65% leaf-spring keyboard

This is a 65% keyboard that combines the aesthetic of my first design, the Chiwi60 with elements from the 7V. I normally prefer 75% over 65% but I've noticed that my fiance pushes her 7V forward a bit with her Macbook to make space when she wants to use the latter so I thought that a 65% would suit her better.

- What colour options will there be?
I have settled on Blue, Green, Burgundy, Black, and Silver. - What happened to e-white?
The reason why silver was produced rather than white was that the manufacturer forgot to allow for some of the units to be coated and didn't allow for the extra tolerance required during the CNC process.
If there is still a demand for the Venn beyond the in-stock sale, we will consider running a Group Buy afterwards. - Do you have a discord server?

I'll take a pic of a disassembled kit later. You pretty much got it right but the bottom that you see is just a cover plate.
I can't get this to be true screwless because I don't like going any smaller than M3 for case screws.

Wow. Looks good.I'll add a dimensioned drawing once things are finalised. I've already tweaked the bezel thickness for the next proto. It's not that tall though as you can see from the side profile.

please consider WKL blockerI'm personally not a fan of wkl blocker on a 65% and it doubles the SKUs for the group buy. The only layouts which I'd consider providing wkl blockers for are 60% and tkl.
so this is leaf spring gasket like 7v, or traditional topmount with leaf spring?It's sandwich leafspring. With how much contact there is, I don't think I needed the shims that the 7V had.
The reason why I went for plate leafspring rather than on the pcb is because it is easier to iterate and adjust the amount of flex. One downside though is that you can't go completely plateless like you could on the 7V.

Joke aside, what a great design! You've done it again, Gok! The non-invasive angled edges on the top case to reduce the chance of hitting your thumbs on them when aggressively pressing spacebar is great! The rounded corners creates an unique look with the edges when light shine on it. Then the gap between the weight and the case is the cherry on top. Not to mention the area around the usb port, the curves of the weight "highlights" the function of the port and "guides" you to it. Man I love your design language!
Also, if this board comes in navy blue I'm 100% in.

I would love an anodized bottom weight. Hoping for an unlimited GB cause I absolutely love this!I don't think I will provide this. I have a clear idea of what I want to do with the weight and I don't want to assign any SKUs to an aluminium option.
Venn will provide half plate ?Possibly. The reason why I'd consider this over more plate material options is that I'd want to get leaf-spring mounting design to a point that I'm happy with but also allow the option for more flex in the alphas.
This would look so good in navy with that multi color weightThe same navy blue that I picked for the 7V is likely to be an option for the Venn.

The idea is to have a really flexible material so that the alphas can be bouncier without going half-plate. The plate has a lot of mounting points which would usually over-stiffen the plate but the leaf-springs offset this. For the revised plate, I went with more but longer leaf-springs to make the typing feel more consistent.

Awesome, that's interesting. I will try POM plate, which would be new to me.
BTW, this is a question regarding the pcb: does it support usb-c to usb-c connection? It's a minor feature, but I want to ask for good measure.

Will there be an ISO plate available too?I need to think about this. With the plate being so flexible, I don't want to have a universal cutout that supports both ansi and ISO on the same plate and I'm not sure if I want to double the number of sku's. At the very least, I would post the plate file so you could get your own made.

Which one do you think provides the best typing experience with the leaf spring mounting? I personally never own a leaf spring mounted board, so I am a bit curious.Alu, POM and polycarbonate. I will likely go with POM. The idea is to have a really flexible material so that the alphas can be bouncier without going half-plate. The plate has a lot of mounting points which would usually over-stiffen the plate but the leaf-springs offset this. For the revised plate, I went with more but longer leaf-springs to make the typing feel more consistent.

Just a bit sad that the best angle is not the one you get to see during use.
Personally a bit torn on the current 2 color offerings, light silver is not my cup of tea.
Olive is a very nice shade, but probably a bit limiting for which keycaps would work well with.
Looking forward to the potential Burgundy, or a more neutral color. I would have really liked to see a dark grey, I believe would look incredible with the rose gold weight (can't go wrong with black, but I don't often see Dark Grey (something like Apple's Space Grey)).
Hoping the Rose Gold PVD stays as it looks fantastic.
(Kinda secretely hoping this GB isn't too soon, as Q1 is very loaded already)

Hotswap is not offered usually on Gok boards. Learn to sold millmax its very easy.

Is there a possibility of a black color? Silver doesn't fit with some keysets sometimes, and it would be nice to have a color neutral option. how much do the brass and ss accent cost compared with aluminum accent? brass accent with brass weight would be dopePricing TBD but it's usually quite a bit more expensive for non-plate parts.

I'm 110% interested in this Mr.Gok and also i really really want a 7v, i just got into this hobby 6 months ago and sadly i didnt know about group buys when you were offering the 7v for the group buy and thats my dream keyboard, do you know if there will be anymore group buys for the 7v or anyway i can get one at the msrp you offered them? You best bet would be to wait for extras after the GB units ship in late April. Depending on where you live, the vendors that hosted GB of 7V will have some extras that you can buy at a slightly higher price than GB price.
Keep in mind that Gok only designs the boards, but he doesn't handle sales and manufacturing directly. Other than that, I am afraid you would have to explore r/MechMarket for the 7V. There will always be for-profit flippers for expensive stuff, but as unfortunate as that is, it is the high demand created by new people in this hobby that caused that.
I can relate to you because I was once a newbie and I was really excited about every custom keyboard I've ever seen. But, I think you should seriously consider your interested about custom mechanical keyboards before trying to spend money on something you don't understand. If you really like boards such as the 7V, I bet you'll be willing to wait for other similar boards like it, or even for a potential round 2 of 7V. So please be patient, and please be smart. I'm actually really very interested in this keyboard simply because of the layout and the PCB, cause I've been looking for one like this for at least 2 years AHAHA. That aside the aesthetics is really beautiful. But just wondering if it is okay to basically take them apart to mod creating a custom. I intend to buy one for my brother but his love for RGB is just out of this world. So is it possible to add LEDs per key and/or underglow(Soldering it myself is fine), and adding the hot-swap sockets for him as well. That's just my questions for customizing the board. Lastly, is it possible to use the HHKB layout for the majority of the board but I want the extra buttons at the bottom(i.e. the additional Windows/Fn. Have you considered to make it so your *w* face will be engraved in the bottom weight? I think it would make the bottom weight a little more interesting rather than just being plain metal, similar to how the 7v has it's logo on the weight aswell.
Would be a cool way to make it almost your brand identity/logo too!

ISO enter stabiliser cutouts are in the file. Maybe they are on a different layer.
