This set I'm running specifically to pleasure my taste. I've always been interested in photography. I grew up using a polaroid camera, having all these polaroid films laying around brings back tons of memories. That's why I've decided to dedicate this set to that theme.

Gonna be real for a moment, I had to google what this even meant and why things were the way they were to be able to give some actual feedback and not harp on things others have brought up. Not too great of a look, to be fair.Well, he does like his sublegends. Besides, Aperture is taken.
That being said, if the set is about photography or cameras, why does it have to be Japanese? Surely, and I'm just spitballing here, the set could've just been called 'Aperture' without sublegends, and maybe some more thought into presenting it as a more fully fleshed out interest check. For some bit of more constructive criticism, or rather for something neat because photography is a passion, hobby, and past means of making ends meet for me, why not also have a novelty function row with the legends "f/1, f/2" and so on? Think that might be a winner if possible and would tie the set together more than just sublegends and pulled logos for novelties.
Best of luck with this one.

To use an icon in items for resale (such as Tshirts, phone cases, stickers, mugs), you must purchase a license for each icon using the individual purchase feature and Pay $2.99. Pre-paid credit, NounPro or NounTeam accounts may not be used to download icons for items for resale. One icon license purchased may be used for up to 100 units of product.
For example, if you're selling 500 Tshirts with the same icon design, you will need to purchase 5 icon licenses (500 Tshirts / 100 units per license).
If you're unsure if your items are considered Resale or Commercial use, please read here (https://thenounproject.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/200509908-Can-I-use-icons-for-Commercial-Use-).
The biggest differentiating factor is that in Items for Resale, the icon creates the substantial value of the product.
For example: if you print a book on iconography and use icons throughout the book, the icons make up the value of the book and therefore it is considered an item for Resale. However, if you use icons to designate the sub-section in the book, or to illustrate an infographic, that is considered Commercial Use. In both cases, the book can be available for sale, the biggest determining factor is what is contributing most to its value.

Thanks for that link! I decided to look through Noun Project FAQ and found some pretty interesting paragraphs;
The first is from here (https://thenounproject.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/200562967-Can-I-use-icons-in-Items-for-Resale-)QuoteTo use an icon in items for resale (such as Tshirts, phone cases, stickers, mugs), you must purchase a license for each icon using the individual purchase feature and Pay $2.99. And the second is from here (https://thenounproject.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/200509908-Can-I-use-icons-for-Commercial-Use-) (emphasis mine in the below quote)QuoteThe biggest differentiating factor is that in Items for Resale, the icon creates the substantial value of the product.
For example: if you print a book on iconography and use icons throughout the book, the icons make up the value of the book and therefore it is considered an item for Resale. Now, I am not a lawyer, but I'd argue that the Noun Project icons do create the substantial value of the novelty kit. With 5 icons per kit and two instances of each, some quick mafs ($3 * 5 * 2)/100 tells us that OP should be paying $0.30 per nov kit sold. As long as he does this (which I'm not implying is not already his plan), he is free to use them sans attribution.
Otherwise, cool to see MoDo Dark running
maybe some more thought into presenting it as a more fully fleshed out interest check
the set could've just been called 'Aperture'

woah where's this hustle by you guys for those non licensed anime/video game sets?
the set could've just been called 'Aperture'
Aperture as a name doesn't work because it would cause people to confuse it with a Portal game themed keycap set.
A japanese name suits the set given that it has sublegends.
And the theme fits. Most of the cameras during the analog photography age came from japan anyways.

are you literally joking? how is this not as fleshed out as possible for a interest check? he even has vendors in it already. :confused:the set could've just been called 'Aperture'

You do know how doubleshot keycaps work?
Something like this would require an entire set of new molds for the F-row and that would make the set a significant bit more expensive.

1. No, and I'm going to be thorough with my response as I feel it did not have the right tone before, nor did it fully convey my thoughts. Fully fleshed out in this day and age to me means more than posting a few renders of kits and listing vendors. Describe to me the idea. I don't want to have to go and Google the name of the kit in order to have some vague understanding of what the idea is. I'm not the designer of the set. While I can piece together it is photography themed based on the novelties, in what aspect does it tie in? Is it a general photography themed set? Does it have to do with a specific Japanese photographer? Was the designer inspired by more monochromatic photography? Tell me the thought process, the story, the reasoning behind why this kit should exist like the 40 other sets that get posted on a daily basis (slight exaggeration, but the point remains). Simply showing me renders with a list of vendors does some weird psychology thing to me. I want to learn, I want to experience the same thought process, I want to feel like the designer of the set cares enough to express that thought process.
Edit: There is a picture at the bottom now that has a small blurb about the set. Either it wasn't there earlier or for some reason, that image did not load for me, so this point is now moot in my eyes.
2. Aperture as a name for a photography themed set does work if the above is done. Expand upon the idea, explain the name, the process, and people won't think of Portal when they see GMK Aperture. Not only that though, but it was literally the first thought I had. Could've easily called it GMK Focal Length, GMK Full Frame, GMK Prime, GMK 35mm, and so on. But, instead, it's GMK Shashin which does work with the sublegends, but only after a search of Google was that apparent to me, a self described idiot.
3. No, I don't know much about the manufacturing side of things, but I do know that new molds do get made. While sure, it will make the kit more expensive, it was simply an idea to throw out. Then again, must have missed over the part right after that says: "Think that might be a winner if possible" meaning, to me, "I have doubts it could be done, but it would be pretty rad if it could."

P.S. There's a typo in the image at the bottom that explains the name of the set, you called it Shanshin haha.
I like these colours and the way your presented the IC, though the Japanese is a little bit random. People don't normally associate photography to Japan, but sublegends are always nice I guess! Not really sure what to suggest since this IC looks pretty much like just an announcement that it's happening, but if you could make the novelties more interesting to tie Japan and photography together that would be rad. Thanks for the reply, and thanks for noticing! Fill fix :thumb:

Or make the set be ISO-DE as a tribute to the king of glass, Zeiss. Makes just about the same amount of sense to me.

Dig the colors used. Would've preferred to have either sublegends or Latin as smaller alt kit instead of a whole base to help with MOQ and price. IC form wouldve also been appreciated.Hey! Not sure if this has been asked before, but the novelty for the enter key, what does the 1,2,3 supposed to be? I would love an aperture ring themed enter key.Hey! The 1,2,3 novelty for the R3 Ansi Enter is supposed to symbolize the exposure indicator found in most camera hud's!

Looks interesting. Are these stock colours - CR, N9, WS1?Correct! All stock, CR, N9 and WS1 as you listed :thumb:
clean set is a clean set. the "theme" feels like an afterthought... to which is true after reading all of this lol
the novelties leave much to be desired. literally the bare minimum in reference to the theme. since the graphics reference a sort of "dark room" i am assuming this theme is more related to the black and white film side of photography? could dive even further into "street photography" when i think of "japanese" and "street photography" daido moriyama comes to mind; extremely stark black and white work. film has so many aspects one can use: exposure, develop, stop, dodge/burn, etc...
anyways good luck with the set its got lots of potential. at the end of the day, no one really cares about theme lore. its already a clean set.
super hot deskmat
100% in for this subtle beauty!
Love the novelties

Hmm, on the other hand these images are similar because they are ubiquitous though - they reference a set of icons so commonplace that any argument of copying might as well be moot.

Hope there is enough response for OP to reconsider adding Latin Base back into the options.
I appreciate the support on the Latin base kit. The reasoning why this was replaced with the Latin alpha kit as for now, is because I and the vendors rather wanted to reach a higher MOQ on one of the base kits. That way we can try to adjust the pricing and make it more pleasing for you guys. Also ranging from feedback from the google form, the Hiragana Base was leading with over 20% in votes, so that was an easy choice to decide which base to keep.
This being said, it is very hard to please everyone, but I'm trying my best. Once we submit quotes to GMK, we will throw in all kits, to see what we can do. The Latin base isn't gone yet, it's still a possibility that we might run with it, but this will all be taken into consideration! Thanks

Thanks for your reply and effort! As someone whose first language is an alphabet that has never been offered by GMK or any other premium manufacturer, I feel somewhat strongly about using keycaps with legends from languages that I do not speak. I recognize that many people appreciate "exotic" sublegends regardless of whether they understand that language for practical purpose, but I think it is also ethical to reflect on how you're using someone else's language as a way to fill an aesthetic space. Not trying to specifically call out anyone else's preferences as problematic, sorry that is not my intention at all. I just wanted to share the reason for why I am asking for a Latin base, others asking for a Latin base may of course have different reasons.
Personally I think the Hiragana sub legends in base kit make a lot of sense considering so many camera brands are from Japan (and the name of the set, mats etc).
Also a big fan of higher MOQ sets, which makes them more affordable and hard to do when running 2 base kits. I understand running 2 base kits, if the IC results are close to 50/50, but over 20% lead for Hiragana is fairly significant.
Hoping we get a Rama soon :thumb:
nice set, what is the iso hhkb keyboard in the first picture?
Sad to see latin base go... I like this set but unfortunately am out if without the latin base as im not willing to pay extra for the alphas.
this is officially my favourite set, this looks so so good maaan :eek:Appreciate the support!
Thank you for adding 65%-focused novelties! Really hoping for a RAMA collab :thumb:Will try to sort that out for you!
nice looking set, and i think the japanese tie-in makes sense. classic names like canon, nikon, pentax, contax, ricoh, olympus, fuji, and on and on. glwic!Appreciate the support!
Looks Great S3LQ, All the drama and complaint aside. it's safe to say you nailed the design!Appreciate the support Alfred!
Will definitely get one! GLWIC!Appreciate it!
The colorway is great and the novelties look surprisingly good, BUT! with this set those tiny tiny Hiragana sub-legends just doesn't work at all imho, I don't get it, why make them so small? I'd go full Hiragana (no sub legends) base kit and Alphas base kit and everybody is happy, problem solved, right?Hey, thanks for your reply! Wish the decision was this easy. We are still waiting on a reply for the GMK quote, once that arrives we will see what the bet price/moq options will be. Once that's settled we will decide upon what kits to bring on to the GB!
Will the live date be pushed since there is still no pricing?
gmk seems to be begging for other manu's to step up with ongoing delays. i know i'm much more interested in epbt at this point. i really like this set but the thought of waiting for delivery until 3Q22, at best, is not on my list of things to do. very sorry for your situation.I can understand your decision. We are patiently waiting on the new quote, once that arrives we will sort pricing and set a new date! Hopefully, GMK also improves their manufacturing time as there were rumours about.
The IC page looks so dark, but overall I really love this set. Simplistic. I just hoped that the Japanese sub legends were an add-on instead of the alphas as add-on, but that's just "personal preference" as with everything in this hobby. Hope this GB runs successfully!!!Latin base is still in the discussion of being included for the sale. As a thank you for your patience regarding the delay, I will try to include that!
A ton of complaining on this thread, but I personally love the set as it is with sublegends. I am super excited for this! Best of luck to you.Everything sorted out, but thanks for the support!
We can't quote this because we have not received all of the vector files yet from the lead vendor. Once we receive all the materials required for the quote we will process it right away :thumb:
Personally I really dig this set! Great design work. I will do what I can to get this processed ASAP once we get all the renders and materials in!
EDIT: S3QL has sent me the files directly, so I will be working on this right away to try to get the quotes our for this set!
Excited to see this! Gives a little more dimension than a standard WOB and I love the simple photography theme. The image with the Fujifilm also caught me, as that's the brand I use. Good job! Can't wait to see the coming updates!Appreciate the support! :p
So any updates? We are in contact with GMK regarding quotes for the new adjustments we had to do with the novelty kit. We've delivered our part, now waiting for an answer from them.
