What's with this 'awaiting approval' stuff?
« on: Mon, 04 March 2013, 16:40:23 »
So recently whenever I post a thread I'm getting this 'awaiting approval' message. Is this because of all the recent flame threads of what? Is it me? Have I been flagged for some reason?

Happened to me too. Seems like they're screening every new thread. Takes about a day or two in my experience.

It's only in certain subforums, notably interest checks and group buys.

it can also be the spam filter misclassifying you. the spam filter doesn't notify us where these posts are, so they can escape attention for a little while sometimes.

Avoid putting more than one link or one picture for the first post to avoid getting stuck in said spam filter. If you need more then make an edit.

Why would everything with more than 1 link or picture be caught by the spam filter? Many interest check/groupbuy OPs have dozens...

I don't know what the exact criteria is, I only observed it is less likely to go into waiting approval if there isn't a bunch.

This morning I had a new thread hit pending approval -- and I am an admin.  It did have a bunch of external links, however.

FYI, every mod and admin sees a message in the page header while anything needs attention, so you should get pretty quick resolution if the post is benign.

And, as far as I can tell, there are currently no flagged turtles, noisy or otherwise.

Just started a GB thread with no links and it still needs approval :(

All GB threads require approval.

Thank You :)

I had a msg that was "awaiting approval".  I waited patiently for around 5 days and finally just gave up.  I bet the lonely msg is still there, waiting for an approval that will never come.  Reminds me of when I was a kid and my parents would "forget" me and leave me at the mall or at church or in the woods and I would wait there forever until some stranger found me...

Hmmm...I don't see anything from you in the log.  Is it still there?  What subforum?

Well howzabout that!  It eventually got approved at some point:

I guess it thought it was spam because I had a link in the msg.
