Been awhile since I seen a 65 without any blockers.
Really interesting choices with the mounting options. Also like the brass? Spacer separator thing.

Right now, we have only made it with our fixed layout. I have intentions to offer more layouts at some point. Note that the plate right now in the prototype doesn't have stepped caps, but we will support it.
If you've got a layout in mind, link it, we'll see what we can do in the future.
looks really great! good job guys!
seems like a compilation of all the innovations in this community, which is awesome.

It's an insert (it's called an accent). Example: https://imgur.com/a/cOlUTqk
We want to offer a range of colours so you can mix and match to your keysets. It's not connected to your plate.
In stock 100 public units... so we have around what, 8-11 seconds to purchase one? :pBuahaha, I feel the very same. I'm loving this board, just unsure if it's actually possible to get in on it :(
Beautiful board with interesting features. Love it. I'm sure I won't get one fast enough yet again.
Finally a 65% layout that isn't messed up by blockers. Well done. Looking forward to this one :)

Are any of the brass inserts going to be coated or will they all be raw?
Just to clarify...this won’t be stocked regularly right after that 100 unit for another round or something like a tofu? It’s just those units will be already made and ship shortly?
I remembered filling out the friends and family form before. How would we know if we made it on that list?
Love the innovation. I am enjoying my EXT65 at the moment while waiting for this.
As a Mac user, I just want to say thank you for the 1.25 x 3 bottom row. Phew.
So far, consensus tend to indicate that both "O-Ring Gasket Mount" and "Gasketed Sandwich Mount" allow for a softer and more stable typing feel, to the point that they sometimes all fall under the "gasket" bracket.
Since you offer both choices here, I assume you believe these 2 methods lead to significant-enough results, typing feel and/or sound? Can you elaborate a bit here?
Really good idea on this, and probably some clever internals to make it work. I'll have to see about price and front height before joining.
hey aeryxz,
what purpose does the brass mid piece serve? is it a weight like 1/65 or a plate like kyuu? just curios how it is integrated.

Definitely loving the possible combos and options. A hotswap pcb would turn it truly into jack of all trades board. Do you know if the board will be mill-max compatible?

Hey Aeryxz, sorry if my question is a bit bold. Can the happy backers of the Ægis or Ext65 hope to be part of the early access ? ;D

Great question! I've actually using a type of holtites/millmax in my prototype and I do not recommend it. Due to the flex and gasket styles, you may find that some variations might cause your board to short as the holtites/millmax add extra height the bottom of the pcb. I am still using it, but I have taped the bottom of my PCB to stop the shorting. To iterate once again, I DO NOT recommend using holtites, but it is possible.

Hmm. Yeah. I could def see that. I wonder if you could get around this with the newer modern integrated hotswaps, which have a plastic housing on the bottom. Clearly that'd mean offering two different PCBs or only the hotswap as an option, which I'm sure some wouldn't appreciate. Not saying you should do any of this, just that I'd love to see someone solve the flex hotswap dilemma.

Man. That is the dream! I really support this concept. Revolutionary imo. Most boards are one and done, you grow by buying new boards and selling/shelving old ones. Would be cool to see any ecosystem grow around this one (assuming additional hardware doesn't follow Apple dongle pricing, lol). Sure you can desolder and change caps or switches, but hardware changing the whole feel of the board, count me in! Am hoping that I luck out and get in on this, great work!Quote from: aeryxz link=topic=104338.msg2857305#msg2857305

If there's a big market for it, since it's mostly fixed layout, it is possible to make a hotswap board. Right now, since there's already many options like accent pieces, plate types, gaskets etc - having too many options might cause decision paralysis and makes logistics a bit harder for us. If the CONSTELLATION proves to be successful and popular, we will support it with addition bits and pieces in the future. I want to create a sustainable ecosystem for this board so that you can buy parts from us and do some customisation and never feel like you can't get new gaskets or pieces for the board once it's done.
this is going to be like the gskt 00. Complete success. I really want one (REALLY I WANT ONE), but it's so limited i am not going to get one probably, and after the sale people will flip them for 3 times the price.
The limited runs it's the only thing that i hate about the community.
Beautiful board, looks super nice :)

Nah. the Gskt 00 is a budget keyboard. This won't be as crazy since the price point--deservedly--is going to be much higher.

I mean to be fair $450-$550 isn't that much higher than the gskt-00 (which came out to about $350 with bells and whistles)
Eh, you'd be shocked how fast community is growing, with people willing to flash that cash. I have no doubt that this will sell well. Just saying that it won't be like GSTK.
With all those mounting methods, this a no brainer. Must-buy.Haha. I was thinking the same thing. But I think it's just the angle and the super dark keycaps. I'd love to see some rendors or a prototype in some lighter caps.
Only thing that I think should be worked out is bottom row.
One question: the spacing between keys is normal spacing? Must just be my eyes, but the pics make it seems slightly different.

Can you explain/provide pics on how you can "choose" to only use one mounting solution per side on a single plate?
Like, if you use an O-ring, won't the top mount and gasket tabs be free to rub against the case?
All great information. Especially that diagram. And thanks for the Instagram reminder. Normal spacing. The "artsy"-ness of the photos might be giving you that illusion. We try to never show renders because I believe that it can be misleading on what the final product will be like, whereas prototypes tend to be much closer - but this limits the options of "showing off" the board. I do have some more pictures on my personal instagram, and I should post more actually (thanks for reminding) - username is aeryxz. My prototype is rose gold and I have jamon on it, previously I had SA olivia. This looks incredible, would love to see cyan as an accent option, would look so good with the upcoming Atlantis keyset.

Looking at our previous boards, not many have been flipped/shown on the aftermarket - meaning that people who have bought our boards have enjoyed them enough to keep in their collection. This to me is the value perception of what we do - not the after market price. If things run successfully, I will definitely be interested in manufacturing and selling more boards, with more options. We have even more ideas but have to be realistic on what we can achieve and in what timeframes, but we are only 3 people with small amount of capital, living in an expensive country. We also have other projects in the works, mostly collabs, and will reveal more "news" on that when we are ready.this is going to be like the gskt 00. Complete success. I really want one (REALLY I WANT ONE), but it's so limited i am not going to get one probably, and after the sale people will flip them for 3 times the price.

Is it a bit unfair to compare prices at this point - I wanted to give a ball park figure so people could have an idea. We have still yet to finalise the packaging options, and extras - so that pricepoint is purely for a base kit, which should provide everything for a fantastic baseline experience. Any extras is a nice to have and entirely up to you :) There's a bit more bits and pieces going on with this board, for example our custom rubber feet, which I'd paid a mould for out of pocket, which gets subsidised over more boards being sold - so there's a bit of accounting and logistics involved to offer these options to you. I don't actually mind the GB running process and delivery, but it does take a lot of time, risk assessment and trust that things work out between ourselves, factories and end user. That is why I want to do an instock model for the public, the burden of risk is on us and our belief that we can deliver a product to you. This means that vs. gb pricing, the instock model has a bit of a 'premium' since it is tying up money that could have been used else where. I do think we can hit around the 500$ ball park, for comparison that was the price for the EXT65 which was also instock, and gave gasket kits with several materials and enabled us to create relationships between our factories and getting feedback from our users. I would love to share way more about the process as well, maybe sometime over a podcast or something. Can you explain/provide pics on how you can "choose" to only use one mounting solution per side on a single plate?
Like, if you use an O-ring, won't the top mount and gasket tabs be free to rub against the case?
The internals of the case have been designed so that it is possible for one, single type of mounting to be engaged without conflicting with the other types. When the plate is top mounted, it does not come into contact with the bottom piece of the case. There is enough clearance so the stand offs for the o ring and the space for the sandwich mounting tabs don’t touch the plate (provided the o ring and gaskets are taken out).Show Image(https://imgur.com/rLFP2dN.jpg)
Note: this is a cross section of our model, we have not cut the prototype :)
Red is the o-ring
Blue is the PCB
Yellow parts are brass
Hopefully it shows when the o-ring is in place, the tabs on the plate don’t touch the bottom half
and finally....
People have asked about the brass weight - I haven't taken it out but with my DYI options of measuring weight (my digital scale broke, I may be getting fat), I've hacked together a simple measurement of the board with caps and switches.
*drumroll*Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/qrd2qJM.jpg)

Sorry for the wall of text. Hope all that is helpful in your decision to support us!
Will this be "in-stock" for the first public sale? Or will this always be "in-stock" on your website (ala a CannonKeys kinda situation with manufacturing rounds)?
Just wondering if I miss out on this round, could I be on the wait list for the next?
Definitely looking to get one. Love the concept of multiple mounting methods, it's like 3 keyboards in 1!
My only concern is availability...judging from recent buys (cough cough GSKT), looks like 100 units for public will sell out in seconds. I understand larger quantity will bring other issues like lead time and QC, but sounds like your concern is lack of initial capital for more units. Perhaps you can open a short GB window, maybe an hour, so people who really want the keyboard and committed to buy will get a unit secured? I have seen this in Chinese GB and seems to work pretty well so I am just suggesting. :)
I will be doing a 'small' gb for friends and family - because there's a level of trust both ways. Doing a public groupbuy would just mean I'd have to do the work for running a gb as usual, whereas doing it small and private means I can just work on the other things without the need of updates/reporting.You are my new best friend ;)

Sorry wasn't able to find any information on what colors is this supposed to be released? Would be my first time buying it not from stock or mass drop. How does this whole ordering process work? Tried to figure this out for keycult and there it seems to be some sort of lottery.

Does the clear coating on the brass weight prevent patina and corrosion from appearing on the brass? Is there also a coating on the accent as well? Thanks! It really does look great.

As I am new to the hobby I have not tried all the mounting styles yet. Nice to see a board that can let me try out several ones. Definitely in for this one.Right?! Definitely appeals to me as a not noob not yet veteran as well. Feel like it works on all levels.

Noob here. I signed up here just to say I'm very interested. Curious, the brass looking line around the sides/back of the case, is that just a visual aspect of the design or is that the side of the plate?
Any chance there will be ALPS support for the PCB?

It's just an accent, I asked earlier in the thread.
@aeryxz And man, just started looking for a southpaw and realized you made the EXT65, what a beautiful board. Don't suppose there will be an R2 at some point?

Looking to do an”DYI” cut your own case design for it, we will release files and sell pcbs. As for round 2, if there’s demand for it after constellation. Was a great project and layout and would like to do it again.
This looks absolutely gorgeous, worth shifting from ISO to ANSI for, I'm in.

See, this is where I am at as well. Can I readjust to justify buying? Not convinced just yet but following in the meantime.
Def not my first build but could be my last. This is the only board as of late that's really kept my interest outside of some crazy split and southpaw boards.

I do love the southpaw layout. The EXT65 i've been using since release has been stowed away while I test out the constellation.
Didn't get time to do a video this weekend, because I got a puppy!
ill get one for sure, any idea on the price?
the black one looks perfect for the gmk hero set but maybe one matching even more could be cool
I'm just a huge fan of supporting in stock. If it's a widely praised board, and looks as gorgeous as this, I want others to have the opportunity. I don't mind rare one-offs existing. But it feels bad when it's someone's endgame and they're forced to pay twice as much cause they were a month late in finding it.
Again. Totally realize that's just how it is, but in stock is cool.
Eh. I'd argue there's still risk. Just cause it's in stock now doesn't mean it'll be supported or have replacement parts for forever. And it's no guarantee of quality.I'm just a huge fan of supporting in stock. If it's a widely praised board, and looks as gorgeous as this, I want others to have the opportunity. lol of course we are fans of in-stock, we don't take any of the risk
Just wanna note that he plans on having a limited stock. It still sounds like there will be a lot of hype around this board. Which means if it gets popular enough, it’ll be similar to what happened with the Unikorn extras as well as what happened with GSKT. Basically it’s limited FCFS no matter how you look at it. But of course, we aren’t the ones bearing any risk that typically comes hand in hand with GBs (inevitable delays, factories pulling the cash grab and go, etc). I trust that the QC will be tight enough so l that we don’t have to wait 2 years to get a board in our hands.Eh. I'd argue there's still risk. Don't think we have to worry about that in this case. But I've backed tons of risky boards this past year. At least thats not a reason for me.
Yeah. So I guess it's still a FCFS. From what was said it's confusing as to whether it'll be restocked or not. Or just supported in the future, for those who already bought.

How will they know what the interest is like after they run out of the first run? That part kinda confused me (if I remember reading it correctly).
I dunno. It's so rare to find a 65 without any blockers. I love this just for that.
Can't wait to see all the color options rendered on this board!

FNF GB is underway. Looking at Q2 at this point, earlier if we're lucky. Still got some logistics things going on too, so hopefully will sort that stuff out soon.
How is it going? I'm anxious for an update, it's been a while :p
Is the sale still good for Q2 2020? May? June?
How does space grey look?
Will there be accent color choices other than raw brass?

The Aegis Navy looks so gorgeous. Any news on if we may see this soon? The AE navy is one of their signature color, it will definitely be part of the constellation choices.
Will paypal be a payment option
Been following the Constellation 65% GB since that start. Can't wait for the GB... I hope I'm able to get one
As someone that's new to the mech scene and looking to get in on a good GB, I think I've found my match. Being able to try multiple mounting methods on one keeb seems like a great idea.My prediction is that it will sell out in minutes, if not even sooner depending on the number of units they have (At least 100). Just gotta be ready on GB day, whenever that's announced. ;)
The fact it's Australian is just another plus.
What are the chances of getting in on a GB for something like this? Seems like it'll sell out in minutes
I believe we may have a case of first Constellation in the wild...Can verify this is a real-world sighting. Can assume a typing test is around the corner.

Has pricing been announced yet?
I’d be very interested in adding this to my 65% collection!
what's the price range?
I'm aiming for 450-550. Trying to get it cheaper as possible, but for a reference, our previous model the EXT65 was 500.
Is there any way of registering interest at this point? So as to know when the keyboard will be released to the public for sale.
Prepared to have my bank call me for fraud protection, this and the Think 6.5 look fantastic. If only there were renders of the red one...

I do not believe keyboardtreehouse accepts Paypal.
Will there be half plates to take advantage of the pcb cut outs? What plate materials will be offered?
HOT DANG! And from Aus no less! I hope I'll be able to snag one :)

Looks like around 500, but that was announced end of January. We haven't really heard of any updates since then. I hope an update comes soon, I want this before summer ends :(

Does this PCB have ESD protection? I couldn't find that information and it seems important for a custom kit to reduce the chances of it dying (I'd buy an extra PCB anyways).

are you going to change bottom design (for a better bumpon location/look)?
I can see GMK Lux looking amazing with those brass trim pieces. Really hope I get a chance at this!
Is there going to be a typing sound test any time soon?
who is the pcb vendor?
Wonderful work as always!
I've been wondering if the 450-550 price range is still looking to be true, and if a groupbuy date is in the works? I've read that it's been moved to Q2 of 2020, but am just wondering how far into the quarter.
Lastly, i'd love to see the space grey colour if you've got the prototype around! I'm wondering how dark/light it'd be compared to most anodized aluminum greys.

This is very nice! Quite honestly I want this board to be my first build, I'm worried it'll sellout in seconds since there's limited available. Looking forward to the typing test!
hopefully a raffle could be put together for something with this amount of anticipation.

i just recently heard of ppl using bots for FCFS. is this a prevalent issue in the mech keyboard community when it comes to these highly anticipated items?

450-550 will almost certainly still hold true, although expect the upper half of that estimate.
Any chances of an aluminum plate? Excited to throw my wallet at this!

I'd assume so, it's prevalent in basically anything that is sold in limited quantities and has resale value. High end keyboards have some resale value. This is all an assumption of mine but I wouldn't put it past some to use bots.
So far, our models (AEGIS, EXT65) haven't really hit the after market. This makes me happy as it means that people are actually using their boards, and I hope this will be the case with constellation.
Thanks for the kind words everyone!
I've sourced alternative manufacturer for Orings, I believe my previous order was affected by COVID and lost at sea through the shipping container that toppled a few weeks ago. These were ordered pre-COVID. I will be testing with these new orings, but the dimensions and material density should be the same.
We've greenlit production about a week ago, but there's many pieces involved as well as higher MOQ - so I'll update you when things are "ready" or "readier".
Still waiting on our packaging with constellation, and I think when it is revealed you'll all be happy about the choice we made.
While it's almost end of Q2, it's likely that we'll start shipping some out to our FNF GB early Q3 if nothing else comes up (fingers crossed). Apologies for the delay, but we actually went through an extra round of prototyping and production samples to make sure we try to solve everything and ensure that we are happy with the product we're releasing.
For those who are worried about not being able to get one, there's 150units being made outside the FNF, and will be shipped to me in batches. This means that they will come to me, have QC and packing, then listed on the keyboard treehouse and shipped after purchase. We'll have several windows/timezones of releases, so there will be multiple chances to get one. Having said that, if there's still demand for more, we'll make more.
Is the O ring mount just O rings between the plate/case where the screws thread?Nah. It's not burger. Official o-ring (Jane v2 ce, otd 356 mini, gskt-00, etc).

I don't believe you will have any issues hitting MOQ that's for sure.

A point about the plate design:
The fixed layout has split-backspace and the plate still offers a 2u backspace slot.
May as well be a hotswap PCB if the layout is fixed.
Maybe i'm wrong but when you say "It will be instock when available to the public", that means the is it first come , first served? You guys have a beautiful design here and I am really enjoying the weight design also.

We won't have a problem because we set the MOQ and have bought out all the units. It will be instock when available to the public. This model works better for you as WE take on the risk, and is far more customer friendly than group buys. Keep in mind we are only 3 people doing this as a hobby part time, and still manage to raise the capital required for such a project...

Super interested in this board. The space grey is a dark grey or a light grey?
The different mounting styles is a super nice feature.
Also 150 it's a really low number, there is a LOT, and i really mean A LOT of interest in this board, maybe after first batch (and all the winners have recieved their boards) you should made a GB with a 24h window, or something like that.
Also is there a discord to follow the process?

@aeryxz how's the FnF/prototype batch going?
yeah, the influencer red is really gorgeous!
I may have missed this somewhere, but we'll be notified days before the GB correct? I'd imagine It'd get grabbed up quickly given the number of slots.

Update: Annodisation is almost done.
We're getting to the finish line soon(tm) - it took a little longer than we wanted but that's the situation of things in 2020.
Once they're ready and packed, they'll reach us in Sydney. We'll spend time doing our internal QC and making sure that we have some boards we're happy to sell and send out.
The first wave of units will be the FNF GB - these will be shipped out first.

The next wave of units will be on the keyboard treehouse website. We'll definitely post information about release schedule when we have them in stock. We'll do multiple waves of times for releasing units, so that at least one of the windows will be around your prime time. We like doing waves of releases as it helps us manage and pack things at the rate we feel comfortable with, and it allows people multiple chances to try snag one. We'll put a limit of 1 per person for now.
We plan to have 150 units for instock public sale, with additional accessories. We'll also have accessories in sale from waves. The standard kit should give you everything you need to toy around with your base line experience - and don't worry if you miss out on accessories, we'll fast follow with additional accessories if there is a demand for it.
We'll probably do another round of PCBS with additional layout support, plates of other various materials (POM is a new favourite of mine, using it in the EXT65) and accent colours.
Please join the keyboard treehouse discord (keyboardtreehouse.com/discord) to keep up to date, and be part of the constellation conversation when it happens, as I'm keen to find out what people like, and what accessories are most in demand.
Until then, hope everyone has enjoyed the naevy switches (R2 will be soon, just making minor adjustments based on the first round of feedback), and EXT65r2 PCBs (I loved seeing people make their own cases for this great layout) - and we'll have more news soon(tm)
Did you really need to quote the entire update to ask that?

They will have a limited number of units available for purchase right away, unlike a typical GB where you place an order and wait months for the board.
Noob question for you guys.
In the video, the gasket mounted method shows the gap between the top aluminum piece and the bottom aluminum piece when he compresses it to show the compression. ( @ 5:34)
Does that mean if mounted in gasket form, the keyboard will always have that gap when the build is completed?

That's just to show how much the gasket gets compressed by the case when you screw the top and bottom together. Bigger gap before compression = stiffer feeling plate.
Have prices been determined? On the board itself and extra such as the 4.5mm plates, ect.

FINALLY! I really NEED a blue one in my life. Typically not into blockers on 65s, so this styling is perfect for me. I'm assuming we can order additional accent pieces to mix and match them when the time comes?

We'll do another run straight after if there's demand for it. We all like the model design and it's fairly unique and pretty dope, and I wanna make sure everyone can try to get one. We'll work out how that is possible once we've finish the first run and have gotten feedback.
Considering this thread has been read over 108,000+ times. I'd say there's more than adequate demand lol.
Will you be doing anything to try and combat bots?

Yes. we have manual payments on shopify so it's all reviewed. It will be limited one per person. We'll have multiple waves for releases too. And we'll have R2 fast follow straight after we have these sold.

Love this. I wish this strategy was more viable for other vendors/designers/kit runners so everyone could get what they want.
Definitely lets me plan around getting in on this with some amount of certainty.
Please dear god make enough of these. I want this so damn bad.

Based on the feedback in this thread and how beautiful yet accessible the design is, I'm sure (and hope) there's adequate demand :)
Very much hope that it is within my price range so I can pick one of these up!
really love this board, if a hotswap version comes out i'll definitely join. since this lets you try so many mounting methods in one go, i really want to have a hotswap pcb to go with it so i can do even more testing with less work.

This makes sense, IMO would be awesome to have an addon option for hotswap, even if the design team prefers solder PCB, offering this will probably make it the end game kb all around and get more ppl talking about it.
I understood you had issues with Navy Blue Quality, is this still valid or am I wrong?

We're exploring hotswaps and we are looking at doing our first hotswap board with the EXT65 pcb revision.
The problem with hotswap is that we would have to enforce choices like stepped or split backspace - luckily not the bottom row since this is fixed. The other challenge is making sure the pcb is locked securely into place, since our design isn't a tray mount - but this might be a minor issue and not a real world problem as it seems.
Since constellation will get another release and updates to the eco system, it will likely happen in the future. Otherwise you can get holtites (my preffered) or some millmaxs and chuck em in.
any revision toward those gasket strips (or the gasket sandwich method) in the next round Eric?

not sure what you mean here.
We have our standarised gaskets (https://www.aeboards.com/resources) available, we've tried a few different materials but in the works trying a new material. Shape won't change but probably will offer a few more materials.

i saw tae's vid and he said that half isolation was recommended and it was too tight for the full isolation. so i think there are some kind of faults about strip thickness or design 😅
correct me if i'm wrong, and this is still a must buy board for me tho
I understood you had issues with Navy Blue Quality, is this still valid or am I wrong?
No issues yet. Not sure where you heard this.
We have multiple shipments due to the amount ordered, most of the Dark Grays will be sent in the second batch. We will still have DG in the first shipment.how can i get it? under keyboard treehouse linked to this thread :((
thx
You can buy it when we list it on the shop
wew so that's how it is. ty so much
last questions. is it possible to combine the oring and top isolation on this board? ne caution avail? 😅😅
Will there be an option to add on an extra PCB?

Yes, YMMV though. It's not designed for that purpose but why not?!Will there be an option to add on an extra PCB?
Right now, we have a handful of extras, we're gonna do another run of pcbs soon as well as new plates materials
----
We're waiting for some invoices from old mate customs and DHL, once we have that we can work out the finalised pricing.
We've QC'ed the boards we have on hand and waiting for second shipment soon.
Once FNF units are out, we'll have 50 for sale as in-stock, over several waves and timezones, including extra addons like accents, plates etc.
We mostly have BLACK and NAVY avail, with DARK GARYS coming in the second shipment.
You'll be seeing a bunch of photos and videos soon I suspect as our friends and family start receiving them.
Thanks for bearing with us!

50 in stock!???! T_T??? I'm going to poop my pants if I don't get this board I've waited literally 5 month smh. I'm working with an old HHKB right now I think it's so old it might explode any chance you can make an exception for a future covid patient?

5 months? the IC is 10 months old. just calm down, try to get the board like the rest of us, and maybe start carrying around some flushable wipes ;)

Nice keyboard
Nice keyboard
Is this Naevy blue or black? Asking as I thought the black one has red strip around it.

All constellation stock kits come with brass accents, regardless of colour. The one i have is a black unit :)

Thanks! Does that mean red accent won't come in as stock and will be offered later as extra? I think I saw the black kit with red accent in TaeKeyboard's video and that looks sick.

Just because they have it, doesn't mean they got it for free. They just got first bids to be able to buy it
Don't feel bad if you miss out on constellation this run. We'll fast follow with another huge order, and keep on making more as long as you all love it.

Gasp/apiary was part of fnf and she paid for hers like all our fnf. ZT boards was a trade between AEboards as I like to keep each keyboard we have collaborated with. Qw3 will be lent one of my personal boards, mostly for creating dope content for him. Other fnf people have sent theirs to other streamers directly, like lightning and bueno.
No boards were given free, I don’t operate on that model because I’m prepaying out of pocket to get these made. Please don’t assume how we operate or do things, and I’m usually transparent on how we do things.

Damn i was so exited for this board but the pricetag... 500 was already pushing it but 600 is too much imo.Is that 600usd or aud?
I understand how unique this board is but the keycult lvl pricing is just killing me.
All the best to you guys, the keyboard looks amazing.

It's USD. Keep in mind that this is an in stock item. You buy it, and they will ship it to you as soon as possible. They had to front all the costs initially, which will always mean a slightly higher price
Board looks amazing but for 600 I'm out. If the PCB was hotswap I would be more tempted so I could try all the different mounting styles with different switches. It would be an amazing tester board with all the mounting styles and plates. Truly endgame.Just use mill max sockets.

Not sure if I read their posts on discord correctly, but I don't think the flipped price raised the retail price did it? I think they finally released what the retail price was to avoid people from flipping it with astronomical figures since there wasn't a set price on it yet. I may be completely wrong though, so let me know otherwise

Also gotta factor in that this is an in-stock. All KC boards have been group buys so far. There's an increase in price associated with in stock and lask of investment risk. The big advantage is getting your board now, and not 6-9 months from now.

That's a bit of stretch to rationalize that in-stock should charge/cost more. There's a difference between in-stock and extras. In stock items does not cost a vendor any more money to manufacture. you can argue that they may need additional storage space but these in stock boards aren't made in huge quantities and sitting somewhere for months. so if you say that in stock should cost more, then what are you paying that extra $$$ for? interest on the money vendor fronted? time on the consumer side? how is a vendor to determine how much each person's time cost?
the notion that in stock should cost more is just a rationalization that doesn't make sense (to me). see for example, KDB in stock vs pre-order gb and in stock switches.
OTOH, vendors can monetize on extras because of the fear of scarcity or the fear that they will never be made again. but that's a completely different issue than in stock.

Oh sweet summer child.
Yeah let me compare a full time vendor based in china vs. a group of hobbyist doing this in their spare time. Like I've been saying, don't like the price, vote with your wallet, feel free to not buy it.

don't need to get defensive and don't misconstrue my comment as applying directly to your board.
saw zee's comment and got me thinking that way of thinking is incorrect, IMO. it's also a bad seed to plant within the community.
i can understand what prizes and aadk is thinking. but to me, in stock vs gb is purely a choice of business model. to say one business model should be able to charge a premium doesn't make sense.
sorry if this is a bit off topic. still this is more of a theoretical discussion and not a discussion directly on your pricing or your board. your board. your price. just be comfortable with ppl discussion on everything. feel free to not read comments and discussions.

They're probably getting fed up of people continuing to remark on the price. I have to agree that it's quite expensive, but not crazy. I don't know any other group in the hobby that have produced 100s of high end boards with their own money to be sold as in-stock (I've only been in the hobby a few years though, so may not know). That is reason enough I think to charge what they are.Oh sweet summer child.

i dont understand why some runners feel like they need to use sarcasm against people's questions or comments.
There’s a ton more risk for the involved in an in-stock “business model” over a GB model. The seller has to purchase (everything related to materials, manufacturing, shipping and yields/QC) PRIOR to any outside capital being injected into the project.Oh sweet summer child.

The reality, it is a GB discount. Not an in-stock markup.
*cough cough* g60 *cough cough*The reality, it is a GB discount. Not an in-stock markup.
Preach, man. Surprised to hear a keyboard hobbyist downplay the benefit paying 10-15% more money for a keyboard kit, then receiving it days later instead of months later. There are so many failed and postponed GBs we can compare to.
