It really isn't my business what he chooses to charge for his work. One of the many things my Mother taught me "Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it". She also taught me to spend my money wisely. That surely is not in an auction that is over $650 for one single artisan keycap. I just think this auction idea could have been given to charity and I voiced that. Would I have entered had it been said that the proceeds would go to charity? Yes. I gladly spent $200+ in Zorbs raffle. Would I still at this price point? No. Not trying to throw shade on ETF in the least. I still feel like I have won! I have a healthy baby girl ready to arrive any moment now and even entering for $53 like todays birb-drop offering is a stretch at this time in my life. Still I continue to try and get poisoned. Anyways, whomever gets it. Enjoy it!

But then don't get to tell people you donate to charities while also having cap.

The point is valid. Yet taken out of context. I chose to enter in the sale today. I chose to not participate in said auction. What I do with my money is none of your business, just as what ETF does trying to get money is none of mine, unless I CHOOSE to give it to them. Which I declined in this avenue. You seem to not have liked it? I apologize from the depths of my cold soul. Have a great one!

Who says ETF doesn't donate quietly everything he receives for this project to charity?  Who knows if he isn't supporting a really terrible addiction to omelettes or making a giant bed of money?  Let art be art, and well if the hype is real and you aboard the train I guess time to get a promotion and/or take out a mortgage.

This has come up over and over again over the years. It isn't hard to get post count at least into the double digits and show you have interacted a little bit with the community. Even if it is just for show. When you see someone with 0 posts and a several months old account you have to wonder what they are here for.

This is my beef with the hobby, it can be a very selfish hobby for yourself, or you can participate/share with others. Maybe there is nothing wrong with being selfish, but not everyone will see it that way. That is the "us" contributors and and people who share versus the "them" who just want to gobble everything up for themselves.  Sometimes I feel selfish for having nice caps when I could have saved that money or purchased things for my wife or child.

I think it's because a lot of the users here want new users to interact in all aspects of the community, not just flock to Artisans services for Poison Summer than never come back once it's done.  Artisans are great and all, but there are much more things to be interested in and most of the 0 posters have only posted in the Nightcaps thread or other Artisan Services threads.

I can see that, but what I was getting at is crapping on new people about not having any posts I feel like deters people from posting. So it ends up being counter productive in a sense. At least in my case I've been extremely cautious about posting because I figured it would get torn apart and deemed a ****post immediately.

As far as the part of the community thing goes, a lot of people are here from Reddit, at least in my case, I've been very active on r/MK. But again "Reddit is leaking" doesn't make it seem like some care too much about how involved said person is in community.

I picture it more like, it is quite astounding at the number of people with spanking new accounts and only post on Nightcaps artisan thread. I don't really see people running around with pitch forks, more like just flipping some ****, which shouldn't be taken too personally. From my perspective, it is mildly annoying to have this thread get bumped a million times before anything even happens with content that maybe could be discussed somewhere else.

I completely get that. I literally just got into this hobby with my husband at the beginning of Poisoned Summer. I'm not hating on anyone, I do not feel entitled, please do not take what I am saying that way. I don't yet have anything to contribute because I am still learning. Yes, I am a n00b when it comes to all things mechanical keyboard.

Yeah I can see that. My argument is somewhat of a double edged sword but -taking my experience as an example- the ETF sales brought me here. Then, much like Reddit, I planned on being active, engaging in topics, hopefully answer questions, and so on. Then seeing all the negativity towards people with 0 posts (again just from a new person perspective, not saying there is any truth to it) it seems like "noobs" aren't welcome. That's the "US and them" feeling I was talking about

mi nombre es la flama blanca

I generally hate all keycaps. Keycaps are for poofs. Real men touchtype on stems. Non-functional artisans are awesome, I use them for the ESC key ... escape is for cowards anyways, real men go frontal assault.

If someone chimed into the new members area and answered a couple questions, then popped over to media and some other sections of the forums they could easily be over 10 posts in short order. Everyone was new once.

Any stigma surrounding people from reddit exists for a reason, but just like stereotypes you shouldn't apply them to everyone, or apply them ever probably. In a fashion geekhack is old guard and reddit is new guard. It doesn't help that ripster was banned here and then went on to  make /r/mk explode with a little help from others. All this is really a discussion for a different place though. Also a discussion that has happened over and over and can probably be searched for.

Not sure if responding to what I said, but my point was IDGAF about new accounts and zero posts, it is just noticeable the number of new accounts (no judgement, just an observation of something unusual and apparent). I just don't like to sit on GH and refresh for the poor dead bird, so I have notifications set up and get alerted anytime someone comments... which I'm doing right now so I'll stop  :p

In all seriousness though, pointing out how someone has 0 posts to imply that their opinion matters less doesn't exactly cross over as welcoming. It kind of gives the place an "us and them" feeling

Edit: can't spell so gud

Good point, on that note, thanks for being conversational about it.

Also, less than 4 hours left
