Alps Switchplate Compatibility
« on: Sat, 24 March 2018, 20:37:50 »
So, a friend of mine recently damaged a keyboard of his in a fit of... ehm... "video-gaming induced duress".  The keyboard is a custom AT-101W with Matias red tactile switches in it, a few of which I suspect have had their contact plates damaged.  I've a spare stock of some well used, but still fully operational black alps with the complicated style switchplate, and I was thinking of transplanting switchplates from some of those into the broken Matias switches.  I'm pretty certain the transplant will work, but I haven't been able to find any info online to confirm this.

Put simply, will the switchplates from complicated alps fit in simplified designs like Matias switches, and if they do are there any other considerations I need to keep in mind when doing this?
