I take it you don't browse Reddit much? He loves to thoroughly document all the pettiness.

Before I learned about geekhack I was using /r/mk as my main source of information and eye candy. I was in there for at least two years before I even heard about geekhack.
That's also mainly because reddit has so much else to offer though.

To give some insight on how it is for a newcommer, /r/mk is actually a pretty good place to start, but because a lot of people start there it is very generic and the member to member relationship basically is non existing.

It's super easy to jump in and start browsing for hours, but good luck finding a buddy or two.

That's what surprised me about gh the most I think. I've been a member for a little over a year, but an active user for about maybe 6 months. Not entirely sure. I have already made a lot of friends, and had some super awesome experiences here (big kiss to tsd ) (nohomo) and that's something I didn't get from years on /r/mk.

If I were to chose between the two there's no doubt I would stay on geekhack, but I must admit I do enjoy a quick scroll through /r/mk from time to time. I am also still in karma withdrawal. I am in rehab and I haven't posted anything noteworthy for at least a few weeks.
