Scuffed and old IC
« on: Mon, 12 July 2021, 17:07:27 »
Hey there, (Told you its scuffed ima redo it)

Warning I am in the process of making a new post so I wouldn't want to waste your time making you read this bad post. You can wait for a decent post in 1-2 days after I make renders and fix up a lot of things and talk more with the manu.

This is an ic for a switch I (XM Customs or you may know me as xcaruso from discord) have been working on with Durock which is Not A Durock/JWK Recolor*.

This is the first switch I have made with a company which is why it is called XM1. The reason it has ST is that Durock is known for its super smooth stock switches. The t is for “thock” as the polyamide mix and long stem pole should create a nice “thocky” sound that will either be similar to h1 or deeper! You may be wondering why I went for Durock instead of gateron for a deep-sounding switch and the reason is an “ST” switch which means super smooth and as you know Durock is normally smoother than gateron stock. If I release the XM2T it will be probably not as smooth but deeper and with gateron.

Specifications

linear switch

5-pin

Manufactured By Durock

Housing: PC Top Housing, Polyamide mix bottom housing (The same one as H1)

POM Stem

67g spring and possibly a 62g option

*Please note these are not a JWK recolor but a custom switch with custom materials resulting in an extremely high MOQ making this a GB

My good sir, you are drunk.

This entire IC makes no sense. You keep saying “you might be wondering” but in order to wonder about something there needs to be SOMETHING. You have only words and no product, sample or even a render.

Please come back when you’re sober.

And yet you fail to provide any concrete information to the question you propose.

Apparently I might be wondering about your choice of Durock over Gateron. But the only information you provide is “one is smoother than the other but next time I’ll be using the other”. This in itself is so nonsensical that you might as well say that it’s because you always carry a towel with you.

i said that because I said if I do a deeper switch with compromising some of the smoothness and if you read it in detail you notice they are different types of switches.

they are different in the way pure polyamide is much stronger and nylon is made up of polyamide but in a way, the properties are changed because of how it's linked together. So yes it's different in matter of strength.

So this is not JWK / Durock recolor but H1 recolor?

Better yet, the color isn't even finalized.

no it is not. the stem is different entirely the same as a different spring. IF this was a jwk recolor it wouldn't have a moq of 100k.

I believe pa66 nylon (the one used for most switches) is a polyamide. But not all polyamides are nylon - in fact PA66 is just branded as nylon-66 (PA stands for polyamide)

Completely forgot about renders and realized how bad this post was. Never used geekhack before so it looked really bad and wanted to scrap this post and actually spend time making a good one.
