What is the feasibility of using a push/pull or toggle pushbutton for the rotary encoder so for example you can have spin volume and push mute?

The chip that we're using for the encoder doesn't support being a push button too. Though you could set one of the mechanical switches to toggle the mute

I'll be honest: I was starting to lose interest. Like how much do I really need this? Honestly, I definitely don't need it at all, BUT once I saw that video of the knob spinning, I was 100% back. So pumped for this. One thing though, I am very much not into the knob with the giant grooves in it. I much prefer the subtle ridge with the gap in it used in the renders. For whatever that may be worth.

Glad you like it! I'm really happy with how well it spins.

A lot of people seem to prefer the notch knob over the crinkle. At the moment we are still planning to make both of them since there seems to be enough interest for both.

Got a progress update on the new prototypes! They are looking much better than the last ones and they haven't even been finished yet.
We are also working closely with the manufacturer to get a higher quality finish from the sandblasting, they will be using a higher grit of glass beads which should give us a much smoother surface finish. We're expecting it to look more like the anodising on a Iphone 6.

Any updates?

At the moment we are just finalizing all of the little details, working out the exact costs of everything, etc.
I've just ordered a final PCB and once that gets here I'll be able to take final product shots for both the ROTR and the LITE.
Sorry that it's taking a while but we just want to make sure we don't have any issues when the GB starts

Unfortunately, the machined parts on their own cost us about $100 per unit. We crammed a lot of engineering into the knob

It's so expensive but so nice and it will match the J-01 with copper so well.

Per talking with them in discord, they are not making insane profit off these. The knob/rotary mechanism in this is far more advanced than the simple encoders being placed in other boards/macropads, and should have incredible longevity/durability comparatively.

I also bought a silver and copper! Such a pretty combination. It sounds like you have plans for future rounds, I hope a R2 encoder will have support for the push button.

Thank you!! We have lots of ideas planned for R2, thinking of having the resistance of the knob be changed dynamically through software. Annoyingly the magnets we need don't exist yet, they should be in production mid next year though

Push button seems possible too, it will definitely be a challenge though.

There were only 200 units available. We settled on this as any more would have pushed the fulfillment date back significantly, potentially as late as early 2022.
This is also the reason for the LITE, the exact same encoder mechanism and PCB just without the aluminium case (which is the most time consuming part to machine) and a carbon fiber case instead. We're also working on a acrylic case for the LITE, we will be releasing the files for it after the GB concludes.

Thanks and sorry! I just found the GB limits on the landing page and you beat me to the delete. I still appreciate the backstory and am sad I missed it! Might win me over for the LITE, however.

I didn't know a GB could run out of stock, but I'm seeing the same messaging. Are we missing something OP?

No problem at all. We will be offering just the cases on their own in the future for anyone that wants to upgrade their LITE.

Hate to plug our product in someone else's IC, but I think this macropad would look incredible with three Series 00 in the front.

Black Sandblasted Alu for the black ROTR. Polished SS for the white/silver one.
