked Lin if she could verify whether it will be available with other switches. Browns or Reds would be nice. I'm down for a pre-order for one regardless. :llama:

Browns, Reds and Blues also available.  Getting one with Browns.  FTW!

I want it FOR the LEDs.  It's not going to replace any of my Topre boards as a 'daily driver', but those programmable LEDs are just too awesome to pass up.  I work on two computers in the office and have another computer as sort of a "guest" computer and it will go on the guest computer.  ;-)

No sir... you are not.

The idea that high-speed touch typing could lead to a seizure is ridiculously appealing for some reason.  It's like a suicide clutch on an old indian, pants-on-head-retarded, but oh so cool.

Those Tao Bao preorder was that for 4 months ago.

The final released day and price remain unknown.

I think once it release, I should have hand on it for all switches, I will open preorder once we have confirmed release day.

There are many mice with multicolor LEDs on the market right now, any reason why there is no such keyboard yet? Are those LEDs more expensive than normal ones or need some additional technology implemented?

because first there is the size issue. Only very small led can fit in the switchs, so any bigger leds will need to be put aside from the switch.

Then there is the energy problem. You need a lot of led to fully illuminate a keyboard. And USB has only a limited supply(expecially on a laptop). So you need very low voltage leds if you want to use a lot of them. Or your keyboard won't work because it needs too much energy supply on certain computer (a cheap usb hub, or a laptop, etc…)

Finally, you need a huge amount of I/O pins on your microcontroler to be able to control each led separately. This means a way more complicated PCB, and a more expensive microcontroller.

On a mouse, this is a lot easier, as you only have a few leds. Not ~100.
