A search would have revealed that ClickClack isn't the only one who makes blank colored keys.
I didn't find it right away, but I know there are the threads out there, because I've read them.  I guess I should have bookmarked those companies, after all. Your own thread would have made more sense, as well.  Generally, they weren't carrying 1 full key set for a cherry profile board.

Here's a jumping off wiki point - there is some information in this article/discussion.

Mostly, these are sold in Asia, particularly from like KBC.  There are some you can get premade online.  Generally they aren't a complete set for a specific board, but there are the single sized keys.

Otherwise, you have to go to companies like Signature Plastic to get a custom set made. Or get lucky and find some on their overrun list:  DCS family, this is the PBT list.

Also, depending on what plastic your keys are made of you can rit dye white/biege/grey keys.

Hi guys =)

Due to some very sad events and unfortunate misshaps I had to slow down for a bit on the keys. If I loose another friend this year I will go nuts, but things come in threes so I don't think I have to worry any more about the people I love this year... I hope =S

Indeed In my free time though I have been devoted 100% to making equipment and keycaps and accidently blowing equipment up. New safety measures are in place, LoLz!

I have recieved back enough info and test keys that I am moving forward and have been upscaling equipment for weeks now.

Sorry about the delay in my responses, I have just been down on my luck and frustrated lately.

I'm totally interested in the dresses.  Do you have any that'll look good on a merman like myself?

EDIT:

Crap, some spammer (who must have been deleted) named "wedding" posted after washuai with tons of links to wedding dresses that looked lovely.  She didn't have much that would go with my seaweed hair though.

Titanium keycap! I finally finished the prototype! YAY!!!! =) It took so long because it's a two part keycap. I designed It so I could test it with Topre, Cherry, ALPS, and Model M switches. In this photo it has the Topre/HHKB back. If I choose to make a limited number of them they would be a one piece key except for perhaps a Model M version, we shall see. I don't think there will be key wear on this one! =P. This one is semi polished but I will try a sandblasted one later when I have the time.

Truly. :)

Glad yer able to find some respite in the land of hacking. My own brain only sometimes lets me hide in fun stuff like bits and code, while it's dealing with life.

On the topic of bits - have you had much luck with the stems and catches at the bottom of IBM keys? It's not a huge issue, since one can just go nuts on the keycap for solids, or raised keys, but fer a double-shot, the extra thickness on a single-piece key is nice.

I just do manual throws, typically with resin - and my venting sucks. Hence the fiddly bits of keys are infuriating.

It sounds like you cast your dies, and have a studio-scale injection molding setup?
 Much impressed, regardless.

I have no sane theories on how to get crisp lettering projected onto plastic to form even a mm thick master for a character. Wish I could print on something, then hit it with UV or similar, and then magically rinse away the unexposed material... like with photo-sensitive circuit boards.
Double-shot anything is years away for me. :(

I'll likely end up getting a  cnc toy fer fine work working before I sort out the casting problems. At least that will get me part way.

mystified,
dfj

It's definately doooooable, but it would cost me an arm and a leg to get my run of them started. And it would price out the vast majority of people who would want them. I am still working on options and tests to bring possible prices down.

Naaa... There's loads of titanium laying around. The Russians have huge amounts of it. So titanium can't be that expansive...

... Now we just have to find a way to steal a Russians sub-marine to get hold of all that titanium... hmmmm...

That's so weird, I've been thinking of approaching this local glass master to discuss commissioning a keyset in glass :)

Here's some of his work; http://www.auroraborealisnorge.com/5.html
As you can see, he's not exactly a "internet man", but at least he has a website :P

What he doesn't show on his website is all the sculptures he made. Small polar bears and stuff like that; I saw them in his studio.

I haven't done anything about my thoughts yet because frankly I'm not sure it would even be possible? I don't have enough knowledge about how glass is formed or molded.

Any thoughts? Is this something worth pursuing?

Hmmm... it depends on what you are comparing/contrasting. The difference in the base metal cost isn't really the main difference in price. True there are some Ti alloys that have truly horrendous ingot prices but it's the process that makes the bigger difference. As a side note- I do not use scrap for metal castings only ingots or blanks.
As far as toughness Ti would be far more durable in every way, but it's not like aluminum is weak. For a keycap they are both silly durable.

I still want an all-"ice" HHKB (case and keys).  That would be absolutely awesome.  :)

I am working on those but I don't think they will make it in the first runs, since they are done in a different manner. I have to test the waters with the new stuff first. I am working as fast as possible at being diverse but also I just need to get into a groooove and see what initially takes =)

Ice? like in transparent?

Mostly, check the first post, there is a picture of two on a keyboard. They are slightly frosted but transparent, very much like ice cubes =)

That's so weird, I've been thinking of approaching this local glass master to discuss commissioning a keyset in glass :)...
Any thoughts? Is this something worth pursuing?

I made a few glass ones but they were a pig to do and that is when I decdided to go the ice and crystial keys route first (plastic).
I have a couple tricks up my sleeve though that I bet he would not be taking into account... heehee
muaahahaaahaaa ;)

(I could swear I posted this message earlier and it seems to have disappeared)

Hi, I've just re-entered the world of mechanical keyboards with a Filco brown, which I love oh so much.  clickclack's keycaps are positively drool-worthy!  Are you currently taking orders?

Thanks =)
I am not currently taking orders but I am working on them.
I just need to work out some more little issues before I can safely take orders.
Note: If you think you actually posted earlier and it was deleted, perhaps mention it to imav, as I think he was having some data base errors earlier.

Thanks everyone for your continued interest =)

Although the whiter one does look just like a man-made ice cube, I prefer the greener one because it looks more like real ice in huge glaciers, or old, undisturbed ice from some long-forgotten age.

Damnit clickclack, I want to give you money! :P

Hmmm. I not a fan of transparent gadgets at all... not even if they are frosted. I like brushed metal (greyish is also good) or matte black better.
At last! A mechanical keyboard with Trackpoint of my own! Now with Hyper-Scroll! And also Ergo-Clear switches. Ohh... look... custom keys! :D
