Title: NMB Naming
Post by: Magna224 on Wed, 25 January 2012, 02:04:08
What is the NMB naming scheme? Most of them end in T/W/TW/C but do those give off any clue as to which are mechanical?

I'm not sure but I can guess.

C: click maybe mechanical?
T: tactile?
W: windows key.
E: 'Erase-Eaze'

Looks like this cannot be necessarily applied.

[h=2]Model Numbers:[/h]

Model Number consists of 'RT' series no(4 letters except for RT101)  and supplemental letters. Some models has alpha letter in series no.
For example RT915CTW, this 'C' is part of series no not supplemental letter.

Yeah, thanks a lot! What does it mean by "tactile or membrane" though? (Is it individual rubber domes vs sheet style?) And so the only mechanical RT keyboards are the 8XXX ones and the 101?

ripster, welcome and thanks for your continuous contributions to GH community!

Magna224,
'T' means tactile feel.
I think all RT tactile keyboards have membrane switch and rubber dome. I don't know whether individual or sheet.
Some model has rubber dome sheet not individual?
Yes, RT8xxx and RT101 are mechanical. I couldn't find other mechanical models.

Disclosure: I don't own any NMB boards and these info comes from just google search and archinve.org.
