This is for a single front diffuser that matches the stock ones that came with the board with added Zeal compatibility.

Should the Cherry screw-in stabs from the current Originative GB be expected to interfere with the stock Duck front diffuser?

Does anyone have access or a copy to the .eps or .svg file that was used to create the Poly/Alum/SS plates? If so, please shoot me a pm!

Edit: Made my own. I plan on having a stainless steel plate fabricated next week  :thumb:

Can you write a small comparison of acrylic vs ss/alu with a tactile switch like zealios?

If you can, thanks!  :thumb:

I'll write one up when I get home but so far I have found that on 67g Zealios the plastic plate feels much nicer than the Alu plate. I still have another one to build with the SS plate so I'll get around to writing that one up at some point

Pretty sure you'll have to make/source a brass plate yourself

I am talking with someone about the plate, waiting on his feedback with the prototype.

In terms of the weight, I am waiting for an email from Duck. Meanwhile my Orion/BB weight GB is still ongoing so I am unable to go through with any new GB yet.

Finally got around to building my silver Eagle today.

Chucked some newly-arrived XDA Milestone kits + Granite mods on, a combination that turned out better than I was expecting. Still need to do keyswitch LEDs, but not sure on the colour I want yet... additionally, this board is likely to end up with GMK caps, so I need to source 1.8mm LEDs. Anyone know an inexpensive supplier with a decent range of colours?

Now to flash it with a sane keymap...

Sounds great - am interested in this too should it come to fruition. I'm assuming that the weights will fit in the internal cutout on the bottom plate, right?

Yep - it's at the center now. I've yet to see other PCB's compatible with the viper/eagle series due to their different mounting holes etc, so be careful if you're soldering stuff to it!

I used both LED and switch holtites on my build (and also on my Blackbird). They work pretty well, just make sure you use a soldering iron (without solder) to push them in for a second or two. The heat and pressure help fix them in place and prevent them from coming out when you're removing switches... although that's not a huge issue either way.

Last question - does the switches wobble when you type on them with the holtites on? I imagine it would be fine seeing that there's the plate on top, but I might be mistaken. Thanks again!!

PS: Pretty sure they're the ones here: 8134-HC-8P3 or 8134-HC-8P2 for switches and 8134-HC-5P2 for LED's. I personally got mine at https://www.mouser.com, for a total of approx ~ $80 (150x each) with shipping.

There's no wobble. They're pretty hard to get out again, actually -- you really need a pair of tweezers that curve in toward each other to remove the switches easily once they're in. Honestly, I think if you're using PCB-mount switches you could go plateless and they still wouldn't wobble. The holtites do indeed 'hold tight'.

johnthedong is right about the part numbers for the holtites. Specifically, I used 8134-HC-8P2 for switches and 8134-HC-5P2 for LEDs, both of which are the gold variants. The tin ones are much cheaper but I wanted completely invisible bling, for some reason.

As for where I bought them, I got mine from onlinecomponents.com, but there are many electronics suppliers that sell them. As electronics suppliers give you price-breaks on unit pricing as you purchase more units at once, in order to figure out where to buy them you'll want to do something like:
  • Decide roughly how many you want / can afford right now
  • Google up a bunch of suppliers for them
  • Figure out who is cheapest based on the amount you want and cost of shipping to you
And remember, you need 2 per switch.

2 LED holtites and 2 switch holtites per switch - I accidentally ordered a few less due to this for another project before. I've found that mouser gives the cheapest quote if you're looking for smaller amounts too, and their shipping is usually really reasonable and fast. It's great to hear that they work pretty well - I'm assuming that the Duck Viper V2 board doesn't have any close holes (that might break if you insert them incorrectly) and such, right? Can't wait to get started on my kit!

What kind of holtites did you use? and where to get it? (US)

Thanks man

johnthedong is right about the part numbers for the holtites.

Thanks guys, will it still work well without soldering iron, i actually dont have one thats why im planning to use holtites

I am actually not sure - pretty sure that heat from the soldering iron would help with the seating of the holtites though but I've seen videos where people have inserted them without the soldering iron.

Diffuser Update:

So I got the plastic in!  We're almost ready to ship.  I'm going into the shop tomorrow to have the pieces cut while I wait!

Damnn any spares available? Pretty sure(or not?) I filled in the gdoc form a few weeks ago, but I've not gotten any communication since. Thanks!
PS: I've refilled the form again, sorry for the trouble if I've already filled in once before.

Sorry for any confusion, we haven't invoiced yet... It will happen this week. Since it's going to be under $10 shipped (US) I figured there is no reason to have this long drawn out pay-period.  If anyone can't afford to pay this week just PM me and we'll work it out -- no worries!  On top of that, I'm sure we will have a few extra.  If you're not sure if you filled out the form just do it again and  leave a note of how many you actually want.
