Your Model M collection isn't complete without the mysterious p/n 1397735, the only original IBM Model M variant with no logo.








Lexmark made a couple of logoless variants, and so has Unicomp—but the 1397735 is the only one ever cranked out by IBM itself.

I have one, and I can't describe the thrill of getting it out now and then, staring at the empty logo area, and thinking, "Why on earth was the ultra-competitive IBM willing to sell generic versions of its prized buckling-spring keebs to OEMs who could, presumably, put their own logos on them? And even if this question is never answered, wasn't it worth posting so I could italicize stuff?"

Although this one's listed as "Used", the seller describes it as "surplus, never used". And who knows what price they actually have in mind? Could you offer $50 and win it? There's only one way to find out (buh ha ha!!).

Interesting find!  It even had the thicker cable.  And I didn't go for too, too much either for a keyboard in that shape.
