Me too! Almost 2000 games, elo hell at 3.5k
What a shame. haha

steam: naokiraspace
Shame? That's a decent rating if you ask me. I never try hard or play for the numbers, just trying to have some fun.

Its just that I thought I was a 4k guy. But nah. I accepted it weeks ago that I wasn't.
I dont have to win every match. I just want to play competitively with others.
where there is a sh!t-ton of teamwork.

I'm going to re download it right now and give it a try. Wish me luck

Come on, don't try alone! Dota is not half as fun if u play alone.
Link your steam account, and we can form a GH party to queue for games. We can even create a skype call and tell u what to do, the easiest way imo.
If you want, that is.
I don't have a mic right now sadly but we can still do the skype thing.

My steam account: ivoryfrags

Ah, you're from the US, i just saw. Sry, can't play on that server :/
But still, if u have any question don't be afraid to ask!!!

I like iceiceice a lot. That's before he went to China to join DK. No streams ever since.
Singsing is very entertaining as well but it's been 10 years since he streamed.
EE-Sama is nice as well :D very action packed !
But yeah, I've played against LaNm before. That was during last years when I was back in my home for summer holidays.
That was when he was in Rattlesnake as well.
Demolished me mid  :( :-X

I watched a load of Fails of the Week videos and then played against someone who starred in one (DRINK VODKA PLAY DOTKA or something)

Turns out he plays a horrible Riki and is a really poor loser.

After not playing for a few months, I slowly crawled back into DOTA today.
Rusty.
Partial party with steam friends that I haven't seen in a while.
Played random draft.
Team picked poorly and didn't coordinate choices during drafting.
Bad team composition. Lost badly.
Partial group went to bed, leaving my friend and I remaining.
Played single draft.
In-fighting among team. Internet Squabbling.
No wards. No Crow. Lost badly.
Friend joked that those last 2 games were some of the worst he's ever played in a while.
Friend convinced to try out ranked matches. "Trust me, you won't feel as bad losing in ranked because it won't be because of a **** team".
Two of us went into a ranked game. My first one!
Communication, wards. Wow
Some weird stuff ensues.
We play cohesively. Close game towards the middle. Team actually analyzed stuff and called out plays.
We won.
Huh.

I've had a couple of fantastic games these last few days. Both involved an agressive tri-lane which people have no idea how to deal with.

First game I picked up Tiny, managed to farm phase boots and aghanims before level eleven, so I was walking round with a massive tree and a tiny Tiny :) We ended up rolling our opponents in like 25 minutes.

Then yesterday we played a game where we lost all out T1 and T2 towers in the space of about 25 minutes, only taking down a couple of T1s ourselves. I was playing Venge and had some horriffic lag which led to some terrible swaps early game. We spend 20 minutes turtling while our PA got super hench, and we ended up winning after 57 minutes with only two T3s remaining. It was pretty intense.

Then one of my friends got super mad in another game which was really un-fun. I hate it when people take video games so ****ing seriously.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Interesting

So how does supporting work during calibration? It it based on your "normal" MMR?

I have 3 steam accounts, 1 of them isn't ranked, the one I play the most on is 4.2k, the one I play 2nd most on is 4.1k.

I play fairly different heroes depending on the account, so I'd say the system is decently accurate.

I want to pick your brain on this one since you have 2 accounts and I'm in the middle of calibrating for party MMR.
Do you remember what roles you played on each of the accounts? Were you mostly core heroes or support heroes on each account or did you play a combination of both evenly?

Thanks!

It would be really nice if the same person did 10 calibrations as a core hero only and 10 calibrations as a support hero.
Curious to see how/if roles possibly affect your MMR.
I'd love to see the results.
Although sometimes it's not always easy to pick your desired role.

Another hilarious thing is that in party ranked MMR. The other members in your party can see the MMRs after the match during your calibration games.

Mix of all roles. I play a lot of 1 when I play with friends, but solo I usually play 2 or sometimes even 3 or 4. (you know how the 1-5 system works, yes?)

I think during calibration the hero I played on acc 1 (not yet ranked) was doom, acc 2 was TA, acc 3 was Furion. I jungle a lot, mostly because it's like mid but easier because nobody contests you until you get to ultra high MMR.

The best way to raise your MMR is not to play a certain hero, or a certain role (you should get good at everything!!). It's to have fun, and to have a good mindset going in. If you flame a lot, try drinking tea beforehand, or listening to relaxing music.

If you want a full insight on how to get your MMR up, I'll post one if you ask.

Thanks for that.
I know the 1-5 system.
I'm just curious about some of the inner workings for the MMR system works.

Since games take 30-50mins, I don't like playing without a 4-5 stack.
Friends make DOTA better.

I don't blame you, though. It can be hard being flamed a lot. I have trouble with flaming in general. That's why I stopped playing LoL.

And officially "Deleted local content", done with that community...

The community for f2p games is really toxic. It's like a cesspool for all sorts of degenerates from all over the world.
That why I stopped playing for almost 6-7 months.

I just only play with friends now.
Gotta resist that urge not to queue when you don't have a 4-5 stack!

Actually I am quite used to the flaming (coming from dota 1 this is nothing). I get annoyed of how ignorant people got all of a sudden. Maybe f2p is not the model to go with after all...

Hm, I tend to have genuinely mannered and capable players in a great majority of my games. I find BM players to be
a lot more rare than well mannered players -- they're just a lot more noticeable and have a bigger
impact on you as a whole. A lot of players I run into are quite consistent too.

I also don't think the F2P model has anything to do with player community behavior or skill.
HoN, wasn't originally F2P, and that is one of the biggest toxic waste dumps ever.
And I would argue, LoL is just as bad but because of the the younger audience it caters to -- not F2P.

Speeal aside, I'll be in for a GH stack sometime!

Also, if anyone's 4.5k-5k US, I'll stack some ranked mmr too.

Yes the majority are nice guys I assume but those won't stand out and are not as loud as the others. Of course f2p has a role in it, I don't know about US servers but you don't want to play on EUW with 9 out of 10 Russians on 9 out of 10 games you queue. Don't get me wrong this is not anything racist or anything but there is a reason why everyone who plays on ENG language server is talking in English and not their native (which in EU except for UK no country native language is Enlgish) except for the Russians. Solo que is a mess at this point and playing without a stack or couple of friends at least, will drive you mad. This is only my opinion on the game which I think is fantastic but the community drove me off of it...

So Singsing from Cloud 9 finally started streaming again. He played some really weird games with a 5 stack where he was roaming with Jakiro, and some other stuff, and lost super hard.

Then he played a game as Tinker and I can honestly say I was mesmerised at how he was playing. His farm was just incredible.

He would use BoT to get to a creep wave, instantly use March of the Machines, blink out to the trees, rearm, MotM, rearm, blink across, MotM, then that ring that takes off your health and gives you mana, bottle charge, rearm, MotM, bottle charge, BoT back to well, rinse and repeat. All the above took less than a minute, and he was able to predict the exact place the next wave of enemy creeps would fight his so he got the perfect placement of his MotM along with his blink, and was out of there before anybody even knew what was going on.

He did this for about ten minutes before being 6 slotted and they eventually won the game. I don't think he's on dotabuff so I can't find the game but it was amazing how he was able to micro manage everything.

Then I watched Dendi play tinker this morning and he just wasn't anywhere near his level.

Yeah, probably, but I've only played like 150 games and no ranked stuff, so it was pretty new to me. Tinker was one of the first heroes I tried when I first started because I saw him being played on a stream and I had no idea what I was doing. It kind of blew me away watching someone use him the right way.

Yea it is quite fun to play too, at least to certain amount of games until it becomes too repetitive and can get quite dull.

Well I find it enjoyable. I don't tend to do anything solo because for one I don't want to lose, and secondly I would rather laugh and joke about ****ing up than having some Russian guy have a go at me because I did something wrong. I understand that this is probably because I have played such few games, but all I want to do really is play Dota when i actually get time to game, because I hardly get a chance anymore. That's one of the reasons why I stopped playing EVE Online was because I didn't have the time to commit to an MMO.

Still a little bit of a noob, don't play ranked too much but sunk a good 400 hours into Dota 2. Add me on Steam if you enjoy Australia-based video game shenanigans :)

Got my MMR on my last account

2425, exactly what I planned for. Now I can trench it up with my trench buddies and not feel bad.

I might play a couple of solo ranked games, see how I do. i know the first 5-10 will be horrendous due to them throwing me into absolutely anything, but it would be nice to know how good the system thinks I am.

Thanks man, I'm gonna need it. I only have like 140 games so far, and I'm pretty busy this next week or so, so I don't even think I'm going to be able to fit in 10 games in the next ten days.
