It's not a monitor--it's an actual terminal, not an emulated one.
It is a vt220 terminal that is supposed to be hooked up to a server or mainframe. Jwaz has it hooked to an rpi running some flavor of Linux called lynx

1. Coolermaster is discontinuing most of the Cherry MX products and are doing the resellers a solid by letting them deplete their inventory / and or letting existing contracts expire.
The topre corporation is much larger than its keyboard niche. They could possibly have an influence on keep in it hush

In my view, a pic or two would only INCREASE the hype for the keyboard.

I agree but on the other side of the marketing scale---one would want to tread lightly when preparing for a launch such as this.
A delayed launch is much better that immaturely releasing a flawed product IMO--especially in this case when only the niche keyboard communities are generally aware of it.
Just to clarify why no pics are allowed is because we are treating this as our baby and we want to be as careful as possible. This is a global launch (CM is pretty big) unlike you've seen from our competitors in the premium keyboard segment. A lot of our overseas teams would like to keep everything synchronized.
Also we are not just targetting the mechanical keyboard enthusiast, but attempting to bring keyboard enthusiasm to the mass market. We want to grow this community and the appreciation for better technology.

I had to leave before I could present today. :rolleyes: I would love to give my little talk on polymer processing, with a slight "focus" on injection molding, at some point. I think it seems like the best option currently is to record it and upload it to youtube. So in case that results in a lot of people missing it, I'm posting here to alert you guys to this fact. Hello, all. I had a ton of fun attending my first Keycon. Was a blast to hang out with an awesome group of people. I'm glad a lot of people now are planing on buying Kendamas. This event was definitely worth the plane ticket!! I plan on going to Keycon 2015 and will hopefully have a better keyboard game there. :p
I'd like to thank Ron for hosting the event, Evilhmd, and hcry4 for giving me rides to various outings.
Gotta thank Ron again for hosting so many of us. Thanks to all the presenters, everyone who brought so many keyboards, and whomever brought the pies, cookies, and cupcakes(V1ral?).

I also apologize that I spent a lot of time with my group of friends. They wanted to come see what the hype was about, but weren't quite as interested in everything going on after the first hour or so.

Yep - something we want to take on. We made big strides in the mech market through our education efforts, so this is just continuing on that and adding new elements.

I was telling input nirvana that I really didn't wanna leave tomorrow. To all the people who came out and hung out, it was real. Saw some old friends and made some new ones. Bay area homies <3 , y'all are incredible. We'll see each other soon and play keyboards and kendama again haha.
All this positive feedback makes me realise what an overwhelmingly friendly and positive group Geekhackers are.

I repaired Massdrop's tex yoda and did some hacking / testing to see what the spare pad does (just like I said I was gonna do). Vibex helped. It was awesome.
Sadly the adhesive we had didn't seem to bond too well to the ceramic substrate so the fix didn't hold.

IMO, if you come to KeyCon you accept the unwritten waiver that any pictures can and will be posted online. ;D But that was never explicit, so people can make a fuss and that would be fine.

In the next few days, I'll be putting up pictures that I have from the con. I was also thinking of putting up IDs of who is who. Anyone from the Con not want to be identified? Should I not do this?
People who do not want to be identified generally don't go out in public. Or they shouldn't, anyway. :)
IMO, if you come to KeyCon you accept the unwritten waiver that any pictures can and will be posted online. ;D But that was never explicit, so people can make a fuss and that would be fine.
/me is fine with his name being posted.
Technically if the picture is taken *from* a public place, there is nothing that the people in the pic can say about it. The one exception is that it is illegal to shoot pictures into an ambulance.
Shoutouts to Smasher816, the only GHer who was *GEEKHACKING AT THE CON*. That Bluetooth modded HHKB was awesome :DSmasher816 and his Bluetooth HHKB were very impressive, but you missed me hacking at the con while you were stuffing your greedy face with delicious hamburgers.
I repaired Massdrop's tex yoda and did some hacking / testing to see what the spare pad does (just like I said I was gonna do). Vibex helped. It was awesome.
Sadly the adhesive we had didn't seem to bond too well to the ceramic substrate so the fix didn't hold.
And that's when I was *hacking* (walking) around, showing people thinks on the *hack* stream. :rolleyes:

I'm far from a Topre expert. Felt like 55g to me but I can't be sure. I didn't get to try the FC660C. Topre is always on my low priority when I'm at meetups.

Edit: @CommonCurt The case on the Novatouch feels quite decent. The keyboard comes with a nice velvet case and they'll most likely throw in a pack of orings. Not sure if the effect was placebo but I felt like there was a small difference even though there shouldn't be a difference when you think about it.

YEP!!! :D I've got it packaged up, I just need to find an open post office tomorrow to mail it out! You're also getting a few other goodies with it. ;) (what we had discussed briefly a few months ago but I didn't get around to)

For those of you who tried out the Novatouch: Was the typing height about the same as the QFR or did it feel like it was lower profile than that?

You should organize your own! there's lots of keyboard people on GH and DT from Europe. I think it's be a lot of fun.
