[IC] Artisan Case - Snaccbox *2020 UPDATE*
« on: Fri, 14 December 2018, 15:44:50 »
Hi all,

The time has come. I’ve revamped the design (SNACCBOX v2) so it is more cost-effective for the end-user. I’ve also managed to find a factory that will run a MoQ of 20, so we ready to go!

NEW IC FORM (THE FINAL ONE!): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe0eBuZS4dP10XDO4uoXh7sxHxt25OD6RbHlMdbe8PLa_tFbg/viewform?usp=sf_link

Design
Design incorporates a 10 x 8 grid of 0.83” slots with a depth of 0.375”
Two-piece design (base & lid with thumb slot to open)
-Base: Aluminum (anodized or Cerakoted) or Frosted PC
-Top: Clear acrylic
Bumpons on bottom
Stackable base (PC only)

Price
*note these are estimates based on my prototype

Just in the middle of talks with my manufacturer on this.. Somewhere ballpark $165, we are looking at ways to make it a bit cheaper, however the intent is to keep it with a premium look and feel.

Very slick design!
Is there an option for acrylic/frosted bottom?

Stackable middle so you can get even more storage if your name is Rmendis  :))

ROFL. Just a stackable middle probably won't help. Mendis blows through 5 of those in one setting.

I'm in based on price. I think $150 is probably my limit, but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far!

There will be but only if it brings the price down. I should have final pricing shortly!

Would I be the only one interested in small etchings around the edge to letter and number the rows ?  Alot of the times it is alot easier to explain/ show off with a number attached so others know which is which.

This is a really awesome idea/project! Can't wait to see pricing and GB dates :)

Are you going to provide more renders in the future once you get more info/feedback from the community?

Current standings for colour options:

I am hoping we get the numbers to offer two cerakote colours, and then I will try to ensure we have an ano or polished alu in there for those that want a more metallic/natural look.

Very excited to see the prototype. How strong would the magnets be to hold the lid on? Are you trying to make it strong enough to flip upside down without the lid coming off? Are there any plans for a grove to pull the lid open (similar to laptops flipping the screen open, see below)? Or are you planning on keeping it flush around the case.

Magnets will be strong earth magnets and will be adjusted based on prototype results to ensure lid stays closed upside down. Holes for caps should be shallow enough to remove without a tool, but without letting them flip and fall out of the holes.

There is already a groove (basically what you pictured, but it is not split over the gap) on the lid for grip to remove the lid. See first image. I will explore shifting this downward so you can more easily split the middle and the lid.

D'oh my mistake. I thought that indent was for the optional engraving, but then I saw the actual engraving in the same picture. I am not a smart man.

Hey All! Sorry for lack of update, I've been sick with the flu and busy af at work! Machinist is just getting the bits back together to extend the working surface so we can keep the case the size it is.. I'm getting daily updates from him so hopefully we can get started on actual machining later this week..

Yes it has! After we talked about cases for over an hour, Ive really decided I can almost wait no longer .. Im having to keep caps in a  large box with foam for storage atm. This Is a much needed addition for my collection!
