Sushi menu desk mat GB now live.

We had a warm response from some people regarding my wifes design for a desk mat. We had talked about doing something creative together for the keyboard community for a while, we are both avid clackers. So we have setup this interest check to see if this is something we could make reality.

My wife is a professional illustrator so I think her designs have a special flair. Everything she does is original and fresh. We want to start small so we thought a desk mat design would be best. In future we hope expand into other products.

With regards to the Japanese on the desk mat, we have been thinking about how we might be able to add a small card with the product, like the inlay you get with a box of chocolates. This would translate the name of the Sushi along with a little description of what the ingredients are. We have been talking to producers about if this is possible. It might raise the cost of the product by 0.50-1.00USD. Alternative is we will consider redesigning with both English and Japanese. This has been done already but we are not 100% happy with how it looks currently.

I like it with japanese legends, and the small chocolate-box-like card sounds like a great idea!

This is a fantastic design.

If the background is dark and the text remains Japanese then I will absolutely buy this.
...maybe even buy multiple.

I appreciate that the mat has some real nigiris on there. Akagai, kohada, shako? Yeah I am in. This will be my office deskmat.

My wife and I are very fond of Sushi but she especially has a lot of respect for the art. A family friend of ours is a 3rd generation Itamae. He approved also. :)

It is a design I made myself. Extra keys are just for whatever I want, media, layers. Not produced yet, but I am going to CNC one for myself next weekend.

Huh interesting. not seen a keyboard that has that layout so I'll be looking forward to the finished image of it

This is cute, I'm a fan of sushi especially Ikura and Otoro, but personally, I think the deskmat is a little too crowded, maybe reduce the amount of sushi down a little? give them some space in between.

Thanks for the feedback, ill talk to Tana about it. Maybe we can do an alternate version depending on what happens with talks with vendors/proxies and how many color variations we end up on. Ill tag you if something happens along your idea.

Vendor news update.

We have secured some vendors for the GB, we are still in talks with more vendors for AU/EU/UK and will update on that here when that is all final. GB dates to be announce soon also.
