Just got my hhkb yesterday and already dental flossed it and lubed it. Feels great but some of my keys have an annoying pinging sound. Any remedies?

But there is no metal. What pings?
Sorry not pinging. It's most likely rattling. As soon as I hit a key I hear a tapping. I may not have lubed those enough.

I was thinking the same thing, the only thing I could think he might be describing is the spring getting stuck to the membrane when a key is depressed.  When released, it pops against the pcb and makes a slight clicking noise. This is more common on newer topre keyboards though, so I could be wrong here.  It's explained, and pictured a lot better here! http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=46648.msg986642#msg986642

Very nice collection, rowdy! Are they permanently on your keyboard or just a few keys and you swap depends on mood?

All but the steel Bro are generally on there - that one is a bit too heavy for the 45g HHKB domes.

I got done with the mod about 30 mins ago, so it's early days ye - the domes are brand spanking new (new 87UB55 arrived earlier today for the transplant), so I'm guessing they'll need to wear-in a little before I really get the full effect.

but I do like it!

gotta say too - the steel plate on the 87UB does making typing feel pretty nice! Think I may end up using it as my keyboard at work...

Took ~2 weeks for my 55g domes to break in with daily use. They're amazing though. Hope you like it!

yeah I think my 45g domes took around that long to break in, although after using the keyboard for the past few hours, I'm already noticing a subtle, but nice difference. definitely liking it better than 45g!

It's tricky trying to come up with new things for this bb. I kind of like how this one came out.

Yeah that looks really good. Now you need some kind of half white/half red cable, and a canadian Brobot in the middle!

Lol! BUT 'MURICA?! The Canadian Brobot is very nice though :P Funny thing is, with the HHKB, there is a center cap for the top row. If I had a blank blue set, I'd totally do a 'Murica theme :))

Hehe~ This may be the first time doing half and half since last year's Christmas, when I did half green and half red back. That one was kinda wild. Lol.

I think I have an idea of what you're going to do, and I LIKE IT!!! I look forward to the photo laterrrrrr!!!

As a homage to my favorite sports team, the Chicago Blackhawks, I have created these two Realforce 87U keyboards using each other's stock caps along with a red set ordered from widebasket on eBay.

"Home" - A donor board that was modified to uniform 45g (save for a couple non-essential keys) and silenced with silicone and Krytox 205. All of the key travel with just the right amount of noise.

"Away" - A stock silent variable weight model. Perfect for all the typing I must do on a daily basis at work.

Very nice, thanks for posting these!
My dream boards are a red+gray and a blue+yellow color scheme due to the two universities I have attended. The black realforce with red and white caps looks very similar to what I have in mind for the first color scheme.

Just my HHKB, no fancy keys... or camera lol

I love this. Wish I had printed caps... I have no problem typing on my blanks, but I'm liking the look of printed caps more and more, especially on the HHKB.

Thanks. I've had quite a few mechanical boards but never posted here. Hopefully this is my last. I think blank keys would look cleaner but that would take a bit more work.

That's no way to think around here!!  :P   This isn't called wallethack for no reason.  ;)

Blanks typically do look a bit cleaner, but I personally prefer printed.   :thumb:

I've never used a flipped space bar till now.

Received my new favorite board ever from bro. Realforce 104 UB-DK. the space bar is flipped and I left it, feels cool. Love this damn board.
