But but but... The classic win95 keys in your render are pad print!

Haha I knew someone was going to say that. I could go with Windows Vista or Windows 8 if you'd prefer -________-

Pad print is evil.

I hate the diamond symbol, but I would like something like "Code".

Is it possible to add in 1x 1u Ctrl and 1x 1u Alt to accommodate the growing popularity of 65% and 75% boards?

This is very important. It's also great for compatibility with modern 1800, which has:
1u 1u 1u 6u 1u 1u 1u 1u

Photekq, please. You do not need to worry about this. Win95 is staying. I won't be changing that.

Blah. I do not like code nor do I like super. This would also completely take away from the OG look.

The icon mods are really nice.

You can really understand how pleasant they are when there's a clean and nice keyboard in front of you.

Thanks dude, hope to see you participate!  :thumb:

Please use L9 than CP for a more classic look. I myself have a GMK blue on beige set, and the colour is too white for me, whiter than most of the OG cherry keyboards. Makes me want to sell it from time to time.

I second this I think, L9 is a nicer base for Alphas

Do the stabs work with any Cherry compatible PCB or are they only functional with vintage cherry boards?

They are PCB mounted with the addition of the screw. So as far as I know they will work with any PCB that allows cherry pcb mounted stabs.

i.e. your stabs will not pop out any more because of the screw.

I've been using screw-in stabilizers for my high end build space bars for a while now and love the result. The huge space bar stabilizers really benefit from the little extra stability.

Can recommend!

Can you give us an idea of how much the screw stabs will be per set? If prices are not too much I want to pick up a few sets for future builds!

With all of the customs keys we see with gmk sets, it may be worth it to see what the extra cost would be for them to do win95 double shot. I agree it looks the greatest, but pad print is less desirable :(

I thought the design was too detailed or something, which is why they pad printed it.

Haven't gotten any pricing yet from Christoph. You know how it goes with GMK...

Good point. I will see if there is anything that can do about this. I will say though, this key looks pretty damn good on the U9 (beige) keys.

Please don't forget about the support for 1800 layout. This can be obtained by adding:
6 u spacebar
2 1u ctrl
2 1u alt
The price for all these additional keys? Only $4. No more than that.
I don't know if the R5 has some real love here... personally I don't need it at all, I would prefer compatibility with some additional layouts.

Please don't use the pad printed windows keys.  The OG ones are pretty, but the result of gmk ones is awful. Take a look at the windows keys in retro GB by Xiaodian. They are center aligned and a little blur.

In regards to modern 1800, I will not be adding those keys. I feel as if that layout is never used. I understand that it is not very much money, but money is money and I'd rather have the R5.

In regards to the windows logo choosing. Ghostjuggernaut brought up a very good point, I will ask Christoph about a double-shot version of this key. In regards to what Nick said...we may not be able to get a double-shot version of this because of the detail that is involved in the key cap. If it is the case that we cannot get a double-shot version and everyone does not want Win95, I will try and work something out with GMK and you guys (in the thread). Maybe I will need to run another vote for these...but I am keen on using win95 as it is right now and seems like the overwhelming majority wants it too.

So far, you guys voted for no blanks and to change the alpha base color to L9. I truly think this is the right move.

Still waiting on pricing and moq - for both products. Leandre is a homie and linked pictures in the thread of the GMK screw-in stabs. Please check them out as they show that they are compatible with newer PCBs (i.e. not just Cherry keyboards).

Please include an optional euro-kit!

I was hoping someone would bring back olovetti. I like the warm gray with the soft blue so much!
I already have the tai-hao clone but I don't really want to use it because it is very thin abs and overall the grays are too dark. I tried again to come close to the olivetti "theme" with the EnjoyPBT set with blue dyesubs - I like it, it's quite good.

Now I really hope you consider an optional euro kit. That would make the set appealing to a wider audience and might be your key to unlock the 150.

So I'm in with euro / ISO-DE compatibility.

Btw: A german-only GMK-DOLCH GB was just yesterday confirmed to be successful (I'm in). Only german ISO, no euro compatibility. So that should be a strong indicator for you, that a euro set would be worth the effort, right?

If you would decide to go for a euro option, you would most definitely find someone who would handle the european orders, so the wouldn't have to be exported just to get imported right after.

The ISO essentials would be cool :)
Can you guys explain what you mean by ISO essentials? We here live in Merica. There is a wall blocking me as I try to think of the cap.

----------------------------------

Too bad that you're offering R5 instead of 1800... There's a full thread about it, and the 1800 beige kit was sold out very fast.

Will you actually be joining?

Also, I love r5!

Not sure that I'll join without g80-1800 support...

exactly! and YES, that's the guy I had in mind ;)

I'll give you some examples. take a look at this set from massdrop. among others it has a UK-kit and a nordic-kit. you already have the UK-kit as part of the main kit, so the addition of the nord-kit would make it interesting for many europeans:
154598-0154600-1

here is another example from massdrop:
154602-2

another example from a drop by keyclack (btw i joined this and it's still open):
154604-3154606-4
this one is not just "nordic" but "international" - this would cover all european countries plus all spanish an portuguese speaking counties. so that would include mexico, central-america as well as the whole south-american continent, right? with portuguese you could not only reach to brazil but also to angola - OK, I think I'm drifting away with this.

for me as german, a norde kit would do it. I believe, the nord kit would include the countries of europe, that are financially stronger - so higher chance they actually buy a GMK kit at all.

would be interesting to get some visitor-statistics from geekhack. this way we could easily see from which countries the geekhack users are.

damn I hate the whole UI and UX of this page. I'm really struggeling to attach the pics to this post :(  - GOT IT!

Make French AZERTY ISO happen, we deserve this by now...

Would be great if you really match the real OG olivetti, both the font and the keys!

The thing is there actually is G80-1800 support, so I guess I am unsure why you keep saying this. R4 1800 support and R5 1800 are supported with either 6.25u and 7u 1800. Ya sorry 6u 1800 will not be happening.

So do you think U9 is too light? Judging by the alpha base color, L9 is the correct color right?

Is this something people will want?

well, since most of the potential buyers are from the us: probably NO.
BUT, it would be an addon set so people from the US / ANSI-users just don't add it therefor won't have to pay more.
AND, YES - people from the EU would want it, they want ISO! you can read it in nearly every IC for a GMK set, where you can read something like "ISO please" - and not only the brits. I just think you would make this set appealing to more people, which translates to a higher possibility in reaching the 150. I think addon sets only have a MOQ of 50.

I really hope you can be convinced. I'm sure there will be a person from germany who would handle all the european orders, happened with other GBs already.
