The switch next to the space bar is sort of like a "hyperspace" key. Seriously, you hold it down and it goes "ratatatatatatatatata" like a freakin' uzi.
Ok, I remember those keys now. I think the point of it is actually opposite of what you just wrote. The uzi comes when you hold down the space bar and the fast forward space key zips you forward, but does so in such a fast manner that it's impossible to hit the spot you want without having to do a lot of spacing or backspacing to get the point you want.
