Aaaargh. So sick. I love it. Pretty sure I’ve seen you post those shiny pom caps before as well. They’re almost wet look. Like PVC. Looks like a keyboard from a fetish mag.

Is it just me or has the OG Korean board post quotient ramped up a little since someone posted their UTD?

Have a friend who found an ANSI one in the UK for like 50 quid as recently as a month or so ago, so it's definitely possible to find one there.

For something completely different:

Singa Jaguar

  • FR4 plate
  • Black Ink V2 + 205g0
  • catweewee 55g springs + Victorinox multi-tool oil
  • Deskeys films
  • Durock smoke stabilizers + Krytox XHT-BDZ
  • GMK Red Alert (2015)

Was lucky enough to get in on the recent clear polycarbonate Jaguar drop. Elaine really does a great job with these boards: the dual-finish brushed/sandblasted weight, 2mm alu/polycarb plates, compatibility with both USB mini and USB-C a.87 PCBs, and foam cutout to reveal the inner engraving (absent from my photos) are all details that demonstrate how much thought went into this design.

My only critique is that the Jane V1 plate can be a little stiff around the spacebar for me -- I much prefer the Koala-style 7-point mount. Only using the 4 corner plate screws with FR4 gives it just enough give to be comfortable though, and FR4 sounds great with Inks. I have the o-ring around the assembly, but am keeping it top-mount. I found the o-ring made the mounting too stiff, a softer durometer like the one found on the Jane V2 CE might help with that, but the board isn't designed to be o-ring mounted. Very cool to have an o-ring included to experiment with.

Very nice, I like the choice of tsangan, no blockers

Which boards are you referring to? OG kustoms just seem, well... manufactured in small batches way back so it ends up more of a collector's item.

LZ is a different animal because he is still around and producing

many of the original kustoms are actually objectively worse than modern ones and anyone who says otherwise has clearly never used AIKON

some of them were actually produced in batch sizes that we'd find considerable even today, it's just that the people who have them have had them forever and either don't know or don't care what they're worth, so they move a lot less often

whereas something like a TGR was made pretty recently and rose in value much more quickly, so people tend to be willing to sell them more

but tl;dr is just "clout"

In regards to the older boards: It's clout for some. It's history, reverence and nostalgia for others.

Damn that's glorious. I don't know if I ever posted my R1 UNIKORN in here but now seems the perfect time I guess. Not as fully rounded as your build with the matching switches and cable and the lovely photos but anyway:

10 months later I built my Montage with jwk penguins, they're a little too slow for my taste so gonna rebuild as soon as I can be bothered

with LZ-S up top, very boring configuration I know but imagine how many sets of these I have

Feels like a top mount.

A little bit more rigid than I'm used to due to having more mounting points though. Very classic, unoffensive Korean feeling as far as typing goes.

Bottom edges are way too sharp though jesus
