Milkshake is back!
Hey!
One year later, and after a lot of requests, Milkshake is finally back, this time in KAT profile!
I started working on this iteration of Milkshake months ago, and I can finally show you the samples and the massive kits rework :eek:
The manufacturer remains the same, that's Keyreative.
Group Buy is starting the September 2nd and will end the September 30th.

Also, there's a lot of spacebars in there, but no 1.5u keys. If you look at the ortho kits from SA Laser, MT3, etc, they're there and they cater to Corne and Atreus. Corne especially is a pretty popular keyboard in its sort. I hope these can be added.
Additionally, if MOQ is so low, could we split ortho from 40s? It's only recently they're being thrown together to make MOQ, but if that's not a requirement, smaller kits and cost could mean more sales.

Nope sorry, the split backspace belongs with 7u spacebar and the 1.5u mods.

Yeah I need to add some other keycaps into the spacebar kit.
And I need to enhance the nomad kit as well. Splitting the ortho might be a solution :)

Im not talking about novelties. The Leopold FC660M/C layout have two 2,25u shifts and the mod kits on milkshake only have one for the left shift. I'm asking biip to add another 2,25u shift because that 660 layout is popularCould you add another 2.25u shift for the right for 660 layouts?

I just want to make sure I have a good chance at these! I’m also not 100% which board I’ll pop these on, which means I might need extra ‘child’ sets for flexibility.

There's no maximum. Don't worry. Just MOQ, but apparently that's quite low for KAT.

Milkshake has to be white with colored accents. I thought about adding orange novelties and colored accent for caps lock etc. but the kits are massive enough imo.
I'm definitely in for this. After hearing how nice KAT profile sounds and feels, i've been waiting for a KAT set anxiously. This set looks great, can't wait, any idea when this will go into GB?

But I really hope you will split ortho off in its own kit. Nomad is getting so huge I'm starting to fear the price. Please have a look at SA Laser for an example. It has a good separate ortho and 40s kit.

Yes, KAM would be preferred but you could use KAT R3 it would be just slightly off center.
Doubt you could feel/see that it unless looking for it.

That would solve it for the international kit, but I was also thinking about Colevrak (and Baguette). Since Numpad was already extended, I am just wondering if most people are going for Weirdo or regular alphas. I said it before, but I think a great part of the identity of this kit are the Weirdo alphas.

The identy is colors, mod legends, font, etc.
So part of the identity is definitely the font.
The appeal of that part is subjective.
But do you intend to buy other layout kits besides mods and regular alphas? If not, it shouldn't really matter to you what the extended layout kits are based upon.

i'm really interested in this, but just to confirm, the caps are be pretty white yeah? i've seen some pictures of dsa milkshake and some of them seem a bit beige, but that may be strongly depending on the lightning. i have a picture in my head and white caps play a big role in it.

My suggestion would also be to include some blank (or maybe dots/fruits) R1/R2/R3/R4 1.5u keys, the vertical ones too.
I also think a vertical 2u DEL key would be nice. It is pretty common to have enter/space/delete/backspace on vertical 2u.
Maybe some ergo specific keys? For example ⟲ and ❐ for layer switching. Those are from ergodox-ez configurator.
From my personal setup (but I think these are also somewhat common, they try to mimic ansi keyboard) I would like to suggest:
* 1.5u R1 += and -_ keys
* 1.5u R2 [{ and }] keys
* 1.5u R3 '" key
I'll post more suggestions if anything comes to my mind.

I feel you on having to pass on a lot of these great kits. It's a double edge sword. On one hand I save a bunch of money. On the other hand I have to see a great set pass me by (looking at you GMK Cafe)

It depends on the keycaps profile and on the manufacturer.
Since I'll need new molds, the MOQs will be higher than other KAT sets.

The shine is not a problem itself. It just doesn't look great the "busy" legends Wraith has IMO, and also doesn't really fit the aesthetic of the old Sinclair keyboards.

Any price break opportunities? It's gonna be a tough pill to swallow for alphas,mods,specialties,calc and fruits. Looking back now, I wish the mods kit had been a little bigger to include a couple of keys for hhkb backspace and spacebar

but one question, of course that's not up to you but maybe you have an idea why there's an MOQ for the blanks? i mean, they're literally the base for all the kits since it's dyesub and are less production steps, so from my perspective there shouldn't be an MOQ^^

I still have yet to find the reason for this but does anyone know why KAT and KAM have Different textures and finishes even though KAM is just Uniform Row-3 KAT.
Do they use different factories?
