IKBC R300 problem
« on: Sun, 15 May 2022, 22:59:43 »
Hi there,

I have an IKBC R300 with most of the LED dead.
So I decided to buy some new LED and replaced them.
After the process it is found that the INS button light + & - are shorted (by using ohmmeter) which should be caused by my bad soldering skill

So as of now the following buttons do not work: 0, P, ;, INS, F10
I have tried using solder sucker but it does not fix that.
Could there be any way to fix it apart from replacing with another keyboard?

P.S. Sorry for my poor English

This must be one of the new generation of boards where the LEDs are connected to the switches making it very hard to work out what's going on.

If it is that LED that's causing the problem you need to break the short. If you can't do that using the sucker from the back you will have to remove the LED and the switch so you can get to the pads on the other side where, hopefully, you will see the short.

Thanks a lot ;). I've tried to remove the switch itself with a screwdriver but unsuccessful. Do I need the special tool for that?

Morning folks,
I have tried all night and fixed the INS button issue :).

The only task left is to fix the unstable LED lights

I tried wiggling around the anode and cathode, and the lights dimmed and brightened.
Is there any good way to fix this?
