Pad printed caps will have me nope right out of the base kit, unfortunately. Please give us a non-windowed centered caps at a minimum.

I'm indifferent, but perhaps maybe a windowed kit?

Hi all,

GMK has informed me that all LED windowed caps are pad printed.

For this set, I've decided to exclude PAD printed caps, so we'll roll with regular caps.

We will have Modern Windows Keys, as well as Super.

Thanks! :D hope to get this moving soon.

But you were going to do Win95 logos, which also are pad-printed. :(

In any case, it really makes no big difference to me. I really like the look of this anyway so will definitely try and join.

NOOOOOO I NEEDED THOSE WINDOWED INDICATOR CAPS :(

Is it too much to ask if we can have both?

Glad to see pad printing has been ditched.

If people really need windowed caps I would personally still choose windowed blanks over pad printed =)

What do you have against pad printed caps that won't be used often?  Caps Lock and Scroll Lock--do you intend to use them so much that they will wear out?  Those are rarely pressed.  My WEY HK2000 has lots of pad-printed caps which are well shiny, and pad printing still looks great on them.

Pad printed caps just look terrible imo, even fresh so no wear required.
Mixing with pad printed makes the hole set feel compromised and less premium to me.

So I'd rather go blanks then go for the compromised mix of print styles.

You all are insane. GMK pad printing is awesome. Pad-printing custom legends on windowed caps are ugly, but for the many other legends they've pad-printed GMK makes them look great.

I agree, it looks very good.  I wonder if those who think it doesn't have actually seen them in person.  Anyway, my personal vote is always in favor of pad-printed but windowed indicator caps.

I know Ivan's Dolch set did Num and then a down arrow underneath. Not sure if other sets did that.

Im mostly referring to pad printed sublegends as seen on TA Royal Alpha for example, which indeed look like stickers.

I've seen better cases, but enough bad ones to outweight the picture.

Base color is a Muted grey set. The addon of 9009 3a and 3c made it perceived as 9009 but are not. It's just a pink and green addon.

Have you considered alternate light gray F5-F8?  And just curious why"9009" gets pink insert but the other color kit doesn't get a corresponding key? I might use it on a 96key layout.

Woops. We'll change the alternative light Gray f5-f8.

for the insert key, I don't think it's necessary, but we'll offer it to match the kits :P

Aren't the f1-f4 and f9-f12 supposed to be the light gray ones (and the f5-f8 remain dark)?

Also, is there any chance that we can get the esc/enter/space accent keys in four separate kits of each color? For example, instead of the blue/purple kit, we get one kit with all blue esc/enter/space keys and one kit with all purple esc/enter/space keys.

And row 5 mods, we need row 5!

Oh no! Caught some mistakes. Was too hyped.

Here are my adjustments for the set from the render:

1. Remove block X backspace for R1 1U
2. Change the menu icons to "Menu" Word.
3. Change F5-F8 to lighter grey.
4. Add cyan insert
5. Add 6U to both spacebars kits.

Other than that, I've read the comments about the pink spacebar, but I think the MoQ pricing might turn people off to offer both of them, and then struggle to meet MoQ if we offer 3 kits or so with the color variations. We can offer it in a future round :). My thinking is this: if 1 kit offers 6 spacebars, it might deter people. But if we offer them separately (basically 4 child kits), each kit will struggle to meet MoQs.

I hope you can all agree with me here. But I'm just going to keep it as us, and offer 6U spacebars with every base kit.

Have you considered alternate light gray F5-F8?  And just curious why"9009" gets pink insert but the other color kit doesn't get a corresponding key? I might use it on a 96key layout.

And row 5 mods, we need row 5!

For the esc/enter/space etc, that's a little insane to put into the base kit. We'll basically have at least 16 spacebars in a kit. The goal of the this build is to have two accents off of gray, which is what I think would help push this set. Having 4 child kits would be bonkers, read my above statement.

As far as row 5 goes. I've considered it, and the number of people who would prefer row 4 with the pricing outweigh getting the extra row 5 for the extra money. I'm counting 23 R4 keys in the base kit, and that would put in an extra delta of at least $15.00. A big argument can be made that we should just include a wider international kit compatibility with this extra cost, but then we have ANSI users making a fit about the extra cost for keys they'll never use. :-[

Now don't get me wrong. I'm all about giving people the keys they want, but we have to compromise and I think this is a good middle ground. Hope I didn't sound stern! :)

Have a good day! :D

That's too bad, especially about the r5 mods, but it's understandable. However, what do you think about having the f1-f4 and f9-f12 keys be the lighter gray instead of the f5-f8 keys, since that's how it was on the original cherry keycaps?

7. Arrow 1.5U backspace, not block X arrow.

Was the 1.5u backspace still getting changed to the arrow?

I thought about it, but some people use the 1.5U as the backarrow on some layouts, and having the block X arrow differential makes all the difference.

1.5U will be arrow, 1U will be arrow.

Please make Function keys like the classic Cherry keycaps:
F1-F4, F9-F12 light gray (alpha colors)
F5-F8 Darker gray (mods colors)

Please don't make the colors backwards, that's a deal breaker!  :(

To be fair, most people that care about row 5 uses WKL setups, if you were to go that route it would only be an additional 13 keys. (see e.g. Blue Alert)

I agree with later suggestions to make f5-8 dark and the rest light, in contrast to my late night initial thought.

Oh man that render looks amazing.

Might be a bit to ask, but I'd love to see the purple and green enter, ESC, and insert keys as well.

Muted for now. Name change, TBD or TBA?

lol See? I wasn't the only one who wanted the F-row with proper swapping colors!

I never realized Carbon didn't have that; what an odd choice.

probly why you see a lot of ppl using the novelties on the f-row for an orange stripe

For the F row, we'll go with the following, which I personally prefer now. Hyped to get this set on a TKL ;)

Quote
F1-F4, F9-F12 light gray (alpha colors)
F5-F8 Darker gray (mods colors)
