DDG seems like a nice alternative search engine. Their privacy policy looks good as well.

I've been wanting to switch to a more privacy oriented search engine for a few months now, but haven't looked into it. DDG could be the one.

Is there a catch that I'm missing?

I've set it as my homepage for a while now. It can't quite live up to what Google used to be, but at least it doesn't have advertising and sponsored links out the bumhole.
