Hi keyboard lovers :)

Here is my two keebs.

ikbc c87 cherry mx brown with dsa dolch and my cheapest keyboard ever - ajazz ak33 with some blue switches.

Before ikbc I had Das 4 Professional crapboard and got "key chattering" after one year. I'm also got some Greetech brown switches instead of cherry.

Recently bought an optical switched keyboard: Razer Huntsman.
I was so frustrated with chattering so I wanted to try a different switch technology, hoping that this time I won't experience chattering anymore.

I started using mechanical keyboards back in 2015. I had 2 keyboards having Cherry MX Blue and Cherry MX Browns... Both of them were horribly chattering so in 2016 I bought a Logitech G810 because it's newly designed Romer-G switches were advertised as "Specifically designed with double contact mechanism to eliminate chatter" but guess what ? it also started chattering horribly last year. Not only that but many keys also sometimes stopped registering key presses leaving me frustrated. Everyday I was treating every faulty switch with pure alcohol, which works for few hours and few days and then either it or some other key starts acting up again...

So 3 is enough for me.
I think I will never buy or use a traditional metal contact switched mechanical keyboard again. I will use optical, capacitive, hall effect, magnetic etc... whatever other technology from now on but never a metal contact switch again...

Going back and forth between a Realforce 87U variable weight and a lubed HHKB depending on my mood. I was using HHKB so much, but now I'm using RF even more. And tomorrow, trying out a uniform 55g Realforce. Finding my end game with mechanical keyboards has been tough!
Current driver: HHKB Pro 2 (BKE Ultra Lights), Wooting One w/ Flaretech Red switches and HyperX PBT keycaps.

Other keyboards I own and like: Realforce 87U Variable Weight, Realforce 87U 55g, Niz Plum, Magicforce 108 Gateron Reds w/ O-Rings.

Other keyboards I have: Magicforce 68 Cherry MX Brown, Havit Low-Profile Kailh Blue, Logitech K740,
Yeah, it's a loooooooooooot of keyboards. :P

Rocking a Realforce 87U 55g board. I think I found my endgame board. It's addicting to type on, and I wrote 4-5 pages in a few hours on it yesterday night. Looking forward to getting even more work done on it. :D

They are very comfortable to type on, aren't they!  I'm using mine at home at the moment - it was the keyboard of choice when I could choose only one to keep out of the box during a recent house move.

Recently bought an optical switched keyboard: Razer Huntsman...

I was enjoying typing on the demo of that keyboard at Best Buy and was interested in the switch more,  but man is it loud. Like buckling spring loud to me, I thought. And this was in an open store - I can't imagine what that keyboard would be like in my home late at night gaming or typing sessions. Regardless, enjoy. Did you know Bloody makes the same keyboard using same opti switches for half the price?

I currently just got this last week and been enjoying the Gateron Brown's in it as well as the layout.  Compact size better for gaming and price is right:

Thanks :) Yes I know. Unfortunately I can't buy most of the keyboards mentioned here in geekhack.org because of language layout differences and country customs restrictions.

As for optical switch technology; Bloody only have it's B640 model available in our country with Turkish layout. Besides it's both discontinued and not a proper implementation of the Turkish layout. And also unfortunately I find Bloody keyboards a little bit gaudy looking. I liked the minimalist and more formal look of Huntsman more.
So Huntsman was also available in Turkish layout in my country and I bought it.

So, after having:

  • CM QFR
  • Poker 2
  • Filco Majestouch
  • FC660m
  • Pok3r
  • Kul ES87
  • MagicForce 68
  • WhiteFox Aria
  • Anne Pro 2
  • Tina-A custom build HHKB layout

I fell in love with the HHKB layout and decided to buy an actual HHKB for work!

Did not expect to fall in love with Topre the way I did. Sold the Tina and now the HHKB comes to work and back home with me. I type on it, game on it, everything. It is an absolute joy to use.

Bought my first mechanical keyboard (Hexgears Impulse) last week, and fell in love. Bought that one with Kailh Box Brown switches, and definitely plan to keep it. It did immediately arouse a desire for something clicky, but knowing what the wife's reaction would be, decided to go down a cheap route. Found a seller on facebook marketplace with an unused Rosewill RK-9300 with Cherry MX Blue switches, who sold it to me for $20! One day I might open this to replace the switches with Kailh Box Pinks or something like that, but I am all set for now.

Really like that board. I am a sucker for classic Cherry/GMK caps.

I am currently using a tada68 with gateron browns and the stock PBT caps which I love the feel of. Just ordered a TOFU case which will be my first high quality case. Pretty stoked.

Just swipped my OCN Edition DK 9008 G2 Pro back from my mother-in-law, who has become hooked on this board.  So I slipped her one of my other boards w/ a different switch type so i can find out which switch she prefers as I plan to surprise her with her own for Mother's Day or her Bday (plus there's no way she's getting this board w/ my Miami Night SA caps too lol)

One finger typist?

I just go in off topic and mash the keyboard with my fingerfist.

And there was me thinking it was the wine making you do that :p

I spent an absolutely obscene amount of money a month ago on a new old stock AEK with orange alps. This keyboard has ruined me - I've stopped rotating keyboards at home, my great condition AEKII with salmons at work leaves me dissatisfied, and even my client-site keyboard which has the lovely new retooled MX browns doesn't hold my interest.

No regrets.

What keyboard am I using now?  Well, right this minute I'm using the built-in keyboard of a scrounged Dell Latitude laptop.  But you didn't come here to read that.

I have two restored Model M boards.  One was for the office, and one was for home.  But since my work went to the dreaded open office plan, I can no longer get away with the clacky-clack of the M, so I had to take it home, and I bought a Cherry G80-3000 board with Blues to replace it.  Put a set of white PBT caps on it so I'd have the F and J bumps.

After using it a while I realized it was costing me too much desk space in my tiny little open office carrel, so I ordered a smaller form factor metal-base mechanical board from Aliexpress, with knockoff Blues and funky backlight effects that I disabled immediately.

The knockoff blue switches are not really bad, lighter than real Cherry, but reasonably okay for the price.  But I just miss the Model M every time I use either of these.  I'm faster and more accurate on the M.  You might say it's not a fair comparison to match up the very lowest-end blue switch boards against the IBM, and you'd be right, but I work from home as much as I can now, and I'm not going to drop big coin for a higher-end board to leave at the office.

I wish there was a modern mechanical switch with buckling spring feel.

The input club Silo Beam switch looks like it might be just that. Time will tell.
