What made you decide your username?
« on: Mon, 06 May 2013, 20:00:48 »
When I was younger I had a very big interest in cars, and my favourite was (still is) the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 and it's successors.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_Tipo_33
So when it came time to make an account on a forum, I don't remember which one now...  I chose tipo33.  It is short, simple, memorable enough and always available.  :D

Why did you pick your username?

TJC - initials
Austin - favorite wrestler at the time

Story: I made tjcaustin completely by accident.  Back in 1998 when I made my yahoo email address, I wanted something that told the world I enjoyed wrestling and Stone Cold Steve Austin the best of all.  Well, obviously, most names directly tied to that were already taken and so yahoo spit tjcaustin at me as a possible second choice.

The rest, as they say, is history.

When I started to play StarCraft 2 kinda seriously, I wanted to have a fun name just to laugh at. All my friends had these serious nerd names and the pros all have names like Flash, Bomber, and Sniper.

One day I was pondering a change to my user name and was playing Crash Bandicoot: Return of Vortex. I was like...man, this game is so badass. And my name just struck me then.

So sup kids, I'm Captain BadAss :D

Waaay back when WoW: The Burning Crusades came out there was a vanity pet introduced called Speedy who was a cute 'lil turtle. On occasion Speedy's idle animation would show him roaring/yawning making this unearthly sound of demons having an orgy. Welp, for some reason my game was bugged on one of the patch days and his sound effect's volume was really really loud and afterwards would drop the sound from the entire game thus forcing to deal with it, not use Speedy(a non-option really,) or restart the game. Thus noisyturtle, and pretty much just going with it till I die.

Somehow I got the nickname nubbins in college.  In college, I broke a $4000-5000 camera lens at my job, prompting the term "nubbinated".  Nubbinator is just an extension of that.

My BF3 nick is AleahAkbeer, a name I came up with with a Persian friend.  We were trying to come up with a name for the only Muslim approved alcohols.

It's funny that tjcaustin is actually pronounced "TJC-Austin" -- I'm sure everyone thought of it like "TJ-Caustin" or was it just me?

As for my username, it's just what it is - I like lasers and think laser pointers are neat. Also this is my user name for most games I play.... I just wanted something unique.

Current avatar is a diagram of an eyeball with a laser burning into the back of it. Looks like fun!

Edit;
for those curious about my "former name" --- Flip is a trickster clown who always gives bad advice to the main character of the movie "Little Nemo" which is my favorite childhood movie (full length movie is on Youtube now, go watch it!)

I use to listen to a lot of Iron Maiden back in the high school days too. But now, I've moved on to more symphonic metal genre.

15 years or so ago I was playing AD&D with some friends, a lucky dice throw made my character a max. strength warrior, so I thought Buliwyf from "The 13th Warrior" was a fitting name for him. I knew it was spelled a bit weird but I didn't know how exactly and because back then you hadn't the Internet in your pocket he was spelled wrong.

Shortly after it became my Internet nick I use since then.
