Please, consider adding:
WKL (1.5u, 1u, 1.5u, 7u, 1.5u, 1u, 1.5u)
HHKB (Split backspace, split right shift)
to your base kit. This also covers 65% (physically, with incorrect legends).
Extensions can simply become "correct" legends for those layouts, plus 2u, and 2.25u shift.
It was a tragedy when I bought a few SA / KAT sets, only to buy a WKL keyboard (which GMK sets cover), and realize I can no longer cover with my new set, thus sending me to the aftermarket.
Just nicely done, all around. So nice I'm not even going to ask for Colevrak support.
I was just thinking today that I might be done with SA and then you go and post something like this. RIP wallet.
Dual legends are hard. Multicolor is hard. Dual legends AND multicolor? Damn near impossible.Just nicely done, all around. So nice I'm not even going to ask for Colevrak support.

I'm with you all the way. I love this. But Colevrak is going to be tough for this.

Joined SA Sail, joined Atlas. What's next, join this? :)
Quietly dissappointed with kitting but understandable. I'd like to see more separated kits especially mods but it's likely I will have to take almost all kits here.
That could become my first ever SA set. I really like the color scheme and the "nerd-ness" to use this on a modern keyboard.
But I have a few suggestions:
I think we all agree, that the main goal is, to use the legends from the original punch card keyboard as far as possible.
1. Therefore I would prefer it at lot, if the 2u Backspace key would get the legend "VER CORR"
2. I can understand that a "FEED" key was "invented" for the ANSI layout, because the original keyboard has a ISO enter, but if I had an ANSI keyboard (which I have not), I would prefer the legend "HOME" from the original keyboard - Row 3. Or maybe "BACKSPACE" would even be better (from Row 4 of the original). Together with my my first suggestion it wouldn't result in a double "BACKSPACE" and for HHKB users it would even be the "correct" legend.
3. For the ISO kit (which I would use) I would really really really prefer the legend "HOME" instead of "FEED" - it would then even be in the correct original position. (I understand the reasoning to not have two HOME keys, but that argument isn't valid for all the 60 % keyboards and the 60 % + Numpad (in my case)).
4. In the ISO kit there is an "invented" REG key for Row 4. Since the original keyboard already offers an additional R4 key with the legend "BACKSPACE", I would very much prefer this. Again - together with my suggestion "1." that wouldn't result in a double legend.
I see. Although my priorities might be different in some places, I understand your reasoning.
Concerning the mentioned new R4 alpha key for the ISO kit: I would still prefer a key in modifier color. (Because the key color isn't logical for modern keyboard anyhow and I would consider it more "historically correct" - looking at an data-entry IBM 3276:

The Bauer render persuaded me that this set is perfect for a 65%
Is there any chance of adding an Ergodox kit?
Would have loved an mt3 set..

Just when I thought I was done, they bring me back in. I'm in!
I'm a sucker for dual legends inspired by vintage boards.
I would like it, but it would be cool to have an option that is slightly less authentic. That is, with the normal punctuation keys on the right of the letters. :P. I would buy for sure.
I really love this set. any staggered 40s support avail?
But also, yes, this set is great. Any updates?
Can we get an R3 "0 /" key for the bottom row in the ortho kit to make it work with only 4u tall ortho layouts like the planck?

Staggered 40s support is under consideration; but to be honest, we wanted to see how people would take to this initial set first before considering some of the more niche kits
May consider doing a separate poll though to gauge interest in a staggered 40s kit!

Very cool! SA allows for a little easier 40s coverage I think since the bottom row is same as homerow profile wise. Stop by the 40s discord and we can point you in the right direction if you decide to kit something up
Very nice changes. I think R3 0 could also be part of the modern numpad kit, but I like the inclusion in Ortho a lot.

Updated the Ortho kit with an additional 0 / key in R3 =)
edit: we're thinking of including this in the standalone kit along with some additional keys

I looked over the kits again and I think with the non-standard legends, you could easily piece together a staggered 40s compat set with the extras and space bar kits, and wouldn't even look out of place, really the only thing I'd think would really put it over the top is if you added 1.75u r2 backspace somewhere.
On second thought, if you move the 1.75u "lower shift" key from extension to the base kit, it would be pretty good coverage without needing to buy that whole set for one key.

Can you elaborate? Are you saying there's already physical 40s support in the existing kits and one or two keys just need to be moved around to optimize support?

1.75u shift from Extension kit (outlined red), and 1.25u shift from ISO (magenta) and the split bars (green). Those are the only 3 keys needed. For the size of the kit, I would think it would be nothing to put the shift and the whole ISO kit in the base. Then all we'd have to buy as staggered 40s users would be the split bars.

How many layouts would this cover though and how many more layouts would it cover with a R2 1.75u Backspace?
TBH, I'm not a fan of breaking up the kits like this. I would rather add the needed keys to the Extension kit (1.25u Shift and 1.75u Backspace) and keep the ISO kit as is.

This would cover the most popular staggered 40% layouts, and adding the backspace would allow you to cover Minivan which there's thousands of in the wild.
So in summary you're considering adding the 1.25u shift, 1.75u backspace to the Extension kit? I think that would be OK I guess.

I suppose they could also be added to the Split Spacebars kit if it's only 2 keys. I did something similar with SA SAIL.

You'd need 2 r3 1.5u keys for Minivan support as well if you did that with your current kitting.
Let me just take some time to address staggered 40s support...
Franco and I will investigate what will be needed for a comfortable level of support. TBH however, I am not inclined to offer it due to the downtrend in popularity of SA ever since SA Carbon R2. Recently, we saw SA Sunday Morning's Ortho/40s kit fail to reach MOQ, and my own set, SA SAIL's 40 Extension kit had to be bought out with over 50% of its MOQ coming from vendor extras. This is not a burden I would want to place on vendors moving forward.

I recommend taking a look at SA Skyriter's 40s kit as a reference: it's executed quite well, covering a lot of boards while staying fairly small. For example, it has full support for the most popular staggered 40% layouts when combined with the mods kit, as well as nearly full Minivan support; and it supports ortho boards without needing to buy regular mods. One thing to keep in mind when looking at that kit is that some of the key choices are tied to that set's particular mods kit, but you ought to be able to adapt it to your base kit without too much trouble. As always, I'm available on Discord if you'd like to consult, and I'm sure cijanzen would also be happy to help.
Would you consider a 9u spacebar and an upside-down ISO enter with the legends "ERROR RESET" for an OG kit? That would be sick but I doubt it would meet MOQ
very similar to scientific without the yello accent colour tho
bump because WTB
