Time 80 was the second design of Fox Lab back in 2017.
It has also become an iconic keyboard design of Fox Lab.
If there’s a keyboard that I would like to run a round 2 GB, it’s the Time 80.
Not only I want to make it available to more people again, but also I can perfect the original design.
Here comes the Time 80% RE (Reforged) version.
Time80RE kept most of the original weight design.
The clock has become thinner now and has a tempered glass cover.
The front height of the keyboard has greatly reduced for optimizing for comfort.
The ratio between the top and bottom cases has been adjusted for a cleaner side view.
Top mount split plate.
As the intention is to keep the classic design and improve it, I used the top mounting structure but with a novel plate design, the split plate.
The plate of Time80RE has been cut into halves between R2 and R3.
After the switches are soldered, both halves of the plate are attached to the PCB assembly.
The top mounted plate has no metal bridge between R2 and R3 which results in a much softer bottom out.
The split plate design was inspired by the half plate design and leaf spring mount design.
The current design in the renders is under prototyping.
I will test the prototype by myself and send one for reviewing if possible.

Anodization, E-coating, PVD, polycarbonate, and POM are all available.
I’ve noticed that E-white and matte clear PC are the most popular options, but I’d like to diversify the options as much as possible.
Powder coating will also be available this time. I’ve got prototypes from 7 factories and selected one with the best quality.
