if you have a keycap set without WKL kit when you got a WKL keyboard, your whole set is useless.

in terms of ISO users you can adapt, because there's no ISO-Only custom keyboard if I remember correctly.

I feel like this discussion is starting to derail. But seriously, do you understand how US centric your post is?

Here in Sweden and Nordic Europe there's no WKL board to be found for sale, and ANSI keyboards usually cost double the price of the corresponding ISO variant.

Hence I appreciate when ANSI users show some solidarity and pay $5 (for some keys you can sell, I've bought ISO keys from US users for $10+/set a few times), just as standard bottom row users usually are fine with paying for WKL keys.

Based on the feedbacks, added a very basic Dolch Base sets to the IC.

i'm not sure but I think the control keys on row 4 in base set should be "ctrl" instead of "control" but I guess this just a temporary mockup.

about ISO issue, it always happen to keyset group buy.

In terms of the GB/IC leaders opinion, they need to make it cheapest for ANSI users as they're the majority users.
 
GB leaders always tried to reduce everything that majority users didn't need, and ISO keys is one of those thing.

ISO users(Minority ) - Why you guys can't pay a little bit more for us.

ANSI users(Majority) - Why do we have to pay for something that we never use.

if ISO users are 20% of group buy, 120 people have to pay at least $5 for the keys that they never use.

that's how you waste $600 for the useless keycaps.

but when you're talking about Winkeyless kit, everyone have a chance to use it.

everyone have a chance to get a Winkeyless keyboard, might be not now but in the future... no one know.

but there's no way that ANSI users gonna have any chance to use ISO keys.

IMO in budged sets one should remove the least used keys first, no? Based on actual numbers, instead of your opinions, one can argue that WKL is used less than ISO. So if ISO is to be removed, then WKL should be long gone as well. Even if WKL and ISO would have about the same popularity, ISO is cheaper to add than WKL and should thus be introduced first, no?

Anyway, sorry for derailing this topic. I just don't like when people talk about numbers and percentages and mix them with personal beliefs.

It non-trivial to me either  if it was a complete keycap set, but when It became a separate kits as you see in this thread. ISO kit should be a separate kit like other kits as well.

Here in Japanese there's no ISO or ANSI needed, we need you to make it cover to Japanese layout as well, thank you.

The kit only needs a 1U backspace to support JIS layout as well as any GMK set can without new spacebar molds. Good suggestion! 

If you wish to separate ISO, you should also separate WKL and possibly some other keys as well. With the MOQ and setup costs, the kit price would be higher by ridiculous amounts than when it's included in a larger kit. You buying base + WKL would cost more than a combined set of WKL + ISO + base. Also the WKL would not tip anyway.  )

One great idea would be to separate ANSI as well, so that we don't need to buy that many useless keys. That way no one would have to pay for keys they don't use, and everyone would pay more to GMK.

I have made some quick adjustment to the Base and the Add On Kits, I hope this will cover most of the popular key caps set by now.

What''s your guys opinion on the 1.75u Shift and 1u FN in the Add On Kits, IMO maybe there are some demands on it if their Dolch is harvest from OLD Dolch key caps and wanted a new one, but if those who bought Ivan's or maybe this ICON Dolch, it will be redundant.

Question: the Dolch base kit you added as already "4 WIN key with ICON on it", then what icons are actually on the R4 of your proposed Addon kit?
Those 4-diamond shaped icons seem to be newly invented to me.

If those are not meant to be Windows icons, there are more traditional icons and text you can consider, such as:
'Super', 'Hyper', 'Meta', 'Alt Gr'
And the meta key icons (from Sun keyboard and Apple keyboard)





Also, there is one more detail to consider: there is the shortage of GMK keyset with a real R5 profile in recent years. R5 key profiles are for the modifiers at the space bar row (but not for the space bar itself). Most sets have only R4-R4 setting at their 2 lowest rows. Two examples that have R5 keys are the GMK WoB at Originative and GMK Triumph Adler.

Now I see. That is your own new windows-key design. Throwing out new ideas is always good. I am just a bit conservative towards a more old-practice-inclined set like Dolch. For things like Deep-space set, I am pretty much open to most of the new ideas.

As a reference, the latest GMK Windows-key design matches Windows 10's logo.

However, it is difficult to say or judge if a newly invented novelty icon will be "widely accepted".

On the other hand, I have to say I like the Windows 10 icon design adopted in the recent GMK keysets, such as the GMK Hyperfuse set, and the GMK Skeletor set that I posted above. It is a neat design with a minimalistic and modern look. And I don't need any introduction to understand that is the Windows key.
Instead, I do appreciate a few extra key caps for the Meta keys, like those in older Unix keyboards in SUN or Apple computers.

i prefer to X-CMWY and look forward to this Mod
i know that all the pure colors for RGB and CMY are here now and complete, it is pretty challenging to choose another pure color to stand out in this Mod
first , V2 and BR1 even P3 are good choices, however the DY1 is much better in this mock up. My worry for DY1 is that this color has emerged in many Mod such as Purple Mod.
Any how , you have enough time to choose a much better color for winkey besides RO1. waiting for you progress ,Merry christmas.

On ISO compatibility:


There are many options to give ISO compatibilty to an ANSI US set. The XT layout is the easiest and cheapest one. It only requires four keys on top of the ANSI US layout:

This layout is not new, nor something just made up, it was extensively used in the eighties in keyboards for most XT IBM compatible computers. It allows the use of an ISO Enter in ANSI US layouts with no redundant legends. This is a very effective and cost efficient way to offer basic ISO compatibility to an ANSI US based set.


The second less demanding ISO compatibility option for an US set is implementing an UK layout. This requires five extra keys, over the XT layout:

Any other ISO based Language requires many more extra keys. This may be better acomplished with an International set.


The two ISO alpha keys that you included in this base set, along with the ISO modifiers, belong to the German ISO layout. They have redundant legends with the US standard. The XT keys that I suggest may be a better fit for that small ISO compatibility pack. The German ISO requires more than twenty extra keys, so including a couple of them does not accomplish it. I really do not understand why some recent GMK sets have included them. They may only serve as placeholders.
