UPDATE 25th of April, 2019
All wasdats have been shipped to the vendors and to a few people who have entered through the Google Form. Extras will be available on my website very soon. Keyhive bought essentially all of the extras I had, lol.

What is this?
The wasdat is a drop-in replacement controller board designed for the WASD V2 TKL & 104-key models which can be installed without soldering.
It's fully programmable using QMK Firmware and programming is easy. I have tested prototypes and they fully work for ANSI and ISO models.

All wasdats come preflashed with the QMK DFU bootloader, which means the capslock led flashes and you can escape using the ESC key.
It also has the stock keymap with FN key.
No soldering is required as everything, including the pin header, is presoldered. The PCBs will be green like the picture.

Please note:
This controller is designed and confirmed to be working with the WASD V2 only, NOT the WASD CODE!
There will be a group buy for the CODE TKL & 104-key controller later on.
By installing this controller in your keyboard you are possibly voiding your warranty. Use at your own risk.

Features
  • Compatible with the WASD V2 TKL & 104-key models
  • Fully programmable with QMK Firmware using ATmega32U4
  • Pre-programmed with a default layout
  • Supports ANSI and ISO models
  • Supports the capslock and scrollock leds
  • First dip switch is a reset button
  • Easily accessible ISP header (for flashing bootloader..)

Installation/use
  • Make sure all dip switches are in the 'off' position.
  • Remove the single screw on the bottom behind the warranty void sticker.
  • Open the case using a pry tool. There are four tabs on the bottom and top, two on each side.
  • Take out the original controller.
  • Insert the wasdat, make sure to insert the pins correctly.
  • Close the case and put the screw back.
  • Read up on the QMK Documentation and get going!

Timeline
The group buy runs from today to next month, 25th of December.
The group buy has been extended because of the 104-key compatibility, so the 2nd of January is the new end date.

You can order at a vendor if you are in the EU/US or nearby countries, but ordering from me is possible as well using the 'Rest of the world' link.
Please support your local vendors as much as you can.
Depending on the amount of orders I will assemble the PCBs by hand or pick-and-place machine.
Shipping will happen in January or February of 2019.

Pricing
The price for one PCB is less than 30 USD includes paypal fees.
If you buy at a vendor your order will be handled and shipped by them.

Order here:

US: https://keyhive.xyz/shop/wasdat-controller
EU: http://groupbuys.mechboards.co.uk/shop/wasdat-group-buy/
Rest of the world: https://goo.gl/3BUzXv

If you have any questions, please ask and thanks for reading this post. Updates on the group buy will be posted here as well.

Hey everyone, the controller will support the 104-key (fullsize) model as well now! Because of that news, I decided to extend the group buy for one week.

Merry Christmas!

A prototype (probably the last because it's working on my TKL) is on its way to someone with a 104-key model to test it. Let's hope it all works and I can start production soon!

Ordering parts tonight. Which pcb color would you guys want? Available are matte white, red, blue, yellow and matte black.
EDIT: Matte white doesn't exist, it's just white.

Parts have been ordered and I'll produce them as soon as possible. Sorry for the huge delay, though I hope you're going to be happy with the product.
Extras will be available on my website maartenwut.com after every order has been shipped.

All boards have been assembled and flashed, just need to fully solder the header pins and test them in my own WASD v2 :)

Looking good. Blue was a good color choice.
I'm about to swap out the switches on my WASD, so this is good timing if it's nearing completion.

Which one is mine?

Hello everyone, just a little PSA:

The bags they come in are a little bit too small which means I can get a controller in but it's hard to get it out. Don't bother trying, just take a pair of scissors to cut the esd bag open.

Thank you Maarten. This works great.
I was able to get a new keymap loaded on my WASD v2 TKL.

Somebody school me if there is there anyway to turn on/off the Scroll Lock LED with QMK? (On the TKL)
(Maybe this LED isn't even connected on the TKL PCB. I forgot to look.)
I was hoping to turn it on for when I was on another layer or perhaps if my sound was muted.

My QMK knowledge is basic at best.

The control of the leds is in wasdat.c, you need to edit that.

Just a quick note to say my wasdat arrived in the mail yesterday!  After some furious unscrewing, prying, more prying, installing, and reassembly, I plugged my keyboard in and... it worked perfectly straight away.

I then headed over to the QMK Configurator (which now supports wasdat, as the wasdat code was recently merged into the QMK mainline), generated a layout for my TKL, dropped it into a fresh checkout of the QMK tree, hand-tweaked, built, installed and... flawless victory!

Thanks for all the hard work!  This is a fantastic upgrade, at a very reasonable price, for an already very nice keyboard!

Little demo of the new Wasdat Code controller using VIA!

Also, the wasdat (normal version) supports VIA as well thanks to @fauxpark.

Any chance the Wasdat Code will work with the regular v2, and if not, will the original ever come back?

The Wasdat Code, as the name implies, only works with the CODE V2. All V3 models have a controller that cannot be replaced. And yes, the normal Wasdat will be available too.
