When we're talking Mac Univers57 layout, are we talking about putting the legends in the correct position as in the layout I had WASD print laser for me a few months back?

Just thought I'd throw this in here. I have 2 sets of those thin PBT caps from Cherry (lasered). They are not worth it, IMHO. I would MUCH rather pay more for a thick set. The thicker stabilised keycaps on the G80's are also ABS, not PBT. They are nowhere near as nice as proper thick older Cherry sets.

The only switches I can see the thin PBT caps suiting are Blues, since the higher pitch of the click won't be damped by the mass as much.

The g80-3000 in black has thick POM caps, much nicer IMO, but of course no good for this GB since you can't dyesub black POM. If you could somehow get them to sell you some of those blank as a GB... yummy.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

Will be using the same ones as before. Cherry doesn't do mixed materials in standard production models. PBT set have 100% PBT key for all.

It's the Zhuyin Fuhao phonetic system (Bopomofo) which as far as I know is only still used in Taiwan.  Much easier to say Taiwanese rather than Wade's Giles Zhu Yin Fu Hao Traditional Chinese Bopomofo phonetic layout :P

The difference is in legends themselves. HK and some Taiwanese keyboards would have Cangjie legends, which is a shape-based typing system and China uses just the English alphabet to phonetically type out Chinese characters (Pinyin).

I'm not familiar enough with what other Chinese speaking countries use to comment on their keyboard layouts

Veeeery iiiinteresting... Man knows his Cherry boards. The reason I thought they were ABS is that the surfaces look and feel quite different from the the thinner caps and don't feel as heavy as I would expect. Also the thinner ones all have PBT printed on the underside, whereas the thicker ones only have numbers. I suspect the difference in surface texture and feeling is due to the thicker molds being older?

81681-1

Well, I learn more every day from you guys here at GH, don't know why I didn't do the water test before now, though. :D

Yes the thick molds are older, still same ones from the 80's I guess. Easiest way to get a blank POM set would be to buy a G80-3000LPCXY or XX if you prefer an ISO.

The green and black one is Arabic. I was trying something, but it clearly didn't work. I do like the font and colors though. I'll be reworking the mock ups so they are all consistent and correct before I finalize them and start up the actual buy. Some of it is placeholder as I just tossed them together quickly to get some feedback.
Only 104 ANSI sets are available. Other key sizes can't happen right now as they don't exist from the supplier.

The US/RU gothic looks amazing. With regards to the US Code Pro, will the modifiers and such be in all caps? I'd pitch in money to pick up the lower case Code Pro font if you decide to go that route Ivan.

Yeh the free version only has caps letters. I might poke around some more and see if I can find full font 'somehow'. Or I guess I probably have some other very similar fonts that don't have that particular problem I could use instead.

I think the more traditional font works better instead of the straightened more linear looking set.

can the cyrilic set have two font colors only? main font 1 color, cyrilic font 1 color.

also, the arabic set, main standard font black color, arabic font 1 color.

the hebrew should be dark green while arabic is dark blue.

I'm not sure I'd call the Arabic font more sleek looking.  The classic  font looks nicer, IMO, even if you do a different color scheme than Cherry.

I agree, this is a very important detail.

If a correct caps lock key can't be guaranteed this time, I'll have to pass. I still haven't used any of my four R2 sets because of this issue :(

But why the grey modifiers, especially with the problems with some sets. I really liked the all white Miami for example.

Sorry I know it's come up multiple times but Ivan any word for certain from imsto on the color of full touch caps lock? Will it come in beige this time?

I agree, this is a very important detail.

If a correct caps lock key can't be guaranteed this time, I'll have to pass.

+1   This is a must for me.

I wonder why they would even make it in the wrong color to begin with?
Yeah I never understood that. Couldn't be a mold issue as it's just a color right? Weird.

+1, I do not think I will participate if it is the wrong color.
Please consider carefully before you decide to comment, for Jesus.

hmm, if i recall correctly, ivan did mention about the capslock issue when he mentions that he is using different supplier for this round.
also that capslock's off colour wasn't what ivan wanted either, it was the manufacturer's fault or something, which i can't remember the details already.
i believe that issue bothers ivan more than anyone else  :p

btw, love the hebrew set, but also waiting patiently for the improved mock-ups (for the hebrew numpad section, will the Home arrow PgUp sublegends be spelled as it is or will it be different? i absolutely love the dual-tone on the numpad!) and the KO/JP mock-ups  ;D
