Once I get my keyboard how I want it to look, I'll have a go at making one of these. Has anyone made a tutorial? I've got Photoshop

There are a lot of tutorial videos on YouTube.  You should be able to find one for any specific feature or function you want to learn at the moment.

What version of Photoshop do you have?  If you want, I could send you a copy of my signature.psd file with several different keyboard examples.  If you have Photoshop CS5.1 Extended I could send you a version complete with animated LEDs.  The Realforce keyboards have layers for each color and Layer Masks for the Dolch key arrangement paterns.

Uhm I've got CS5 I don't know about it being extended :P but yeah if you could send me some standard template/example .psds that'd be cool.

If anyone is interested i just changed the frost colored deck to an ICE colored deck and took the dark grey HHKB and added RED WSAD keys. The program i used was IFRANVIEW which is a SUPER easy cut n' paste image editing program.

My How to:

Just download ifranview for free, save the model of your keyboard from the wiki to your computer and open it with ifranview. Then click Edit and show the paint dialog. From there, zoom in on the image by clicking the + button and remember how many times you did it for once you are done editing in your colors to the keys the img isn't distorted from it's original size. If you make mistakes click undo. IF you plan on making a sig for your self and would like to put several boards down. Click "Image" then select "create panorama image" then select your saved keyboard pixel art images. If you plan on spacing the keyboards out, the Geekhack signature website background color is "RGB 51:51:51". Just click "Choose" and you'll see the RGB on the custom color selection.

Hope this helps!

Edit: Sorry i was wrong, the background color for the main forums is "RGB 10:10:10" i was going by the signature edit screen. My bad lol.

Edit2: again, wrong color. For some reason i cant get the exact body color from the HTML. Alright i got the body color is #1b1b1b which is RGB "27,27,27" If you look at my sig that's the closest i've gotten the color thus far. If anyone knows the exact RGB that'd be awesome :D

PS. When you go to save your keyboard pixel art image, make sure you SAVE THEM AS A PNG! Using JPEG drops the quality on any images other than photo's. That and geekhack's from computer uploader seems to like PNG the most. So if you are unable to upload your image to your sig, try re-saving it as a PNG.

WASD keyboard with a light blue 37 set and some other keycaps (tacgnol at the numpad enter). Looking okay?

Also made a white one just to see how it'd look with a white case

EDIT: Added in my missing keycaps + clear keycaps from F5-F8, see sig

So, I really hate to ask -- but I've been funded to get a nice mech and plan on using these boards more -- has anyone done a Logitech G15v2 or G9x yet? I checked about ~35 pages and the wiki, but I didn't see one. If not, consider this a request if one of you should get bored. It would be much appreciated.

Was there a program to make these or just editing them in PS/Gimp?

Someone suggested Pixen for the Mac.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
