I can't see myself using this thing very often -- I mainly bought it because it is so bazaar. It's made by Alps, so that's kind of cool, even though these flopped.

The (sealed) box says, "The next generation of desktop pointing devices." 90210 didn't have that much up-talking in it.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that with you guys.

That's one thing I do agree with.  However, I think it is the touchpads that have been sold in the past year or so that are finally significantly better.

Like the Acer laptops where the trackpad has the same finish as the rest of the laptop.  (as well as the new Apple glasspads)  No more oily trackpads!

That is bizarre. I have had zero trouble with mine and I have had it since before this forum went live. My favorite thing about it is that the box said it won't work on Mac. Cheap bastards just don't want to support Mac.

I still love the mouse, but I am thinking it's time for something new. I mean, I have had about 40 keyboards since I bought that mouse. The math isn't adding up there.

I personally have had nothing but bad experiences with Razer products and will not allow them in the house so nerrr.

I'm using one of the best pointing devices I've ever used right now. Downside is, the only keyboards with a genuine example were either rubber domes, or rubber dome+scissor switch. (The SpaceSaver II, and a couple of UltraNav travel keyboards.)

(Although, the TrackPoint II isn't bad, which allows for the Model M13, and the Unicomp pointing stick is acceptable.)

Call me slow, but I have just recently discovered the left/right scrolling of the tilt wheel on MS mice (and others, for sure).  I also like the smooth scrolling and scrolling acceleration on MS mice as well.  While the smooth scrolling is great for work, I still prefer clicky scroll wheels for games.  If you are looking for something that is ergonomic like a trackball but ina regular mouse format, check out the MS Natural Mouse 6000.  See my review in this forum for more details.  This really helped some wrist pain I was developing due ro regular mouse usage.

Trackpoints rule.  Best integrated pointing device by a mile.  I find the M4-1's (mighty mouse) a joy to type on...so that is a great solution for a keyboard with integrated trackpoint.

I have heard lots of good things about the Microsoft mice, maybe I will check one out.

I use razer mice myself(copperhead for work and the habu for home), they are decent but are too shaky for slow work compared to my old mice. I heard the DeathAdder is better in this respect.

I plan to get the DeathAdder for use on my Mac for another reason and that reason is that razer developed a driver for it to completely remove the acceleration OS X puts on all mice connected to it. With fast accurate mice, adding acceleration is unnecessary and makes me inaccurate, but it is useful for slow mice on large desktops.

I plan to also get a large trackball weighing between getting a kensington supermouse and the logitech I have no Idea which will suit me better though.

I'm going to have to disagree with all of you Logitech fans.  This is the epitome of trackballs:

...is the fact that they are two-fingered pointing devices.  Notice that the original Trackman Marble and Trackman Marble Wheel are three-fingered devices (not counting the thumb, of course).

I right click with my ring finger, middle click (and scroll wheel) with my middle finger, and left click with my pointer finger.

Well, you take what you can get.  It's not perfect (love the 3-button trackpoints), but still is "mighty" fine.

The MS Trackball Optical is a four button mouse, so I really don't miss a middle-click.  The MS Wireless Laser Mouse 5000 (1000 DPI!!!) that I'm using now is five button + a scroll wheel, which I enjoy more than a middle click.

It's not the functionality of the middle click (which both those above-references trackballs have), it's the ergonomics of my finger placement.
