I just started pm'img people for keys as they posted the photos of them but got no bites yet......hapsters and phantom keys is that too much to ask :p

Why not a complete listing system where a user puts up an item they want to buy or sell. No thread, just like a shop of sorts, but useable by everyone and without the conventional payment system.

like a keycap trading post?

seems like a lot of work and it's hard to say if you could get everyone to cooperate

I was thinking an official geekhack thing, but I could probably do it if I had a domain/hosting. I'm sure it would be trivial to keep it funded via donations with the generosity of this community, and I'd be totally willing. The only thing is it would need a second account, whereas if geekhack just hosts it it could probably all work from one system.

I'm not terribly familiar with google docs but can we make a form that will add your user ID and what you're looking for to a list that other people can quickly open up and see?  And then people with keys can add to a different column and make a list of what's available, then come here and post pictures and we can search the thread by username to find them?

I don't claim this as my idea, I think it's what someone else was getting at originally, but I thought I'd explain my vision of how it might work to add to this discussion.

I still have a standing offer to buy Fn/Esc Row DCS keycaps that you guys don't want for 5 cents a cap. Doesn't seem like much but when you figure in that most bags have hundreds of them it can easily pay for the bag and you get to keep whatever you want to use. If you're interested just shoot me a PM.

Edit: Also I just remembered that last time I did this I traded some polish keycaps for them instead, that works too, but don't do like last time and not send your keys because I never got my end of the trade. ::)

I would be more than willing to help develop a system like the one suggested for GH, sort of our own CraigsList. Users can list what they want, and what they have. Easy to search and find.

A form + Google Doc can work fine as well for now, however problem is updating it whenever someone has found their treasure.

Or we can have just a spreadsheet for members above x posts and hope they don't mess up the sheet when making changes.

Maybe we should have the really clean and neat solution and then a "SP Crap Bag Lounge - Relax while other people find you your treasures" thread where we can keep chatting and being friendly.

The problem with the chat is that it hides people's wants with filler conversation. No one who is selling caps will want to read page after page of posts to try to find one post for someone who wants to buy that cap...

But the beauty of the chat means that anyone wanting to sell just has to post a photo and the chat keeps the thread at the top of the list...

I always pictured mountains of crap keys lying around on the floor and someone coming along with plastic bags and a shovel and loading them up to sell us. Then the floors are squeaky clean again.

Now I've got that picture permanently in my mind of how they arrange these crap bags.

Just got my bag but just a bunch of crap... lol... as expected I guess. I will post some pictures later if anyone wants anything.

Feel free to post pics here: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=46475
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'm selling my stash.  Here is a link to photos.  FYI, some are sold already.  I put purple dots on the ones that sold already.

Shipping in CONUS is looking to be about $3.00, including shipping materials and postage.

HAPSTER IS SOLD!

I'm interested in two 1.25x DSA plum keys with the same legend.  I've got a mountain of 1.0x DSA stuff to trade, but if you can tell me what you want, I can try to dig it out specifically.

Regarding The Blue Hapster: since three people messaged me the first day I mentioned it, you'd have to make it very worth my while, because it's so damn cute. :>  You know how tall a Row 1 keycap is... think a stack of 50,000 won notes the same height.

If you got some blank pink caps, I'd love to get them off of you.  Same with a 1.25x white on black diamond cap, the cap with five dots on it (the glider cap), hapster, other interesting/unusual caps and some Alps caps if you get any.

Glider, for reference:

It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

There is a dark-grey with orange Legends double-shot keys in the bags. (This is not the charcoal - orange legend set on Originative. ) I'm trying to put together a full set of modifiers or more of that set.  I will buy or trade for any keys from that set. Just PM me. Thanks

I don't know if it will be soon enough, but the Tai Hao GB is likely to result in a glut of unwanted 7x blue space bars (also black, red, green and yellow).
