Still not perfect, but at least its not bubbles that are causing the issues now!

Thanks man! I may be able to cast a new one tonight. Got the new box of oomoo in last night, made the first 1/2 of the mold before bed and poured the 2nd part this morning before work. She's sitting in the pressure pot right now. Hopefully I didn't eff something up..

Really interesting to see the progress you're making (you move so fast!). Seeing a lot of improvement with the pressure pot! Those purp goombas are looking quite tasty d:
Thanks! I feel like I"m moving so slow, I'm glad to see someone things I'm moving quickly.

great improvement!!!
Thank you! I'm excited to start getting some caps out to my 'backers'. I sent them DM on reddit this morning with progress shots. Everyone seems pretty excited about the purps.
I love that you're active in posting updates. It looks like you're progressing nicely and it's nice to see you're excited about it.
So I might have had a small nightmare about casting last night.. Guess that tells you something about whats on my mind currently.

I just really want gumdrops now :))

Still have one minor issue, but the second cap I cast last night didn't have it so I might have that sorted out. I did some heavy sanding on the master before making this mold, and now that I have a few to test I'll see how well they fit on my board + macropad today. Might need to do some more sanding..

Test fitting on a display board.

The OG goomba had some fitting issues with the large lip -

So I spent some time with a few pieces of sandpaper and the master over the weekend.

Still a little snug, but I think it works.

Interestingly enough from this photo it looks like the OG gooms has more clearance. It doesn't.

Now to cut out the mx stem, cast a few caps sans stems and make a few bases out of mx + topre + alps. More updates to follow tomorrow :D

Just a heads up

I found topre and alps to need the same technique for making the stems mold work correctly.

And alps is super easy to get a decent cast of the stem, while topre is seemingly more difficult.

all that said, I dont have a pressure pot like you do...

I'm sure you noticed the drastic improvement in the stem on the mold earlier, I'm hoping that a topre stem will work out equally well when curing under pressure.

I've gotta say though, the pressure pot is almost like magic. I'm so glad I sold my SA sets & artisans& placeholders to get some better equipment. I'm really curious to know how a vac pot will help the process, and a high pressure valve in the pressure pot.

Listerine Goomba?
Love the name! I think I'll use it when I do a public sale.

Oh yea, the difference is night and day, and goes without saying.

Im really happy for you to be able to get this sweet set up.

I think you got the big change out of the way, and the vacuum will just be a nice compliment to the pressure.

IMO working on projects and creating stuff is much more satisfying than collecting cap sets and hoarding **** lol.

Doesn't look bad from here.

Whaaa wha

So, solved the problem!

J/k, here's what it looks like on the macro pad

And after more work tonight

Its still going to end up being a snug cap, but I think we're in a spot now

Nope, not yet. I should get around to it one of these days. I figure I'm doing good just getting the casting process down better, then I can expand after that.

Are blanks worth while to make?

Updates!

And if you look at the set on the left, you can see they are touching then if you look at the right hand set you can see they aren't touching. I would guess that the goombas will fit on any board now. I'll give it a shot on the magicforce 68 on Monday.

Tried mixing too little for the black, it didn't cure so thats all a goopy mess.
Next time, I'll not make that same mistake.

I'm thinking Random.org will be very valuable in my future. I also will add a caveat on my sale posts that anyone who wants to trade for caps I'm looking to acquire will get top priority! At least thats what I'm thinking now, I haven't worked out the specifics yet.

I actually already have a private list of folks waiting for the goombas, I think I'll do a private sale first before I do a public one. Need to make sure everyone is okay with the quality first and foremost.

I have sent a few out as gifts to friends who have helped me out along the way, their reviews should provide valuable insight into the caps and if they'll stand up to a public release.

Thank you thank you! I'm super excited to get my backers caps in the mail, and I'll have enough after that to start reaching out to my private R1 list. Shouldn't be more than a week or so and I'll be posting public R1 on /mechmarket. Gotta keep that small though, don't want to die.

Wifey sculpted a cap
Triple shot success!

Just relieved you're not lying in a ditch somewhere.

:D with a missing box of goombas!

btw your friend jumped in for a blind box gooms - you'll have that in your package.
Oh did he? Yeah ship it to me, I'll make sure he gets it......
:D You two can sort that out!

Minor update

I've got a few gooms ready to head out, but I think I'll wait till they are all ready to go out for my backers.

4X is curing as I type this - also notice the far left stem..

First time triple shots have come out close to correct. The black could be darker, but I'm 100% happy with these guys.

It was cold the other night in the basement, so when I pulled this one out it was still mushy, so I mushed it a little more. Sadly the  stem didn't make it, otherwise this baby'd be on my keyboard.

And as promised, my wife did a first pass on a sculpt. I present the golden snitch

Holy Crap!!!! Both of those new sculpts look amazing. Absolutely love the detail work on the chain on your sculpture as well as the wing shape on your wife's! Great job man.
