GB date: November 4th - December 9th (different end dates for vendors)
US pricing: Alu: $ 345
                 Brass: $ 425

”sperno 59 | 31/10/2022:"

sorry about delaying it by a week!
There was some last second logistical stuff that was overlooked for launching the GB pages, and we wanted to take a few days to iron it out.

Introduction

I don’t use right shift, I do use arrows. So why don’t replace the right shift with arrows?
This way we can keep the "60%" format, with less compromise. (unless you use right shift of course)
Sperno means to despise/remove/reject etc. in this case, the right shift is the object... Also, it sounds funny.

We have made 2 versions, one with an aluminum bottom and another with a brass bottom.
The brass bottom is heavier and sounds better than the aluminum without foam.
With the alu bottom, you depend more on the provided foam to prevent sound from bouncing inside the case.
The upside is that the aluminum version is cheaper, and maybe you prefer the full alu look.

(There is a sound test and the full alu without foam sounds really good, but decide for yourself)

Alu built without switches and caps: 1.2kg

Sound and Feel

brass bottom
full alu (no foam)

The board is bouncy and types soft, this is due to the big amount of flex cuts in the plate and also in the pcb.
You can adjust the amount of gaskets to influence the feel, using all the gaskets will make it stiffer and using less will increase the flex.

Prototype and Colors

R1 proto: We are very pleased with the outcome, technically almost everything works except a tolerance issue with some switches.
For the final and R2 this issue will be solved.
We have ordered a proto of each color with pics in the comments.
The red and blue are a bit lighter than what we intended and will be darker for R2 and final.

R2 proto: Have arrived! the blue color looks way better, the red is now a better shade, but still quite a bit lighter.
We will be keeping this red though, we found it looks better than what we intended. (happy little accidents)

Everything looks good and no changes are needed, we are on the final product.

Good luck , MOQ is optimistic and extreme difficult to meet even for very popular makers

I couldn't find any information about the PCB firmware.  Is the PCB VIA compatible?

we will see what the numbers look like, most likely extras will be made which could fill up the remaining keyboards needed to reach moq.
The prices are based on having 300 boards, which was based on the amount of ic responses (600).

Hey everyone,

Unfortunately we weren't looking to meet moq.
This is not what we expected due to the high amount of ic responses, engagement and positive feedback.
We think this is due to the financial state people are in all around the world, which is currently not the best.
We are thinking of revisiting this GB in the future, hopefully with more succes and an improved price point.

Very sorry for the people who were counting on this board and may have bought and joined other GB's for this board.

Happy typing,

Biscuit and Alex

Sorry to hear that the timing for this GB didn't work out. I just stubled upon this board today, unfortunately. Just letting you know that I would surely be interested if/when you decide to run in the future, as a fellow left shift enjoyer.

Yeah, people have become smarter and stopped buying any trash, only keyboards with the best value for money remain and they drive the market.
