It's the durability that bothers me about pad printing, I hate seeing the letters fade.

A whole bunch of color options for keyset color are looking to be confirmed. I won't say what colors, but they're ones that have been popular previously. This is all subject to change, as apparently there's a "special system" for how you choose the colors of your board...
Full alu construction confirmed. Plate too.
Don't know if it comes in ANSI or not, but a few versions of ISO are confirmed, German and UK english are confirmed 100%, French, Portuguese, and Italian are a maybe but are looking like something that they'll do
Also, I retract my PBT comment from earlier, but won't say any more.

BSP make pbt caps - I don't believe they have cherry "tooling" for it - if they did, they wouldn't have bonkers caps like the right shift, and dodgy stems that plague their products. None of these things exist in OG cherry dyesub.
Just saying...
Seriously I don't understand how they can offer a full set and not organise something for the spacebars. It really does stink, they're so close to being perfect. Their PBT material feels fantastic, I just wish they could fix some of their molds(like that wonky right shift) and do something about the crooked stems. Imsto was kind enough to provide a GMK spacebar in his latest GB.Seriously I don't understand how they can offer a full set and not organise something for the spacebars. BSP works for Cherry, but as far as I understand only for ML profile. They have some MX which are really nice but I don't think it's their core business. That's kind of why I figured they haven't really tried to fix some of the issues, making caps for the enthusiast market is probably only a fraction of their business.

Cherry double shots are sublime.
(http://33.media.tumblr.com/7f568d838e8b67947e997f5002599d81/tumblr_mwhcjn9dD01sljax9o1_500.gif)Cherry double shots are sublime.
I find this humorous, since dye sublimation is named from things subliming. (though it doesn't actually sublime - it just diffuses)
I thought it was sublimation because it skips the liquid phase?

here is a comment: looks like the one depicted is a bluetooth keyboard that can switch between 3 difrent connected devices.
I was talking about sublime as in philosophy, like the quality of greatness. I'm sure Hoff knew that but wanted to clear it up for anyone else.
I was NOT refering to dye sublimation for key caps, which as Hoff pointed out, is actually dye-diffusion [according to a single resouce wiki] and should not be confused with dye-sublimation used for textiles.

here is a comment: looks like the one depicted is a bluetooth keyboard that can switch between 3 difrent connected devices.
My take on this: Fn-F1 is for the USB connection to a desktop or laptop computer. Fn-F2 to Fn-F4 are for the Bluetooth connections.
It looks like this will be a USB keyboard that adds the ability to connect to up to 3 additional devices by Bluetooth.
This mean it is Bluetooth capable, but it does not imply that it has a battery: maybe it can do Bluetooth only when it's connected to a computer or a charger.
I hope it has a battery. That would be awesome - if the layout doesn't suck.
I just realized the name is pronounced "Uni-Key". I kept saying "unique-y" in my head like a big dumb idiot.

If I can read the banner correctly on that picture pasph provided earlier than it would support up to 4 devices, this combined with the Fn F2 to Fn F4 symbols would equal you being correct on your assumptions.
Considering how massive that keyboard looks, I would guess there is plenty of room for a battery and they were smart enough to put one in there. They would need a battery anyway to power the bluetooth, so why not make it power the keyboard as well.

Why do you assume they are smart? :)
It wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer would cheap out on an important feature...
I still hope it has a massive battery inside. Fingers crossed...
That would a god damn joke if the keyboards are made in Germany but no ISO lineup would be produced. At least it will be easier to find some ISO keycaps set. It may be worth going for the Novatouch then.
What about the switch of the keyboard? Do we have any intel?

Well since GMK did take the Cherry tooling and nothing else really I assume that there is only one answer.
It would be surprising if they did anything else.

- aluminum case
- sides are "fully customizable" with material like "aluminum, wood,.."
he also gave me an email address of someone whos more familiar with this product but i didnt get any reply yet

I'm just hoping they offer some keysets as well, would be a huge missed opportunity if they didn't. What worries me is that they're not going to offer double-shot, looking at the windows key on that set on the Uniqey site has me pretty worried.I wouldn't be surprised if the keysets were pad-printed, though something tells me a move like this is aimed at enthusiasts so they may take some extra steps to make them more appealing

It says:
More then 3 million configuration options, aluminum case made from strong anodized lightweight metal, wear resistant keycaps, and more.
Also for the bluetooth symbols, it really does look like FN+F1 would be desktop usb connection, FN+F2-F4: bluetooth devices 1-3, FN+F5: bluetooth off...
Definitely looks interesting, hope it can live up to the hype!
yeah i know, very specific :D
Okay! i got some news again...
- no Backlit option (BOOO!) because of the use of "high quality keacaps" (YEAH!) - really no surprise i guess
- no TKL option at the start,... possibly later ( :-/ )
- only 1 version at the launch - the "UNIQEY Q100"
- price will be "in the upper region" - no specific numbers -.-
- launch of the GMK UNIQEY webshop will be "Spring 2015" - yeah i know, very specific :D
ill try to get more infos...

I think that more than 3 million possibilities is a hell of customization possibilities. ;)
one thing i don't like is that their pbt caps are too soft. If you're using a wire keycap puller the wire will dig into the keycaps. I have some really ugly edges on my keycaps until I learned to only use a plastic puller on this set.
well i'm only interseted in this for the possibility of custom keycaps, and just putting that info out there.

$250 is actually not bad for a keyboard that has alu case, GMK double shot keycaps and is programmable
but it was some kind of ugly the last time I checked

The problem with advertising tactics like that is that they can become very meaningless very quickly. Are all 3 million possibilities actually going to be useful/desired? What can we customize? If we can choose custom keycaps, for example, that's a huge plus to me. "3 million" different LED combinations? Not so much. :P Not because I don't like LEDs, but because I consider it misleading to call those all independent "configurations". That's what I was referring to. ;)

Looks like the release of a silencing top-switch, reducing noise by 10db, and available aftermarket soon.
The clips definitely look pretty interesting! Actually gives me a lot of hope that we'll be able to order caps separately, seems like they're going all out.

I'm really curious about the keycaps. Those seems nice.
Though I feel like the QMX-Clip would at least reduce the travel by 1 mm. I can already foresee that it will bug me so probably not gonna work. >____>

They will reduce the travel about the same as thinner / normal orings I reckon. The keycaps don't touch the case without the clips or orings.
just got an answer on my last mail to GMK... sadly he wasnt willing to give much information since the upcoming newsletter should provide us with more :-/
- detachable micro USB cable... hooray for Pexxon cables
- at the start there will be 2 color options for the aluminum case - black and silver
more information ragarding the various configuration possibilities will be given "ASAP"

???? Spicebar silencing mod is for Topre, not MX...
Or are you proposing a new mod, MX with thin landing pads inside? Don't think that will work due to the shape of the inside of the upper MX case.

The landing pad's original purpose was to be placed over Cherry MX switches to reduce bottom-out noise, no?

Sry didnt answer your question,
Yes
...
Well when you look at the picture, this is what it looks like they put a thin landing pads on the inside top of the switch housing and one on the outside. I've never tried it but it is just my assumptions so far. :D
The QMX clips look just like a glorified version of the humble landing pads.

I'm pretty sure it's just a clip that goes over the top switch housing and it has a single rubber pad the the "shoulders" of the slider hit on the upstroke and the crosspieces of the keycap hit on the downstroke. It's not easy (or even possible?) to put a thin landing pad inside the housing like in spicebar's NovaTouch mod.The QMX clips look just like a glorified version of the humble landing pads.
With the difference being that they're held in place and so dampen the upstroke as well as the down.
It is interesting how we are intrigued by these intents to turn a nice mechanical switch into something more similar to a rubber dome.

I've always found that funny, never got the appeal of damping pads/o-rings/sili balls. I like my mechs to feel mechanical!
Will probably try the clips out anyway, if only to support GMK in their awesomeness.

in the latest answer on my question catalogue regarding the q100 i got the confirmation that it is possible to order "orange alphas with cyan legends, cyan modifiers with orange legends, and the esc and arrow buttons in even differen colors". all that in a black aluminum case with sidepanels of "interesting choices"... all that sounds really really awesome and im completely sold yet myself.... but it also sounds pricy as ****... my bet would be 250+, if i had to guess that is
...oh an another info was that there the firmware will offer many ways of customization as well... i think he talked about makros but not sure :DShow Image(http://i.imgur.com/WX4vXGo.gif)

youre not the first one coming up with that concern...
just shot the guy at GMK that question
edit: got an instant answer this time... sadly as you already thought, the qmx clip has to cover the mx switch in a way that is not possible on platemounted switches :-/ thats a bummer for those only interested in the clip
PCB mount master race
PCB mount > platePCB mount master race
You just made that up just now, didn't you?

PCB mount > plate
It feels softer and makes it easier to mod/replace switches. PCBs sometimes support more different layouts, but plates don't.
They should launch these already, I can't wait :)
Wondering whether they also made the keyboards programmable, otherwise I guess I'm just interested in the keycaps
they should! im gifted to be one of those who will get a sample kit of the qmx clip. that kit shouldve arrived last week but they have a problem with one of their suppliers, so it will be shipped in this week... at least thats what my contact hopes! u wouldnt believe that GMK is such a small business after reading all those good things about the keycaps they make xD
Cool, someone finally bought keychatter, guess intelli won't be around anymore. They should launch these already, I can't wait :)

no news?
I need your keyboard. And beautifully made keysets. With homing bars (at least that's what the picture on their site shows).

made an even more professional video for sound comparison... its not mushy... the key travel is obviously not as long due to the height of the clip on the switch (1mm?) but overall i would describe the sound as a mix of topre and mx´... less click more thock
i can confirm that they are not compatible with platemounted switches... i tried :D u can see the reason one of the images (side view)
Could you do it again and this time, release the key faster so that we could hear how ti dampens the sound on topping up?

livingspeedbump will post a comparison sooner or later... hes much more experienced than i am in testing mechs... i can confirm that there IS a noticable dampening in the "topping up"
…aaand the clips are on Massdrop (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/gmk-sound-dampening-brackets?mode=guest_open). Lowest possible price: $23 for 110 pieces + shipping + import tax in my case. EU distributor wanted.
Hard to say without seeing one in person but it looks like they clip over the edge of the switch and the plate would get in the way of that. If they don't attach somehow they'll rattle and won't dampen the upstroke so the only other way to do it would be to cut them down and glue them to the switch top. Great if you like them, but not much fun if you don't!I said modify, not cut i half and glue the rest. I expect this community to be a little more inventive than that :)
any news about the keyboard? did they cancel the project?
edit: oh nevermind - i just made a lucky google find:

is this for real? looks like a test for the configurator website.
Plus it looks like if you make a weird enough color combination they might have to do a run of one single keyset... But maybe I'm wrong, I never learned german since my grandfather was a very good soldier...
(Attachment Link)
I mean its nice and all but the pricing as it stands now would be around $350 plus $30 for shipping and since you can add QMX clips the board must be PCB mount. :))

G80-3000 75 eur
Gmk set with delivery and import duties 140 eur
Total 215 eur
Gmk unikey 260 eur included delivery and uniqey clips
Really struggling to see the point here...
Nearly $300 for a keyboard with the same old Cherry MX switches, ABS keycaps, little mention of basic specs like rollover or polling rate, no lighting, and a very sparse feature set (the only thing remotely non-basic is the bluetooth connectivity, and you can get that on much less expensive keyboards already, like Filco, Jaki, Zippy, etc.) is just not a good value proposition. I don't care how much inexplicable love for "minimalism" or "purity" you might have; at $300, you're basically being charged anyway for all of those things you don't get, and then charged again for them being taken out.
I suppose they might make it cheaper, but, realistically, there's no way they're going to make it so cheap that that can give it a reason to exist.
Really struggling to see the point in any of your points.
You are a gamer, aren't you?

Ah yes, two classic modes of argument: intentional stupidity, and trying to refute a point by acting cooler than the person making it. A time-honored pairing, really, since stupidity and coolness are often closely linked, though, I'm afraid, rather transparent as a result.
Naturally, such things will do little to convince me that there's any real advantage to this product for someone who isn't taken with the whole "enthusiast" circle-jerk.
Ahh! Perfect. A new GMK DE set. QWERTZ is so much better than ISO UK for ISO nordic users.
I'm going to pick one up. Going to be hilarious with some double 25% TAX and expensive shipping.
voted to halt Obama's climate-change initiative only a couple of days ago.
just because he doesn't share the same views as you.
He was a deeply ugly and hateful man, but it seems that he went in his sleep, which has got to be the easiest way.
Without him, the court does swing more towards the direction of sanity. Perhaps there will be some more rational rulings in coming months.
I'm not saying that he's right by any means but wishing a pain and slowful death on somebody is obscene.

I hope they rethink the price. Way too much for Americans.
Plate mounted sounds nice...

Same, some great color combos but dat price. Not to say it isn't worth it though!

I asked Christopher at GMK about the lack of plate, and he said that companies only add a plate to increase rigidity and reduce flex (if you held the board and twisted). due to the use of high end aluminum, this board has no flex, and therefore no need for a plate (also helps reduce noise, pinging etc)

Is this really all there is to plate mounting, though?
I mean, I'm thinking about times when I've cleaned my keyboards, and seen the amount of crud that winds up on the plate, and then I'm imagining all of that winding up on the keyboard's PCB, and I'm combining that with my experience of keyboard problems being caused by even small amounts of dirt or residue on the PCB in just the wrong place, and I just can't help but feel uncomfortable about the whole idea of PCB mount...

I got my Uniqey Q100 yesterday. There is absolutely no flex whatsoever and the QMX clips work really well.
Review is under way, expect it by Monday. Not sure I'll be able to open it up, though, as not only the Torx screws are obstacle to that.
I'll have to see whether I can record in a decent quality, but I will try. Subjectively speaking, them QMX clips really dampen the sound well.
The cable is removable, yes. However, the mini-USB plug is at an angle of 90°, so it's a little tricky to pull out.
As for the replacement of single key caps... I will have to inquire at GMK. As soon as I hear from them, I will get back to you.
is there a replacement program, if you accidentally break a key?According to Mr Kredler from GMK there is an ongoing discussion at the company, whether you will be able to buy single keys, e.g. if you decide you want the arrow keys in a different colour now than when you ordered your Q100.
OK, my review of the Uniqey Q100 is online: https://www.mecha-blog.de/review-uniqey-q100-mit-qmx-clips/ (in German)
I also included a little sound comparison (5 quick and 2 slow types each): first the Q100 without clips, then the Q100 with QMX Clips, then a QPad MK-80 with traditional O-rings and finally a CM Novatouch.Quoteis there a replacement program, if you accidentally break a key?According to Mr Kredler from GMK there is an ongoing discussion at the company, whether you will be able to buy single keys, e.g. if you decide you want the arrow keys in a different colour now than when you ordered your Q100.

If there are any questions, feel free to ask away.
I have to say, sound-wise, the review didn't do much for me, separate recording would have been nice

What is the approximate thickness of the case?As in, how thick is the aluminium material? Depends on where you measure, 1.5 to 2mm.
Can you add something to this? "incidentally, during the year GMK still want to present another keyboard. Experimenting "with different sizes and form factors," says this of the company."I unfortunately had to formulate it this vaguely. That's the official statement: they are looking into other form factors like 60 or 80% and will present another Uniqey keyboard this year.
We shoud ask gmk to sell the clips should also be separately sold as an accessory. They will sell the QMX clips separately on Uniqey.net, ETA 2 weeks.
Please fix the review, replace 1.5 with 1.25! "The bottom row is a standard bottom-Row with 1.5 U -Modifiern."Argh, typo. Thanks!
It seems to me that uniqey clips can silence the bigger keys with more efficiency than the moddded topre?
what is that multitool?????The "Multitool" is this one, where they also store the replacement feet: https://www.mecha-blog.de/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/c137_Uniqey-Q100_multitool.jpg
Does it help with removing the clips?Unfortunately, no. The tool for that only comes with the seperately sold QMX clips.
I have a kit, and love them. The problem is that they don't work with Zealios and SA-caps at the same time. With Zealios and DSA they work, and with Cherry and SA they work, but JUST the combination I like the best... Typical!
I'll have to remember to try that... I only have one plateless zealio board, and it's away on vacation right now.I have a kit, and love them. maybe some orings will make the inside of the key impact the top of the clip, thus preventing the sides from touching the clip?
Huh, it'S GMK and all but is this really considered that priceworthy? $200+ for a keyboard is quite a lot, even with bluetooth considering how it simply uses regular cherry mx.
They skipped the plate simply because the aluminium shell makes it rigid enough, but that makes the keys themselves more fragile to monkey business as PCB will be taking all the impact rather than the plate shouldering most of it. The plate also had the secondary function of at least offering some protection against liquid spills. It's really one of the reason I like those raised key designs, the top is pretty much spill proof if you sticker the switches.

Nice keyboard, but the keycaps definitely add scores to it. Can the keycaps be purchaed seperatlly?
I'm using this thread instead of creating a new one.
Having my Uniqey for about a week now, and just love it. It is solid, heavy, no flex, no wriggling, keys sit very tight and the caps are beautiful (my first GMK caps) it's just wow!
Got the fullblack version with black/darkgrey caps, white legends, esc is blue, clear MX switches and qmx clips. Using it at work where a type around 20.000 keystrokes a day. It's very minimalistic, my co-workers didn't even realized my new board. I was unsure about those clear switches, never typed on them before, just used them on a tester, and they became my preferred switches now. I asked GMK to send me an additional Q-logo keycap and the QMX tool, and they did.
The price with 320,00€ is pretty hefty but it's hard to get a good board with german layout, the ones you get a are pretty expensive (Filco at the official reseller is 250€, Code is 230€), and if you add the GMK caps you end up at 300+ anyway.
Things to improve:
-USB cable is a bit weird. it's 90° angled and you can't use custom cables (cable itself is solid and long enough)
-usb 2
-no real usb hub
-no stop media key (just a pause button)
-can't change the LED colours the way I want to (probably a bug in the firmeware, gonna contact GMK with this issue)
I'll add some pictures, sorry for the bad quality.

I also bought a keyboard, and there's a problem with changing the color of the LEDs.
does not change (does not persist) color led of 5. It remains always white.
I change it to any other (as indicated in the expert features), but after exiting the setting mode it is still white. Even the combination <Fn> + <F5> changes only the first 3 LEDs. does not change LED 4.
AND regardless of whether you change each individually the 1,2,3 LED. color for all 3 LED is selected the one that you chose for the first LED.
As I understand, this problem has been known for a long time, but will long time something not fix

Diese wird Anfang nächsten Jahres verfügbar sein und löst viele der aktuell bestehenden Probleme.
Ich hoffe das hilft dir schon mal weiter.
