Love this watch every day! I am so thankful for the Atomic + Solar feature combination. Talk about service-free. Will eventually upgrade to something in the G-Shock aviation series when I am fancy enough.
We have the same watch!

What I use.Lol..... You should root it and put a rom on it lol. I can't use my phone now that I have a watch lol....
Today: the zilla.
^It is even more impressive on the wrist. It is 48mm diameter x 18mm tall.
Today: TiCN BFK. At werk, so no lume pix.
Well, a monster is always impressive. :thumb:

The Banks by Nixon. Each dial has it's own independent components/battery and the main battery needs replacing now as well as the second hand on the small lower dial. So I'll be heading to a jeweler this week most likely.Show Image(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/21/tate9agu.jpg)
This is one of my favorite G-Shocks. It wears very small on the wrist without looking tiny. Super comfy. I love the white outer dial on yours, but I don't really like the tan bezel and band... Then again, I have the ugly olive drab version :)Show Image(https://googledrive.com/host/0B9ulpKPzfGXEN2p2NFN0czRVUjg/G-Shock.jpg)
Like "dress" type lol. I love your g-shock lol.... Maybe one day casio edifice series....I'm liking this.... I am looking for more "adult" watches.
How adult? I would recommend a BJ7010 for younger adult look. I'd post mine but I am wearing the orange king today.
Edit, pix added of the king. Bad composition because trying to avoid crystal reflection.
Do you need it to fit under dress shirt cuffs? Wrist circumference? Budget? Any color preferences? That looks cool lol. Something like that lol. Still need to sell some things to get one.
edit: my BJ7010 ;o~~ probably not what you're looking for if you want a dressy one.

Just curious - those with the bigger, heavier watches - do they tend to throw your balance off while typing?
Back when I used to wear a watch, I found that it did, and I preferred to remove the watch whilst typing.

Back when I used to wear a watch, I found that it did, and I preferred to remove the watch whilst typing.
I stopped wearing a watch years ago partly due to the weight imbalance it was causing while typing, and also because I started carrying around other devices with time on them - a pen, a PDA, iPod touch and so on.
Do all you with these fancy watches actually wear them on a regular basis?

There was a period where I didn't wear a watch because I was using my phone, but sometime during winter I found it too much hassle to dig into my pockets to find my phone, so I started wearing a watch again, and since then I've worn one every time I leave the flat.
I also find that analogue clock faces are better for me; it takes me a tiny bit longer to tell what time it is, but when the time is laid out like that it makes it far easier to grasp how long for instance 10 or 15 minutes is, which makes it easier to plan ahead.

Sure!
The Bulova is a Bulova 46981 Diver's watch. It's basically acopyhomage of Rolex's iconic Submariner II.
It's my daily beater watch which is why the bezel is so scratched up, the date cyclops is chipped, and so on... I don't have any nicer watches yet LOL
The Omas is, as you've seen, a Milord. Specifically, it's a 90s version (slightly newer ones have a roller wheel at the clip, and the current models are much larger, heavier, and made of other materials). The nib is an extra fine that can flex quite decently; one of my favorite pens in the bunch.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/XxB0UVX.jpg)
PS: Is there a topic in one of the subforums here to discuss FPs? Perhaps I've missed it.

Yes. I don't wear it very often: it's a bit too shiny. My diver is less bling bling.
That's really nice. A shame you don't wear it more often :)
Rolex Submariner (model 14060M, non-COSC, from 2005 or 2006: not too sure anymore) on a NATO strap... Picture taken close to its HHKB Pro JP buddy (as I'm wearing that watch every single day and all day long and as I'm a software dev, these two spend a lot of time together) :DGood God, that's a beaut.

It's no Bell & Ross, but it's a helluva lot cheaper and the aesthetic is similar, so I'm happy.
Wanting to get a new strap, but for some reason they chose to use 23mm instead of something more common like 22 or 24. I've heard 24mm NATO straps fit fine on 23mm tho, so I'll probably give that a go.
After months of hesitance, I finally decided to make my initial dive into getting some functioning mechanical watches. I'll probably have my local horologist clean and lube them up and get them in top running condition, or at least as good as watches of their age can run.
I got this 1940's Era Hamilton (I think) with a 987s movement off Craigslist:

Think that you could open up the back of the case and take a look at the movement inside? For most vintage American watches, there are online databases that can give more information about the model and production date, based on the serial number.

Green is brightest initially bar none. But it has this cream/snot color in daylight.
orange lume that glows orange is kinda weak, but it is UV reactive.
Blue lume looks whitest in daylight.
The G-Shock has orange looking lume that glows yellow. Very interesting.
There are some lume that looks orange that glows green.

I generally agree that most Rolex are forgettable. I do like the new Submariner with the ceramic bezel (no date of course), and the Deepsea Sea Dweller. I really can't see myself spending that much for a tool watch. Watch collecting is about having fun. People will stare at you with a blank face if you tell them about Pateks, Audemars Piquets, etc. The nice thing about Rolex is that if you bought one, they do keep the value pretty good on the 2nd hand market thanks to the strong Rolex marketing. Don't be put off by Rolex because of the pricks that wear them. They're good watches. (Whether or I think they're worth the money is another issue all together ;))
The specifications of RGM says RGM/ETA movement. So it is likely it is just a modified ETA movement done in house. Who built the base ebache only have some effect on the final assembled movement. It is up to their marketing to call it an American movement. It is swiss tradition to use ebauches. In house movement movement (;)) is a recent marketing fad.
It reminds me of car manufacturers and coachbuilders.

Anyhow, dressy Orients always make me instantly want to hit the buy now button. Here is one (Orient Millennium). I'll post other ones when I get around to it... whenever that is. :p

@Evo_Spec
One thing I love about Orients is that they're still assembled/cased in Japan. If lower end Orients impresses you... wait 'til you try on an Orient Star or Royal Orient. Overall, they're really a cut above their Seiko Cousins. I still love my Seikos of course ;)
I like taking pictures of what I am wearing at the time rather than photographing the entire collection. Time to savor each one ;) Some in the collection have only been wear may be 1 or 2 times, and they're back into the original box until I just have to wear it again (I have a pretty set watch rotation, and only squeeze in some other watches occasionally). It'll be a grand undertaking to do the entire collection.
I don't do G-Shocks anymore as well. Resin rot :( I only buy them if I just have to have it in the collection. You know like if it is orange ;)
PS, I don't venture outside of this particular thread much any more. I still like keyboards but I think I've own all that I want to own for now ;)
I'd put on a G-Shock when working on the car. The finish and the Hardlex crystal won't stand up to that kind of abuse. That is if you want to keep it looking new of course. Gift from the wife... I think it is better keeping it looking presentable ;)Yeah it's not even that i "put on" the watch to work on the car it's just that i randomly decide it's a good idea to shove my hand in the engine bay to do some random **** that doesn't really need to be done lol
I do have a watch winder that I rarely use, since I don't wear most of my watches that much. Keeping them running is just extra wear and tear. If you're going to wear it everyday, and only taking it off on the weekends.... I'd say a watch winder is fine so you don't need to worry about setting your watch on monday mornings. Other way around... I would skip the winder. Just set it when you put it on. I don't bother with setting day/dates/AM/PM. Set the time and go. Unless of course, you need precise day/dates on the weekend.
I believe Seiko cases are cast and stamped out in China, and final finishing at the place of assembly (Japan or Malaysia). Most of the work is done by same machines, so I am not particularly obsessed with MIJ label. I have had QC problems with MIJ watches too.

Back around 1990 my father (who owns one of the largest restorers of vintage clocks and watches) bought a significant amount of parts from a company that foreclosed on one of Tissot's old factories. They separate much of the parts into a kind of "blind box" and auction/sell them to make some small profits. Being in the business of repairing vintage time pieces, having old parts straight from the factory is much more preferable to machining new parts or using somewhat new condition used parts. After buying a few lots, one of our watch makers noticed the cloth sack which contained the fully assembled chronograph inside. After opening it up it became apparent it had never been run and was probably intended to be sold before the factory closed. Since then it sat in our safe for a few decades. After me happening upon it, my father decided to give it to me (after a hasn't-been-used-in-50-years tune up). He gave it to me for my 21st birthday and told me that there was nothing better a watchmaker could give his own son.

Anyone got the Apple Watch? That will be my next watch.
I had a Jacques Cousteau watch a long, long time ago...it has since been lost under the sea (figuratively unfortunately).

Whats useful about the apple watch? I found it to be incredibly slow, unintuitive and astronomically expensive, for one that looks nice, it costs more than my 120gb iPhone 6, which it needs to work anyway... madness

iPhone 6 128GB is $849, and the watch is at $399. So the phone is still more expensive ;)
But no way in hell am I going to put $399 into their first version of that watch

Like I said, I'm using UK money and an Apple Watch that actually looks nice, not the small cheapo one with the nasty rubber band (really who the **** pays £300 for a watch with a rubber strap)

You could get the Apple sports watch (£399), and then get a different wristband (£129) for a total of £468. That is still a lot cheaper than a £699 128GB iPhone. But I can understand that you would want nothing but the best (we are mechanical keyboard users) and could only settle for the £12000 model ;)

But lets back to watches :D
I'm not sure if I should just go ahead and treat myself to a nice Seiko or wait for a good looking smart watch

I'd like to hear from people on the street about the Apple Watch than review sites or newsprint. How does battery fair? Does it scratch easily? How practical is it as a watch?

~Kinetic. Wish it was solar...
ugh, wish I could have a nice watch like all you guys, too bad I lose everything :)). I've been eyeing something like this (https://www.jackthreads.com/mvmt/watches/classic-tan-leather-watch/products/174084) though. Really love the simplistic look
MDV are great watches for the price. LOVE the marlin logo. I want a silver dial version :o
Edit: This was on the wrist today.
40th Anniversary King Diver reissue. The super thick crystal gives a ton of internal reflection.
I like my divers to be more lively. Orange and blue dials are the cat's meow for me.
My dress watches are much more sedated ;)
Edit: example ;o
I toned the leather to be a bit darker since it was pictured last.
My bday present to myself is here early ;o~
Yeah it looks awesome. Lines are so clean. I wear it at work most days and it gets banged around quite a bit but the case hasn't got a single scratch on it yet. Next watch is the NOMOS tangomat GMT or Tudor Black Bay blue

That's really good to hear on the staying clean part. My favorite watch I own (Citizen BM6400-00e) is just about my daily driver, but it's showing some of its wear. As much as I enjoy that Tudor, I think that NOMOS looks magnificent. At this point, I think the Rolex Explorer II is my dream watch, largely for its GMT function and classic design. I definitely want a GMT watch, so that's a large reason why I suggest the NOMOS.
I've been perusing for another watch. I would really enjoy a Casio EF-503D-7AVDF - WW and put it on one of my leather straps, but I think I'm going for a Seiko SNK795 this Christmas. I've been looking into modding it to fit into the Flieger style. Plan on going with a domed crystal and either hands similar to your Damasko, or those with distinct arrows at the end. My only problem is finding an aftermarket Flieger style dial I enjoy. I'm holding out hope for my first real watch either for my college graduation or save for it with my new job, but we'll see when we get there.

I tried the NOMOS on in Bangkok a couple of weeks ago and was so damn close to whipping out the credit card. Actually it was already out but I could tell my partner was not too happy haha.
The seiko 5 series watches look great and are very affordable. I've wanted one for a while but i have too many watches already. The explorer is definitely an amazing watch and you should be able to find a good as new one for an alright price. I'd defs be jelly if you got one

Haha, that's too bad on the NOMOS. Someone in my extended family won a Rolex in a raffle and sold it. He used the money to buy a car. My whole family proceeded to talk about how stupid expensive watches are, meanwhile I sat silent. Stupidly expensive, I agree, but I also want to own one of those someday. I'd love to get the Omega Speedmaster (Professional, most likely) and an Omega Railmaster first. I just love how both of those look. The Seiko is more in my price range, plus I don't own a Seiko, and I feel like I need one. Whether moded or not, they still look great.
The explorer does just look so darn good though. I apologize, I continue to mix the explorer up with the GMT Master II. The GMT Master II in pepsi and red/black dials are two of my favorite watches ever made, but I could own several Speedmasters for the cost of one GMT Master II.

The speedmaster is and always will be a classic. THey have kept their value so well and look perfect IMO. My dream watch would be the black Dark side of the moon but i don't think dropping 13k on a watch at the moment is a good idea haha. I reckon you should go with a nice used speedmaster professional for your graduation. Can't ever go wrong with that.
Haha, I was gonna save up and buy a Dark Side of the Moon, but I spent the money on something else. May be I'll buy one next year... after some other big purchases ;)
I need a watch to look fancy! What should I get?

I have an old Submariner knockoff I bought like 20+ years ago and it still works!
What other big purchase could be more important than a Dark Side of the Moon Speedmaster?? haha. Good luck with the purchase. I'd love to see plenty of photos!
These are NOT mine. I would never ever be able to afford either of these.
However, these are my pictures that I took. I'm not actually allowed to photograph jewelry in stores but I did anyway because these are just too beautifulShow Image(http://i.imgur.com/WJy1gaF.jpg)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/H8GzUQK.jpg?2)

Big Ferrari fan, and I just love how it looks ^^
Ah ah, offtopic but I can't resist, here's the toy I bought one year ago or so (it was basically the only "affordable" V8 two-seater Ferrari)... Since then the price skyrocketted so I'm glad I pulled the trigger and so far no issue. Handling is not that great, it's not that powerful at all (only 300 bhp), kinda heavy and it's already 25 years old. But it's IMHO one of the most beautiful car ever created (and it doesn't look anything like these modern supercars without any soul, which basically all look the same due to aerodynamics). I also don't understand why they don't make cars with retractable headlights anymore: it just looks soooooo much better that way...

348 and 355 are my favorite ferraris of the modern era. New ones lack soul.
166 Inter is my all time favorite.
Ahem, I like the 355 better as well, but you know didn't want to say it ;) Flipper lights are awesome. I lean more toward the Esprit V8, but you know the unreliability of the Esprit line is legendary.

Yep! The daily use of the electronic ones is quite nice--especially the ability to change the face to match whatever occasion. Those digital watches are pretty nice, but there's also something to the detail and tactility of a well made chunk of metal.
I have a well made chunk of metal for more formal occasions. I like my Apple Watch for daily stuff since it tracks my activity in addition to being a good substitute for my phone.

I REALLY like Skagens, I've been thinking about getting one for my next watch.
My dad broke it to me and my brother this weekend, his dad gives him £1500 every April which he sometimes spends on a new watch. He's decided to split that between me and my brother next year, so we both get £750 to spend on a watch :3 I have no idea what I'm going to get, don't know if I should save up and try and get like £2k together and buy a Tag Heur Monaco...

Awesome shots man, the blue really pops, but still looks modest. I particularly like the final shot, that gold frame is really nice.
Also, anyone with an alligator strapped watch, does the leather crack at the grooves quickly? Or is it stronger than regular leather? I'm kinda worried that it will split

sorry, not a great photo - my 1968 cyma mechanical watch, bought new by my father with the proceeds of his first job
i love how slim it is - it's like some sort of retro swatch sort of profile. I've not seen many other red marble faced watches either.
Also - roman numerals go I II III IV V not I II III IIII V ! always seemed kind of strange.

I've never been a real watch guy, but I do like how these pieces incorporate my favorite elements from my other love--cars. Too bad they cost as much as cars.
Even though I'm not a fan of watch faces that cover the entire wrist, these were remarkably well-balanced on the hand and the titanium on the mp4-12c was a very masculine matte finish with still some texture to it. A very nice piece. I had no idea how much these type of watches cost at the time. Imagine my sticker shock when he told me how much!Very nice!

Love the basic face on this! How does that strap feel after a long day? I only use leather right now but have seen that tweedy material being used on a lot of minimalist watches lately, am afraid to take my chances and hate the strap :p

Hmm yeah MVMT watches can be a big large depending on how big your wrist/person is. So that's what the French programmers drive? I am moving to France.Big Ferrari fan, and I just love how it looks ^^

Not the craziest watch collection but I've been trying to start one up.
The color is off by a bit so I'll explain the bands. The left leather strap is an alligator print brown leather strap that came with my Hamilton Jassmaster Open Heart and the strap to the right of it is a very dark red leather strap from worn and wound and then the metal band that came with my Seiko SARB033. The other 4 are a purple, red and black, yellow, and fuchsia nato/braided nylon straps.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/jXW51Nv.jpg)
Thanks! The Hamilton is awesome but I'm not in love with the strap it came with. It could be my tiny wrists or the fact the strap hasn't been broken in but the padding makes it stiff/ uncomfortable. Either way I still love how the skeleton portion is asymmetrical, keeps it mechanical without being in your face about it.Not the craziest watch collection but I've been trying to start one up.

Mirin your collection. Love the reverso. Do you have a wrist shot?
Been looking around for a nice diver watch recently, Squale has caught my eye and so has Orient. I can dream for now, might have to wait a couple of years to get what I want.I'm currently looking around for a Squale 20 Atmos Classic, love the sub mariner look but it'll be a long long time before I can afford a Rolex. :))

Massive undertaking today,
I set all my quartz watches' date and timed each one.
Being the recorder keeper that I am, some interesting stuff:
My G9000 went through the year at +6 seconds. I did not wear it a single time, and it sped up during the winter.
Precisionist that claims <10SPY. Well, almost double that. +17seconds. Again I didn't wear it much and it mostly sped up during winter as well. It was +7seconds at November.
1 of my G-Shock went ridiculously fast. Since I set it in end of Nov. +87seconds!
1 of my Solar stopped for 1 day. Oops :p I guess I didn't notice the double ticking when I picked it up 2 days ago.
My kinetic only stays at 1-3month charge in the winter ;( Hard to get it in the 4-6month range.
All but 2 of my quartz ran in the positive SPD since Nov.
Average time differential is 18seconds. ~6seconds per month.
:)

I've been looking for a burgundy nato for my SKX175 & unable to find just the right color. Where is your purple/burgundy nato from?
And i'm not sure how you guys feel about fakes, but my brother bought me a pretty good replica of a MilgaussShow Image(http://i.imgur.com/bUieskE.jpg)
Nice fake
I bought one of these in Thailand a few years ago and got really upset when it stopped ticking the following morning
Took me a day to realise that it was actually such a good fake that it had the self winding movement and it had just run out from not being worn :D
That is a damn accurate fake.
They just flubbed up on the minute hand.

That's nice man. I bought my gf a DW for Christmas. I really like how simple they are.
My Squale 20 Atmos Classic arrived today so I decided to take a family picture. I'd like to say I won't buy a 4th watch this year but if I find the funds for a Zodiac Sea Dragon I'll probably buy one. :))

Would anyone be able to recommend me a nice Mechanical watch?
I've heard good things about them, just don't know what brands are good.

guys i dropped my watch a few times and now it's slow losing like a minute every 24 hours how to fix
After a while deciding what introductory luxury watch I wanted for my 20th birthday I decided to buy a 35mm Nomos Tangente. Found a perfect condition Wempe 125th anniversary edition with box, papers, and service history on WUS.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/fRnErxM.jpg)
The silver dial is hard to photograph, it has a matte finish but reacts to light like it has a sunburst effect. The dial changes from bright slightly metallic white to a medium grey depending on the light.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/hrh2Lmc.jpg)
I didn't think I'd like the gold movement as much as the normal movement but in the end I prefer the finishing on the gold movement.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/l1t1rAQ.jpg)
I couldn't be more thrilled with the purchase, I'd highly recommend the brand to anyone. I'm surprised the watches don't retail for more. If something like the NC meetup happens again I'll make sure to bring the Tangente with me. :)After a while deciding what introductory luxury watch I wanted for my 20th birthday I decided to buy a 35mm Nomos Tangente. Dammit JQ I've been staring at Nomos for a couple of years now. I'm jealous, what a beauty.
I really like Metro Datum Gangreserve, but it's too small for my hand and doesn't match my clothes style :(I love the smaller Nomos cases! You should try one on, the classic sizing looks so much better than some of the 42-45mm+ watches being made today.

Nice GMT. Orient Stars definitely have some of the best fit and finish in watches under 1k.
That crown guard though. Wish it was integrated into the case.
Back to the Caravelle. Something about it's weight and size. It feels so right.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/QqQYAkV.jpg)
Thanks.
I think the busy dial is big part of the appeal to me. Vast majority of my collection is boring black dialed divers. This is a bit of an antithesis to that along with my ugliest watch of all time: SKA425 (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=54506.msg1514755#msg1514755).
I've been trying to add a bit more colors to the collection; mainly blue and orange divers. I'll add a few more pilots watch along with some field watches (SARB017 has been calling my name). My new rule for the year is unless it is some special edition, or has something special about it, I can't add it to the collection.

Such a gorgeous understated watch. It's on my want list but there are quite a few pieces ahead of it.
In the end I know I want a spring drive piece in my collection, the movement itself is fascinating.
The movement is a technological masterpiece! I just love the sweeping seconds hand and the craftsmanship of Grand Seiko's are second to none.
The Rolex is still in the picture but i moved it down the line cos i know i will get it eventually. Nice Nomos btw, I was so close to getting a Nomos Tangomat GMT (Bangkok ltd etd) and now its gone up in price by $2000audShow Image(http://www.nomos-glashuette.com/uploads/tx_news/tangomat_GMT_plus_800x578px_01.jpg)

Grand Seikos are something I've yet to see in person but I've heard the craftsmanship is insane, back when I owned a SARB033 I was amazed at how clean it was for a $200 watch.
Thanks! I'm a freak for Nomos, there are quite a few watches from them I want to buy. Right now the mint Tetra with power reserve (I know it's small and a woman's watch but I still want one), Dark Navy Ahoi, and Navy Zurich GMT are my top 3 but there are a few ltd edition Tangentes I want.
For the time being my focus is finding a blue linen dial 1601 or 1603 for my 21st birthday.
Edit: What GMT Master II were you looking at? I personally prefer the vintage GMT Master Is but the new ones are still awesome.
Oh those are all nice especially the Navy Zurich. You've got a damn nice collection and you're not even 21! I think my best watch at your age was a swatch haha.
I'm in line for a Batman GMT Master ii but i don't think i can afford that one anymore after last weeks purchase. I guess it depends how long it's going to take for them to find me one. Last i heard, it was going to be a 1.5 year wait =_="

Damn, that's pretty crazy. Due to the limited availability of the GMT Master IIs is there a lot of dealer mark up?
Btw you can't go wrong with the new GMTs, the ceramic bezels are gorgeous in person. The last time I stopped by a local watch shop to chat about the new Nomos Neomatiks I tried on the WG Pepsi GMT Master II just because I could, sadly they wouldn't open up the FP Journe case for me to take a look. :(
I think Rolex rrp on the batman as well as all SS gmt master ii's are around $10500aud but the dealers have marked it up by about 1k. You won't be able to find one brand new for less than 11.5k
The WG pepsi GMT is stunning! If i had a spare 40k i wouldn't hesitate on getting it. I wish they made it in SS though so it's more affordable for people like me. Affordable lol

Agreed, the WG is cool but totally unnecessary. :))
For Pepsis my favorites are the vintage GMT Master Is that have the magenta cyan faded bezels and chocolate dials, not that those would be any cheaper than a new WG Pepsi...
If you're looking at getting one of those then i would suggest buying fairly soon because they are guaranteed to go up in value in the not to distant future. I think i've seen some for the same price as a new ceramic one.
Black Bay in blue. Not sure how this one fits into my current directive though. May be swap for a blue Pelagos?
@superbia Oh that strap look nice. Interesting features. Is it some sort of resin/plastic material?
Not feeling too much on the new Rolex and Omegas. Datejust 41mm is a bit blasphemous, but does it look great with the blue dial. Sea Dweller has been meh since Deep Sea came out. They definitely should have made it more unique instead of just being the middle brother. Yacht Master got worst. My cousin had the old silver dial one, and that one is excellent. New one looks like cheap toys.
Seiko. I like they're doing more Grand Seiko divers, but man are they ugly and look out of place in the Grand Seiko line. 62MAS reissue is interesting but stupidly made it limited edition.
Oris, I like some of the new colorways for the Aquis or at least I haven't seen it before. Though I think I am gonna hold steady on the tungsten bezel version.
Nomos, I've heard they're really nice watches... but I am one of those weirdos that wear divers everywhere, or the occasional aviators. Club Campus does look a bit more beefy than the gentlemanly watches before. I am on a reversing trend of watch sizes, so may be I'll get one eventually.
Love the wabi on the Squale. However, it always irks me to see missing lume pip on the bezel. Drives me nuts. Rough side out purp leather really give the watch some character. Love it.I had a squale 50 atmos originale opaco but decided to sell it. Ended up getting more than what I paid. I was just a but annoyed with the lume application inconsistency.
Your Nomos is really nice. Love flame blued hands on white dials. Love the almost all dial look.
Out of all the newish Rolex, I still think Air King is the one to get. Most other ones were fine the size they were. New dial options are welcome of course.
Grand Seikos, I honestly don't mind the quartz diver. It is boring and perfectly fit the line, and white dial version looks yummy. (seems to be missing on the Grand Seiko page. Discontinued?) The other divers are all too gaudy. Seems like they only have the spring drive 200 and the new hi-beat 600m divers left. I would have dropped the hi-beat movement in the quartz diver's case. And use the boring dateless dial.
Large holdings company swallowed up too many brands. Richmont group is less bad than the soulless Swatch group, but the brand identities are still dying in Richmont. Luckily Oris have not been caught in that. Speaking of Swiss watches though. Man I am really hating the death of ETA ebauche. ETA movements were cheap to service and replace parts. Now buying Swiss watches is a minefield. You'll never know if you'll be able to source movement parts in a couple of decades (and lets not even think about the cost if you can). Selitas Oris is using is kinda ok, but no where as consistently made as the ETA it is based on. ETA had the manufacturing down to a science.
wow just saw this thread on here , nice watches gents -- I own a sunray yachtmaster I, which I wear daily on a sun tanned leather strap (makes it more casual) -- and currently saving up for a JLC Reverso tribute to 1931, modern twist on the old classic :D

Haha, we have a GS boutique here ;) Played with many (including Credors mmmm!). Since I am not allergic to quartz like manysnobsenthusiasts are, I found the GS quartz to be an absolute steal. Same high quality dial and finishing. I haven't seen something in this price range that has this level of quality.
Was going through the Rolex site earlier, and man Oyster Perpetual 39 in rhodium dial is yummy AF (the blue is good too). Wish it had fluted bezel option.

Quality. My partner has the smaller one, it's real good watch minimalism with a nice inhouse movement.

I love my Wempe Tangente and after a few interactions with Nomos I love the company, at some point I plan to add a few more pieces from them to my collection. I've been eyeing the Tetra Kleene (I really like small watches) but I have a few more things to check off before I circle back to Nomos.
If I'm ever in Europe I plan to visit a few manufacturers, Lange and Nomos included. I don't think I'll ever do it myself but watch design and manufacturing fascinates me, especially some of the design choices FP Journe makes (both movement and aesthetic). Have you ever had the chance to see a Journe in person? I was at a boutique and saw a few Octas through the glass and was blown away. Something like a Chrono Bleu or an mop dial Chronomètre à Résonance are IMO about as pretty as watches get. Watches like the Philippe Dufour Simplicity are also at the top of my list but Journes feel much more accessible.
The AP1 belongs to my dad but I get a ton of seat time during the summer, they aren't fast but are an absolute blast to drive.
You've got some fine taste. I do a lot of work in the watch industry and am very familiar with Journe/Dufour and their ilk. Pictures do them no justice, so I'm glad you had the chance to handle one in the flesh, they are truly special watches.

MoreI own a few watches, but I have always wanted a watch (case, band) made out of tungsten carbide, mostly because I have seen how durable it is with my wedding band (does not scratch).
I was only aware of a few really cheap quartz watches made from it, and one Swiss Legend model.
But in the past few weeks I randomly read about some TC watches from Android Watches USA in FL (now renamed Aragon), which caught my interest.
Anyway, one ebay auction later I am now the proud owner of an Android AD726 Hercules watch. 44mm black dial, luminous indexes/ hands, exhibition caseback, sapphire crystals, SII NH35A movement with date.
Now being made from TC, I knew it would be heavy - but this thing tips the scales at 10.5oz (it is awesome!).Show Image(https://www.aragonwatch.com/v/vspfiles/photos/AD726AK-2T.jpg)Show Image(https://s22.postimg.org/nrneh4t7l/20170704_200046.jpg)

Stay away from it! Watch collecting is addictive and more costly than collecting keyboards and keycaps. lol After GH I started collecting watches and boy, I wish I hadn't left GH. :)
hi gaiz, I got more Seiko divers incoming.
I'll post a recent acquisition meanwhile:
SBDC055, or more commonly known in the west as SPB071. Mine is a JDM version with awesome JDM hang tags :)) Ya, there is no difference.
Love the mixed lume color. Wish Seiko was a little less stingy with the red on this PADI edition, but that wave textured dial is loooovely. 3 words: Domed. Sapphire. Crystal. This is enough to put it on your list of Seiko to buy. Perhaps in another colorway if this is too gaudy. Highly recommend this version for the dial though. It is just a little bit on the too shiny side. It is also very reasonably sized @ 42.5mm diameter and 50mm lug to lug. For divers of oceans instead of desks, the strap is not that long. If you have tree trunks for wrists, you'll want an extender or put it on NATO/zulu. This isn't the hard PU strap, but a nicely satin finish silicone strap. Very pliable and stretchy. Feels better than the silicone from the past few years as well.Stay away from it! Watch collecting is addictive and more costly than collecting keyboards and keycaps. lol After GH I started collecting watches and boy, I wish I hadn't left GH. :)
LAWL. I been collection watches for about a decade. Ya... It definitely is the most expensive hobby I ever took up. Well surpassing my cars, Leicas, tools, etc. These are mostly gone, but watches are just too personal to let go :o
I have tried seiko silicone on some gigantic kinetic diver, and it was uber good.
Recently I wear a non-seiko silicone nato (cheapestnatostraps) on my 7a28, and it's the best non-metal strap I have ever tried.

One of these? or the black and orange version?

The silicone is slightly more pliable and less springy to bounce back to original shape compared to the lume king. The satin texture is also slightly softer. I have a twiggy 17.25cm wrist*. The lume king's strap is just way too long for normal use, and the extra flops a bit after the keeper.
*6.5cm wide, so I could wear larger watches without looking ridiculous.
Most of my watches are on bracelets. I only wear leather when I want to be contrarian or have to be in a monkey suit. Straps... only when I don't have any other choice :))

Who doesn't wear a watch?! :confused:Honestly I feel naked without mine! I went a while where the only one I had had a broken strap and damn Skagen had to be weird and use a non-standard fastening style so I never got it replaced. Probably a year or so with no watch and it felt sooooo awkward. Now I have a new one (we I've had it a few months now) that's also my first automatic (all others were quartz) and its great to just have one on my wrist again.

No. The whole point of a beater is you don't care when it gets dinged or scratched. It has nothing to do with the watch but instead it's all about your OCD level.

New Orient Star for me. 39mm and looks great.
+Sapphire crystal
+Milled folding part of the clasp
+3D looking dial
+Sunburst dial
+power reserve meter
+Date only
+Decorated movement (just go look up Orient Star Classic, the movement is pretty much the same but updated for 50hour reserve. too lazy to dig mine out).
-... there are no minuses.
The SARB035 was the last good budget Seiko IMHO, but now I'd have to say that Orient Star took its place.I too have a few Seiko and Orients, and IMHO the Orient Stars are usually a notch above the Seiko SARB line at least. Their equivalent would be the current Presage line, with the OS being more affordable and having their signature power reserve indicator on almost everything. Also some models have zero equivalent in the Seiko lineup like the Retrograde or the World Timer..
I've seen the Orient Star IRL and it looks much nicer than on photos.
But I'd rather wear a SARB035 (which you could get for $275 brand new just a few years ago).
The SARB035 was the last good budget Seiko IMHO, but now I'd have to say that Orient Star took its place.
My brand preferences:
Diver = Seiko and Orient (OSD! and M-Force)
Dress = Orient
Quartz/Solar = Citizen
Sports = G-Shock
Snob/Luxury = JLC
Honorable mention = Tudor

I know what you mean - I had the same thoughts but tried it on in person and fell in love with it. I have average-to-small wrists (6.75") and I think it wears perfectly. The lug-to-lug is rather long since the lugs are enormous, so if you're someone who typically wears ~36mm watches it will be way too large. But, if you tend to wear 38" I do recommend trying it on if there's an AD around you.

I opted for the latter since I like the gray understated look more. Have to be honest, I'm pretty impressed with the quality of the watch considering how much they cost (or in this case, don't cost). For the price, it has the hybrid movement (ie. quartz with sweeping hands)

I don't know, if we have to stay at home any longer then I might get that Caped Crusader too.
Get one of these to complete your looks. :) )

Very nice watches!
I sport a Datejust 1601,Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/NYg5jIR.jpg)
Although, I have been thinking of selling it to be more minimalistic. But I have had it for some time now, and it is actually a quite okay investment, so I think I'll keep it.
(Also it's a beautiful watch ofc)
Have you also thought about selling, I mean sometimes I can feel it is a bit silly to have an expensive watch, feel a bit "show offy", and pretentious..
I just bought that Undone watch and it was around $300 and some change so no. Just buy whatever you like, wear it and enjoy. That's about it. If "someone else" thinks it's a bit show off then that's just them. I enjoy a Casio as much as a Rolex or Patek.

Nice, the rollie lovers are out I can see! I'm still rocking my Sub no-date since forever. What model/year is this? 14060? 14060M? Mine is a 14060M "two lines", from 2005 I think (I should check the papers). It only has two lines of text instead of four like on yours. Already posted it in another thread here back in the days (I'm not good at taking pictures):
don't watches scratch keyboards?
A bit early for my birthday but there's no-one around to stop me so...

Never thought I'd ask this on a keyboard forum, but for people who wear dress watches to the office, does anyone else have problems having them fit under your shirt cuffs?
Literally all of my dress shirts (Brooks Brothers, and prior to finding an off the shelf brand that fit, custom) never fit anything modern. I could get by with a 1960s Omega, when watches were much slimmer than today. Admittedly with custom, you can get wider cuffs, but I was surprised that standard Brooks Brothers shirts didn't accommodate modern watches.
[Admittedly, I haven't worn dress shirts for most of the year now.]

Just wear an Altiplano. Problem solved.
Certain watch communities will want to put it on a NATO!Just wear an Altiplano. Problem solved.
I think that it's too thin, since it requires ultra thin leather straps :p

I have an old Datejust that I never wear because my wrists are screwed up from years of de quervain's tenosynovitis.
Seeing some of you guys' sexy watches makes me want to take it to a watch shop to get cleaned up before I take a picture of it to post, even though I can't wear it lol.
Time to wake this thread up:

I bought this watch of some internet guy and it's dead nuts on accurate, but even when I wear it all day it seems to die overnight. If I wind it it lasts the normal length of time unworn. What's up with that you guys?

I used the movement and second hand form the old watch and transplanted them into a new housing and face I got from Fleabay. At some point, I might get a second face to cut a larger window and make the day wheel work again, but that will be a project for another day. The trickiest part was trimming down a new stem for the crown. The old one was about 1/2mm too short and the replacements come in at 20mm, which is about 5mm too long.
Originally, there was a white second hand to match the other two, but gravity made it dissapear. Honestly, I think the red adds a little more contrast so I considder that a happy little accident.
Jesus did you 3d print that thing? It's this watch:
Honestly, with a hand puller from amazon, this is not all that hard. Once I realized how to get the stem out (the little magic button) the rest goes together pretty easy. I guess if I was using a more expensive donor, I might have had more second thoughts, but at less than $20, those refurbs from India are a pretty sweet deal. Just takes about a month or so to get here.

Impressive! I don't think I could do that.

The all-metal version of the 5600 is nice, but why on Earth does it need Bluetooth?IIRC on most Casio watches, BT is for automatic time sync.
Yup, plus you can do all sorts of adjustments/settings through the app on the phone instead of having to fiddle with tiny buttons on the phone. :)The all-metal version of the 5600 is nice, but why on Earth does it need Bluetooth?IIRC on most Casio watches, BT is for automatic time sync.

A watch that's seen better days...the strap is new though. I'd thought it was platinum, but it's 'white gold'.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/K0nfKrR.jpg)

I am seriously considering getting a Withings ScanWatch, anyone have one of these? I love that blend of analogue and smart watch, plus I have heart problems and it does ECG readings. That Withings ScanWatch is interesting, I have a heart issue too, MVP - Mitral Valve Prolapse. Seeing a cardiologist twice year for check-ups.
Man, that thing is sexy. I love the back.
That blue croc is killin' me, I think there's some inspiration there
