Unfortunately I'm shorting my keyboard with some of the Zeal stabs. I identified the two offenders and tried masking the area with tape, but it's still happening. Does anyone have tips or photos how they overcame this? Also, is anyone interested in trading a Viper SS plate for my aluminum one?

Zeal recommended using pieces of plastic baggies.

I personally used some clear tape with a hole punched in the middle to allow the screws to go through.

I found there are several screw holes in the center of bottom housing that are not used when assembling.

Also, the PCB/Plate are fixed on the top case. So there are some space between the PCB and the bottom housing.


So I'm wondering if there is any weight-insert or adds-on for the viper since it seems that some space are reserved?

EDIT: All diffusers were shipped out today.  Tracking numbers should update in the next 24 hours or so.

I got my (nicely packed) diffuser today. I should probably have ordered another one.

Does anyone know what each LED embedded into the top case corresponds to?

I'm assuming they're capslock, scoll lock, and numlock but what are the others?

Also, am I correct in guessing that the flat side of the blob on the PCB denotes the negative leg of the LED?

1-4 or the right are layer indicators. The last one is CTRL mode, I think...

A single plate with basic finishing shipped to Seattle, WA will cost me $122.31. It will be cheaper via lasergist, but they are way too slow and I'm excited, and I emailed lasergist a few days ago and still haven't received a reply.

If I up it to 5 units it will be roughly $59 + shipping per person. Except me of course =P.

Backslash/tilde are there. This is how my Black Bird with HHKB backspace and shift looks like:


Just choose the correct location from the fullsize image under it and it should work.

thanks, i'm starting to figure out how to use this darned thing. now i'm having trouble applying keys to the right alt and right gui. they only come up as , on the integrated key tester

For my pcb, it requires a lot of force for the holtites to go all the way down and stick into the pcb (not sure if that's normal?) I did use a thin metal stick to put on top of the holtites and use my thumb to push it doww, thats why it hurts so much

Also, there is 1 switch hold that got cut through for different layout, you only can able to insert 1 holtite on the right side.... located at enter's switch. Not sure if 1 holtite is able to hold the switch from coming out of the pcb while changing keycaps
