Title: [GB] HolyOOPS Aluminum RGB Keyset (invoicing)
Post by: feng on Thu, 15 October 2015, 14:37:12: I got the idea of aluminum RGB keyset about 2 years ago but things didn't work out back then due to high costs on production and the lack of confidence on selling such high priced keycaps.

I've been working with HolyOOPS for about over a year now and the idea of making aluminum RGB keyset started coming back to me when I knew they can manage to maintain the costs on producing such keycaps at a relatively low level. Not to mention the reputation of high quality products they're known for. So I talked to them about three months ago and asked they to make some samples for me which turned out pretty satisfying. After several modifications on the original samples during the past months, now we're finally ready to push it to the market.

Specs:
Cherry profile
1.5mm thickness
Top printed and blank versions will be available.
1.25 set includes: 2x 1.25 Control, 2x 1.25 Alt, 1x 2.25 Shift, 1x 2.75 Shift, 2x 1.25 Windows, 1x 1.25 Menu.
1.5 set includes: 2x 1.5 Control, 2x 1.5 Alt, 1x 2.25 Shift, 1x 2.75 Shift.

GB Prices will be even lowered when we have certain amount of orders. e.g. 200 pcs.

1.25 keyset (9 keys included, retail price $89.50)
GB price $80
$75 @200pcs
$70 @300pcs.

1.5 keyset (6 keys included, retail price $64.50)
GB price $55
$50 @200pcs

Shipping:

US – USPS First Class ($3)
US – USPS Priority ($6+)
International – USPS First Class ($12+) (shipping to Canada costs about $3 less)
International – USPS Priority ($35+)

There might be additional charges on shipping if your order contains more than 1 set.

This group buy is exclusive on GH. So we have to have enough orders on GH to reach lower price tiers.

I doubt many people will invest this much money into a mod set, when they can almost get a GMK set for the same price. But I don't wanna be negative - let's see how it goes :thumb:

I would like very much a grey version, I imagine to use it with a blank, white set. So nice.... At least in the hot of the summer.
And... you know about that small 1.25 shift that iso uses.... How many orders could you need for that?

Since when, stating a fact is being negative?. Do not apologize for it.

Mechanical keyboard stuff is already overpriced, even in its more "standard" form, these caps are very nice, but of course they are in the upper side of the luxury stuff for keyboards. What you wrote is totally true, and you choose GMK as a reference, which is already top of the line, I really hope for those interested in these sets that they reach MoQ, but some of us simple cannot justify these prices.

in case anyone else was looking for some pics to help visualize how these would look on a board, i found dangwang's pics of niqmods. note that niqmods weren't alu. they were painted abs caps and are probably quite a bit more glossy, but you can still sort of get an idea of how these alu mods will look. :)

feng, do you guys happen to have any overall board photos with these alu mods?

ducky and filco both have oem profile on their stock caps

and these are cherry profile, similar to imsto caps or those caps u would find on old cherry keyboards

The anodization is supposed to hold up for at least 3-4 years, as long as it's not used right under the sunshine.
If this group buy goes well, we'll considering providing more options including 1.25 shift in the future.

It's Cherry profile, which is the same profile as GMK's keycaps.

It does affect the switch a little bit, just not as obvious as zinc and titanium.
