This... is a curveball. I was leaning towards a design, and then this comes in

I really like that middle badge design.  That would look killer on a board.   :thumb:

I'll say it now just in case people want to update things or whatever - there have been a lot of submission that I would consider text logos, or more easily put, not icon logos. It means a lot are immediately not considered which is unfortunate because some are good if I was looking for text logos.

I don't know why nobody asked, but is there a kind of shape you would prefer to see, or are there details / characteristics you could imagine being part of the logo? Like something that inspired you when doing your designs / building this brand.

Circles, hexagons, and badges (like aarons) are cool. My designs are very purposeful, nothing unnecessary or fancy. The most aesthetical thing are the engravings, but ignoring that it's the weight showing through, which isn't exactly a massive design feature :))

In other news, NX01 is almost finished after another round of revisions. I don't think I can make it any thinner in any dimension with M3 screws. Couple of small peaks:

This makes X60 look thick :))

Really digging the badges, wish I had thought of that! I'd just like to feed in some input; I think using a mirrored capital-"N" would be something to hold onto as a nod to how Xondat came up with "Noxary".

Whilst waiting for production, I took to keysets to make something similar to wodan's GMK ISO-International ESSENTIALS but for the whole keyset. Often keysets are missing some keys when they are going through the IC phase, or even missing some after launching. The idea behind this project was to cover all known keyboards, and also to have a base that someone can work from easily.

Group 1
  • White - Base
  • Pink - Non-Standard
  • Yellow - HHKB
  • Green - 65/75%
  • Blue - 1800
  • Violet - Unusuals
Group 2
  • Orange - ISO Base
  • Green - ISO "International Essentials"
  • Turquiose - ISO Others
  • Blue? - Spacebar Kit

I've split all the keys into 2 groups, and in those groups, further categories relating to layouts. The idea is that you take Group 1 as a baseline, and Group 2 can be an additional kit. Group 1 is self explanatory, whilst Group 2 is mainly wodan's essentials, plus some spacebars.

I'm aware some molds might not exist (such as R3 Pg Up & R4 Pg Dn in GMK), and it changes depending on manufacturer/profile so its just best to put all keys into one big set.

If I got anything wrong, or I'm missing something from Group 1 or the Spacebar Kit, please let me know.

hello, usually lurking but thought this was fun to try.

wish i saw it earlier but here's what I could muster in the short amount of time left.

your stuff seem's very rigid and utilitarian, so I went for something that felt sturdy and reliable.
the angled stroke's are at an 8 degree angle (sideways of course) to help tie back into your board designs.

this one's a bit more abstract, but again, playing with the 8 degree angles.
it's a little looser but everything is consistent so it should fit together seamlessly in a way, mimicking the DIY aspect.

hope you enjoy!

I think I've chosen a winner! Going to work on refining it to a finished, engrave-able logo now.

In other news, big week. Production finally ends for X60, so all parts will make their way over. The X75 sample is also shipping with X60 production parts.

And finally, here is a picture of what I've been working on today:

Updated this a bit. I've removed the icon R1 1u backspace, added some other keys, and created a whole new category (cyan). Colors represent the following groups/categories:
Group 1
  • White - Base
  • Red - Non-Standard/WKL
  • Orange - HHKB
  • Yellow - 1800
  • Green - 65/75%
  • Purple - Unusuals
  • Cyan - Interchangeables
Group 2
  • Pink - ISO Base
  • Blue - ISO "International Essentials"
  • Violet - ISO Alts
  • Gray - Spacebar Kit
The new category, cyan, is meant to show things that can be interchangeable. Keysets could have, for example: FJ Bars + Menu, FJ Scoops + Menu, FJ Bars + Scoops + Menu, etc.

As always, please let me know if I'm missing anything.

I left in a duplicate key in the HHKB group by accident, so I've removed it (it was the ~` key).

If you are using a uniform profile, here is what you need (it's just removing the nav key extensions).

The next update of this, I'll cover kits, but I honestly think they're a terrible idea and will never suit the majority of people.

KITS:

  • White - 60%
  • Red - TKL
  • Orange - Numpad + Extras
  • Yellow - Compatibility (HHKB, WKL, HHKB, 1800)
  • Pale Yellow - Compatibility for non-uniform keysets (65%/75%)
  • Cyan - Alternates, creator decides
  • Light Green - ISO Base
  • Dark Green - ISO "International Essentials"
  • Gray - Spacebars

I haven't forgotten about the logo competition! Should have final mockups coming in in the next few days; just been refining the logo so it looks good at whatever size.

I'll be updating this thread with the new projects & more details for others that are coming up once I get the X60 production & X75 prototype. There will be a couple of extremely limited boards, a new series, and more details on one more.

Stay tuned ;D

Happy 1 year to this thread!

I think now is the best time to reveal who has won the logo competition. I was waiting for some transparent background versions for my website, but now just feels like the best time. Sorry it took so long, but I'm happy to say the outcome is perfect in my eyes.

The winner is cortz! The second mockup he showed really caught me by surprise. It needed changing slightly, but what I envisioned when I first saw his mockup was pretty much what the logo is now.

this one's a bit more abstract, but again, playing with the 8 degree angles.
it's a little looser but everything is consistent so it should fit together seamlessly in a way, mimicking the DIY aspect.

This was his mockup/idea. And here is the finished logo:

I'd like to thank everyone that entered, there were some really solid entries that had seriously considered.

You can see the logo in use on Instagram and later the website, although I'm finishing that off.
