normal people who for whatever reason cannot make romantic relationships

It aint ****in' easy, man.

This is all too true, and modern isolationism in the age of the interwebs is making relationships (of all kinds)  "IRL"  ever more difficult.

I'll tell you, one of the main issues is I do very well in person. Natural conversationalist, and one of my favorite things is learning about new people I meet.
Now countering that, I've mostly been working remotely lately so no chance of meeting new people. Second, it seems like everyone under the age of like 50 is bent on only meeting through apps, and apps are an absolute death sentence for the social lives of anyone who doesn't come across well via text only. How can you judge someone on their opening line of text only? It's absurd.

I put "better in person" in my profiles and try to steer towards a meet asap. I see it in loads of other profiles too. It's definitely not a rare thing.

I was in sales for many years and absolutely depended on legit eye contact.

and PS - I was never good on the phone, even when that was all we had.

--- Quote from: kurplop on Sun, 20 April 2025, 16:05:48 ---I don't think it is primarily an economic issue, though that is a part of it. Shifting sociological realities have left both sexes wanting more than what either sex has to offer. Guys have suffered more because women have become more economically secure in recent years. Still, today's women are finding themselves having to date down educationally, which has its own issues. Meanwhile, instead of rising to the occasion, men are anesthetizing themselves with video games and porn.

I'm glad to be from a generation that had fewer options and possibilities. My prayers and best wishes to young people out there.

The "Men" can not rise to the challenge, absent education / time wealth / resources.

The Rich Billionaire steals money, orders a big 3rd beach house. The Carpenter is "bludgeoned with ill-gotten money" to build empty houses, while being away from his kids.  The State, also ruled by the Billionaire Crooks, only provides the most basic day-care, in order to CONTROL the possibilities of advancement, the districts Not lived in by the Billionaire gets pennies, very bad/nonexistent education.

The Crooks invest in their own districts, creating highly educated SUPER CROOKS.

So, the Rich steals money from the poor, in order to compel the Poor to be overworked, further stealing the future of the Poor's children, Locking them into a cycle of basic low level wage slavery.

This is the Business of Empires.

It's unsustainable, and it all comes crashing down until someone reboots.  And then it crashes again because we do the same thing. Human beings are stupid and most are illiterate.
