Thanks oldcat for intermediating. Looks interesting as always, I hope to see more info as it becomes available. I hope we get the space65 in soon as we can see a real life example of just how good the airpotter quality is!

Dammit.. I didnt know I needed a TKL...
In the wise words of SeniorFeline, "All in!"

Neat. Curious to see what kind of gasket mounting will be used.

Wow, the most distinctive TKL design from now.
-
Very much in on this. Really cool design. I’m a sucker for LED’s in the dead space above the arrow keys!
-
What are the chances of alps compatibility
-
Really appreciate what this studio is doing these day. Maybe my first TKL?
-
Diggin this!
-
Damn this looks sexy! Is there going to be an option to get a custom nameplate for the top right? I really love the look!
-
Whoa hot damn!
-
Love me some Potter and DEMO
-
Been loving the looks of TKLs recently and then Demo and Potter come to answer my prayers! All in :)
-
Looks sooo good :thumb:

2. Fully customizable Dual-mode PCB
What's "Dual-Mode" mean? :)
-
This is nice looking board, reminds me of the Matrix Abel. Hopefully PCB (or at least the LED near the nav cluster) is programmable.
What kind of plate are we looking at? Also, got an approximate target price?
-
Not digging the "Demo Studio" up the top right, seems a bit too much branding for the front of the board. Everything else is great. Are the colors on the sides and back RGB?
-
Looks great besides the “Demo Studio” branding imo.
-

I think it's USB & bluetooth

that’s a little plastic badge I believe, I agree as well. Any suggestions for the badge?

I tend to prefer when the branding is on the bottom of the board in the form of a larger badge or weight. I think the Demo Studio badge could just be removed honestly. I love the overall design of this board and will be following the IC and hopefully the GB closely!
-
Wow just beautiful! Hope I can join this.
-
Painfully good looking board. Price estimate?
Edit: don't like the branding format, come up with a logo or something.
-
I am not of fan of having Company Branding staring me in the face, so not really a fan of the logo on the Top right. I personally feel that "if" there is to be any wording on the face of the Board, it should be the "NAME" of the board and the Branding should be on the bottom.
Other than that, this looks like a really nice TKL, looking forward to more pics.
-
I never thought id see a keyboard that is uglier than a Razer keyboard with RGB
but I stand corrected cause this is brutal

Totally agree, I also feel the badge doesn’t look very good with “demo studio”
Will pass this feedback to Demo and Potter

How about this?
-
For the record, I don't mind the badge. Maybe you could make it customizable? Let users choose what it says or have it removed?
-
For me, it's the difference between a badge which is supposed to draw your attention, compared to an engraving without infill that is a little more subtle. I think if the badge was customizable like Exclusive does, it would go over a lot better.
I think the design looks nice, but like some of the others have said - I'm not crazy about the badge/branding.
-
Who will be manufacturing this?
-
Looking nice!
-
as i said on Instagram, ill be in looks awesome, and i wanted a gasket mount 80 so it fits the bill nice, what colors you thinking of doing it in?
-
Who will be manufacturing this?
Seeing as it's a collaboration between Demo and Airpotter from Gray Studio... probably Gray Studio, so same manu as COD67, HB85, SPACE65, and THINK6.5. (I believe it's owned by Potter's brother if I remember correctly)

Puddsy remembering incorrectly? that would certainly be a first.

Gray and Alf are two different studios
-
As long as it either offers or supports a more 'universal' plate and/or PCB which allows things like split spacebar and HHKB style backspace/right-shift, this looks really tempting.
-
great looking design . nice collab!
-
Following for sure! Clean look
-
Fresh looking design. Probably in if there's ISO support :)
-
if logo on the upper right corner is removed, that would be awesome.
-
if logo on the upper right corner is removed, that would be awesome.
I hope there will be a option for that.
-
Interesting design overall, I can see inspirations from Canoe and SKOG here and there.
Any exploded view available? Seems like the colored piece is the plate? But then the green on the side in the 3rd picture is confusing, almost looks like the green is painted on there.
Content on the Badge
I like the idea of having a badge there, but I think it needs more options. Nothing against Demo Studio, I think it's a great name. But if I were to show the keyboard to someone who is not familiar with the hobby, I might get asked if it is a demo unit. Personalized badges may be too much work to deal with, but how about creating a poll for a list of options, and make the top 5 or so available?
Shape of the Badge
The oval-shaped badge seems a little out of place and disconnected to the nearby curves of the keyboard. I think it would look a lot more coherent if the left side of the badge is at an angle that matches the end of the plate, and the right side of the badge is a quarter circle that matches the top right corner of the bottom case.
Structure of the Badge
I think the screws and screw holes on the transparent badge don't go well with the overall aesthetic of the keyboard. If the badge is not transparent, I would prefer the screw holes to be at the back of the badge and mounted through the bottom case. If the badge is transparent, I would prefer the badge to be held in the spot through a tolerance fit or even double sided tape would work.
LED Slot on Top of Arrow Cluster
I am not sure what the designer's vision is for the slot, but when I look at it, it looks like it is trying to mimic the top part of the case. I think it would look better if the slot uses the same geometries of the top part of the case where the colored plate shows. Maybe also expanding the length of the slot to match the ratio of how much plate is showing on top of the keyboard.

Quick post on 2 points clarified by Demo.
Will be under 400. Possibly under 350.
Badge file will be released after. So anyone can make custom if they want.
-
I’ll be in if under $350, even though I’ve spent all my budget for the year :(
-
That's a great tkl design you got there. I'm definitely interested if the price isn't past 400.
-
How about hot swap pcb ? There are almost no tkls out there - except the drop ctrl with hot swap.
Definatelly very interessted - after think 6.5 was a real nice gb

100% under 400

Can switch LEDs be soldered on PCB or not?

Gasket only on one side?
-
Gasket only on one side?
The plate is designed to be mounted to the bottom (like Canoe) with gaskets in between the plate and the bottom. So in theory another top gasket will not affect the typing feel.
That said, Potter and demo said double-sided gaskets can be done easily if that is preferred by the community.

Roughly, how many kits will be available? Any chance of doing raffle style instead of the nonsense FCFS?

FCFS is much less 'nonsense' than raffle.

Depends on what you think of as nonsense: several GBs lately have been open for a minute or two before hitting max quantity. FCFS prioritizes fast typists with fast internet with free time in a convenient time zone, and I’m sure plenty of folks consider that prioritization to be nonsense.
-
Nonsense is anything shouted by the ones who didn't get in.

I think it would be cool if there where an option to have a light pipe for the badge.
What colors options will there be? I might possibly get this in black and pair it with Laser.

Black should definitely be an option! There will be a few colorways available I believe. I will let Demo comment on this

Silver looks great, I am in!

A quick update: we incorporated the GH and discord community's suggestion, and the Arc80 now features a double-sided gaskets design

Plenty of folks would also consider getting a medal, for winning a competition, nonsense. Instead of punishing those who did well, these "folks" should focus on making sure that they can make it next time. We can't all be winners.

What if I told you that many of the limited availability items are sold before the webstore opens, or are snapped up by bots (which operate faster than you can do by hand...)

Nah I'm good. I'll just keep buying keebs instead of trying to come up with random arguments to make me feel better about not getting into a GB.

Unless the GB runner explicitly says that a specific behavior isn't allowed, everything is fair game.

Technically it's fair game for scalpers who use bots to sell out concert tickets to flip them too... doesn't make it much fun to be a fan of something...

Nah I'm good. I'll just keep buying keebs instead of trying to come up with random arguments to make me feel better about not getting into a GB.
- You're assuming that I've got some kind of beef about not getting into a FCFS GB, which is absolutely not the case; I'm pretty new to this community and nothing has been quite what I wanted, so I've never even tried to get into a FCFS GB (or a raffle for that matter)
- I literally only stated what each of those methods prioritized and gestured at the fact other members of this community feel differently from you about those methods
- The literal concept of a limited sale already asserts your claim of "We can't all be winners" regardless of how that sale is conducted. Your statement was not in any way related to the concept that was presented
- You can't "do well" in a raffle; that's sort of the entire point. Therefore, you can't be punished for doing well
I never even tried to argue that I personally prefer raffles to FCFS; I live in a pretty decent timezone for most of this stuff, so I have the privilege to not be particularly affected by these things. It sounds like you're in a similar boat, whether that is due to the timezone in which you live or the way you've structured your life; that's pretty great for you, and I'm glad you can get the boards you want to get! Other folks don't necessarily have the privileges we have, but I don't think their lack of those privileges means they shouldn't get the nice things we can get. I think looking out for folks who have less privilege than yourself and listening to them when they feel like things are conducted in a way that is unfair to them is an important aspect of building and maintaining any community.

You're assuming that I've got some kind of beef about not getting into a FCFS GB, which is absolutely not the case;
I ain't assuming anything. None of my comments are directed to anyone in particular. Hence the regular use of "those".
I'm pretty new to this community and nothing has been quite what I wanted
Welcome :). It's always nice to have new faces around.
so I've never even tried to get into a FCFS GB (or a raffle for that matter)
I'm sure you'll eventually find something that tickles your fancy.
I literally only stated what each of those methods prioritized and gestured at the fact other members of this community feel differently from you about those methods
Great. It's always nice to have different opinions being voice. Hail to freedom of speech.
The literal concept of a limited sale already asserts your claim of "We can't all be winners" regardless of how that sale is conducted.
So we're in aggressive agreement.
You can't "do well" in a raffle; that's sort of the entire point. Therefore, you can't be punished for doing well.[/li][/list]
If the justification for running a raffle is that most people feel outlied than you'd be indeed punishing the ones that were "doing well", on the FCFS model, by being faster or smarter by using bots.
I never even tried to argue that I personally prefer raffles to FCFS;
Nor have I ever said that you did.
I live in a pretty decent timezone for most of this stuff, so I have the privilege to not be particularly affected by these things.
Great. Good luck (probably not the best expression given the context) when you do enter one .
It sounds like you're in a similar boat, whether that is due to the timezone in which you live or the way you've structured your life;
I'm in a horrible timezone for most FCFS. They usually go live between 1am and 6am for me.
Other folks don't necessarily have the privileges we have, but I don't think their lack of those privileges means they shouldn't get the nice things we can get.
Neither do I. But complaining and blaming the model instead of adjusting yourself is recipe for endless frustration and long GH rants. Neither will get them pretty boards.
I think looking out for folks who have less privilege than yourself and listening to them when they feel like things are conducted in a way that is unfair to them is an important aspect of building and maintaining any community.
This is where we disagree. Fairness has nothing to do with it. Everyone has their own personal definition of fairness and it's a constant struggle that will never end. So instead of trying to reach this unachievable goal we should make sure that GB runners can do better at providing more boards then more people can have pretty boards on their desks.

FCFS doesn't bother me but the real question is what is meant by "limited". If you mean limited like say other GB that consist of 20keebs, where you have stuff selling out in less than 30 secs?
However if you mean limited GB like say 100-150 keebs, than thats is fine; as that would give those who want to get the board to actually have more than a few secs to try and get them.
Any Idea on how man they are planning on?

Still waiting on an answer to this. If it's a reasonable number of units I'll be in but I'm not gonna waste time trying to outtype a bunch of other people for 20 slots.
Demo said either 50 or 100 I think.
Should see this full speed ahead to GB stage once all Space65 are shipped.
Really hoping for 100 or more, I wanna join the GB.

My body is ready.

Is this the same thing as the percent studio volt?

The design is quite a bit different.

I hope for a black top and a red bottom, my inner weeb wants his basic aesthetic 🙈
-
I think the tkl logo design is looks better on first revision simple and unique
simple line and naming instead big logo

interested
-
I really like the board except for the branding on the top right corner.
-
Very interested in this!
-
I'm definitely in for this if there is a rat's chance of getting one. Also not going to waste my time trying to get an order in the first 2 minutes.
-
So interested in this!
-
Interested in this, will be in if it goes through.
-
A bit too late for this suggestion considering prototyping is done/almost done, but would really love to see a wkl option for this board. would make it a 100% buy at that price and with those features.
-
I think it has been asked but not answered. Will there be ISO as an option?
-
I would buy this if the pcb was hot swap, I love the design.
-
I'm so in this one!
-
I need a TKL in my collection

Here's a warning from the Think6.5 GB which was also produced by GrayStudio. Avoid to save yourself a headache
"So many problems in this GB has arisen. The board is amazing but the logistics have been a nightmare.
First of all the GB runner Oldcat seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth, leaving all the communication duties to his moderator on discord. On Graystudio's side, shipping has constantly been pushed back with little to no updates from Potter even after deadlines have been crossed. I've paid the shipping invoice over a month ago and still have no idea when the board will be shipped out. Potter claims he would have shipped it out 2 weeks ago but continues to cover it up with excuses.
Second of all the pcbs (especially the hotswap ones) have had tons of issues. There has been reports of LEDs malfunctioning, diodes soldered in the wrong direction, and hotswap sockets not soldered on properly. The whole point of hotswap pcbs is to lower the barrier of entry in this hobby and eliminate soldering for newcomers. The hotswap socket issues force new users in the community to buy soldering tools to fix the mistakes made by Graystudio. I cannot endorse GrayStudio any longer. This isn't the first time. Space65's shipping was a sh*tshow as well. Save yourself a headache and avoid this manufacturer. I will reiterate this on GrayStudio's future group buy threads to warn others. "

Nice but not a fan of the top right badge either.

I love that blue-ish green lighting!

I'd be in for this if it's still going.

Sorry for not updating this project for DemoS.
Demo said he already prototyped twice and was fixing some minor issues. He is also working on the small badge the the light strip. There will be a GB in China slated for 6/6, he said he will also make it available for International. And Demo will be running the GB afaik.

happy news, thought this was dead.

Thank you all for your interest
There are some improvements by taking into account of your feedback. I will update some new renders soon and a third prototype will be made early-mid May.
The project will move forward from here.

Hi Oldcat87! Are you still doing this project with DemoS, in parallel with the Think 6.5v2?
-
Looking really nice, I'll probably join ;D
-
PK so hold the phone. If this thing actually comes alive again I want my GB slot confirmed now. I have been waiting on this forever. Please make it happen.

What is the status of this project, Demo/oldcat?

What is the status of this project, Demo/oldcat?
im not oldcat nor potter nor demo, but seeing as how the thinkv2 GB just ended and production for that just started with the Space R2 almost shipping, i don't think this will pick up until at least when the thinkv2 is almost ready to ship.
-
Consider adding as 2nd layout wkl :)
-
also maybe add the customization to add different tops and bottom as extras :D
-
100% interested if WKL is available
-
Was looking for a good TKL, this looks perfect!
-
interested!

And it's going to be here for a while I reckon

Very interested, great design. Just please go with model name "ARC80" at best, not "Demo Studio": premium product schould not have any brending on it
