When was that?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It started in 600 AD and it's just getting sorted now.

I joined just before r00tw0rm, if that puts anything into perspective.  At that stage I was still learning about MX, Topre, Korean keyboards (from Korea, no less!), and R.I.P.ster was still rampant.

And somewhere in all that I seem to have missed R4.

As far as I know this is still on hold until the Cherry legend project is done. No update on that thread either, but they should be real close to the goal, last time I checked about $1000 were needed, but then there was an auction that raised around $700, so... closer than ever  :D

Thank you for the quick response. Maybe you or someone else could help me out with the following question.

I've just purchased and received a Keycool 87 keyboard, and am interested and purchasing the Toxic Base Mod kit as well as the Winkeyless Toxic Mod kit. These keys will infact fit the board I own, or is there something I am missing?

You don't need winkeyless for the Keycool 87, but get it anyway. And yes, the base set will fit your Keycool 87. :)

yes, definitely thin. Thick doubleshots would have to be a GMK product, and unless the plans have changed, we're not considering GMK for this buy because it would raise the MOQ, the price per set, and I don't think there is space in GMK's production schedule. Also, we've already had SP order a custom color for us, and prototyped a couple of the special keys for this set (beaker, bubbles). The current wait is because we've decided to wait for the Cherry replica font to be ready for use. The cost of producing these legends I believe is very close to being done, but a different set will be the first to use the font, followed by Toxic. So, we're in a holding pattern, but the buy is still open for orders. Unless I'm mistaken, we are past the point where we are taking suggestions for sets/keys to add to the buy.

I'm not affiliated with the organization of this buy, this is just what I know based on following the thread for a couple months.

Bout the iso kit, is the enter blank as in the mock ups? Also winkeyless mod kit has 1.5xs right? And the spacebar? Is it 7x, or up to ones choosing?

the winkeyless set has 1.5x mods and a 7.x spacebar. I don't know for sure, but I would assume the iso kit mockup is accurate in terms of legends. IIRC a legended ISO enter mold would cost us like ~$3500.

If I am not mistaken Klaxon and CCnG R2 had ISO Enter keys with legends, so there shouldn't be any costs for new molds.

I'm a noob an interested!
So I read the rules and the s/h as well.

I just ordered a KBT Pure (Green backlit), would the base kit work properly with that keyboard?
I understand the light wont shine through the keys.

I'm just worried about the odd right shift and tilde on the KBT Pure. Any info is appreciated.

Also, are there any pics for the vendor key set?

You might be okay. The pure needs a 1.75 width right shift. I don't see it mentioned anywhere but the shift key in the winless mods set looks to be the same width at the caps lock key which is typically a 1.75 width key.

Yea thats what I noticed as well. Hoping that means I'll be covered :o
I also noticed the winless mods set has an extra tilde. Hm

These look real nice.. So orders are open until after Cherry replica set is complete? Sorry, not really sure what this means >.>
(If theres a guide somewhere about groupbuys, I'll go read it lol)

Plenty of time - still taking orders :)
