I'm looking for a Topre switch keyboard. $200 paypal

Must be small (hhkb, 86u, etc.) Good condition is a plus

Shipping to 94596

I'm also interested in any Otaku styled or tenkeyless you might have (with the exception of cherry mx blues, I have some and don't like them)

I have a black text on black key HHKB Pro 2.  All I have are the cord and keyboard.  I threw out the original manual and box because as minimalist I am, if I can find it online, I recycle the unimportant paper.  I've been using for about 2 years now, and it has never failed me :) http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=pfu_keyboards,hhkbpro2&pid=pdkb400b

The keyboard has been in a smoke-free environment, and I have always washed my hands before using the keyboard, and no one else besides me has used it.  I would say it's a 7 out of 10 in condition.

I'm trying to sell my black text on black key HHKB because I'm changing the decor of my workspace, as I am now moving to a new room somewhere in SF (94103).  I'm looking to buy a black text on white key HHKB http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=pfu_keyboards,hhkbpro2&pid=pdkb400w

Questions are welcome :)
For my used keyboard, how does $212.50 + $12.50 UPS Ground sound?

Respond here or PM, either is fine :)

Keep in mind, the HHKB doesn't feel as nice as the Realforce line.  If you are looking for a HHKB to try out Topres, you might be a little unimpressed.

The HHKB is not quite as "buttery" as the RF.  It feels a little closer to a standard rubber dome.

The Realforce offer different keyboards with different weighted keys.  You can get a Realforce with either variable weight (35g, 45g, 55g) or you can get it with uniform 55g key weight.  The HHKB Pro has uniform 45g weight.  Many people have said they think it is ideal (people have modded their Realforce to replicate this).  But just like everything with keyboards; again I think it comes down to personal preference.  The selling points of the HHKB Pro are the small form factor, unique layout and great looks (and of course the Topre switch).  I myself have never tried a Realforce, and I am curious to what model you have?  Are you using the 55g uniform version?  Maybe this is why it feels more "buttery" to you?  I am not sure.  I am curious though as I have not heard that before.

I have the variable weight.  The mounting plate in the Realforce is metal compared to the plastic one in the HHKB.  As far as anyone can tell, this is what causes the difference in feel which is fairly significant between the HHKB and the RF.  I would buy a Realforce for the feel and a HHKB for the layout.

Now I'm second guessing myself. I'm not sure if it's worth paying $200 for a keyboard that feels "closer to a rubber dome."
I do like the layout and compact size though.

If only there were a way to test one out.

IMHO, a HHKB Pro is NOTHING like a standard rubber dome in feel.

My HHKB feels nothing like a rubber dome either.  The feedback is superb and there is a definite tactile feel to it also.  The *thunking* sound of the keystrokes like nothing else imo.

The HHKB doesn't feel like any rubber dome I've ever tried, but I think the main reason I bought mine was for it's portability, size, and layout.  It doesn't feel bad at all imo.  Still looking forward to trying a realforce someday.

I'll hop in too and say mine also doesn't feel like a rubber dome. Not even a nice membrane board like a keytronic or a sun doesn't come close. I'm definitely curious to try a variable weight realforce, but I just can't handle the layout.

I definitely bought the HHKB for the layout and the switch. Portability was of lesser importance to me. If only Topre was as easy to work with as Unicomp, I'd have a board custom made with the HHKB layout on a realforce.

I'm sure there are people in your area that would have one to try out, if you looked around.
HHKB Pro 2 -- Custom UNIX layout Unicomp Customizer 101 -- IBM Model M 1391401 (modded to UNIX layout) -- IBM 1397000 (also UNIX layout) -- SSK in UNIX layout -- Model F 122 key in UNIX layout (Soarer USB "native")

CST L-TracX trackball -- Kensington Expert Mouse trackball

I've got a Topre 86u with the black-on-black keys that I've been thinking of selling in case anyone's still interested.  It looks and feels virtually like new, I just couldn't get used to the "semi-otaku" style keys, so I replaced it with a 103-key white version (103U-UW from Elitekeyboards...unfortunately at the time they weren't listing a tenkeyless version with high contrast keys, though I see they have a white one in stock now).
