I'm really tempted especially since it is proper british layout unlike the G84-4100 series which is US style with british keys

I would saw that trackball off so fast. Would be perfect then.
What kind of switches?

Interesting.

Definitely a nice 4100 sub for the UK folks.

Thanks a lot bodibo, in the end couldn't resist it, british keyboard in european layout did it for me. And alot cheaper than a new price of £90+ everywhere else, although it is 5 years old so I have no clue in what condition its in. In the end I got it for £8 inc delivery which is cheaper than the £20 i saw for a french/german version a few months back so I think this is not too bad if it is workable condition.

Looking at the pictures it will need to be completely cleaned out which will take ages considering my key puller is broken and using paper clips to pull out keys is a pain.

If its in good working condition i'll be using this for my main working/programming keyboard. And use my spare g84-4700 numpad on the side for any heavy number entering stuff.

I wonder if the keyboard PCB would fit into a G84-4100 case. I prefer the look of this layout to the G84-4100. I never looked closely at these before because of the trackball.

i'll tell you once i open it up. But to be honest from all the cherry keyboards I've come across they are usually one piece jobs, probably cheaper and more reliable but reduces the modularity and flexibility of the keyboard.

On my Cherry boards the switch pcb and the controller pcb are separate.

I dont think they were thinking about controller and switch pcb, I think they meant qwerty switch and numpad pcb which are usually one piece and I have no clue if you can hacksaw the numpad off without destroying the switch pcb? or in this case hack sawing the trackpad off

In the Compaq MX 11800 the trackball is by Logitech and is a separate PCB with its own part number. Maybe they made a low profile module.

new? G84-4400 online now bid £15 inc delivery at the moment. I've seen these go for £30-40 before just in case you do not know the usual price. The G84-4100 are more likely to go for £10-30 since they are generally cheaper and a lot more easy to find

brand new black one

Which I just got but the guy still has 2 more in stock. This one has a buy it now of £23 inc delivery. I'm desperate for a british/euro layout and i'm not really sure of the condition of the white 5 year old used one as it has not been delivered yet.

For work purposes in my smallish work space having a built in trackball can be useful anyway, plus waiting for the new G84-5200 may take a long while and it will most likely cost a minimum of £50 which is too much for me at the moment.
