It's alright, looks a bit too matte to me. I figure if I am buying a $500 keyboard I want it really really pretty.

He only got it for $225 I believe.  This was the only one that was made as a special order :)

$225 + cost of keyboard ($110-120) + soldering/desoldering labor ($50) + optional things like switch modification, switch change, stabilizers, etc.

Oh right, but I wouldn't add the cost of solder labor!

Nearly $350 at most!  $500 is almost the cost of LZ's keyboard I believe.

Yeah exactly. It's funny cause demik told me that this is his new favorite switch and that he has forever sworn off inferior blue and green switches.

Other than, it seems, having lots of $$?

I guess I don't even see the point of the MX Brown switch personally, you can't feel the tactility when typing at any real speed.

Yes, that's correct.  Try posting in Classifieds.  Boost is selling his MX mini (if it's still there lol).  Good luck.

That mini was gone within an hour, and although the KMAC was from a DIY Group buy, most of them have already been assembled, get into the club by meeting people on www.kbdmania.net, or build a strong enough reputation on here and network with the Korean members here. Money is one requirement only because they are more expensive than your regular filco, ducky, or leopold, but even posting in the classified with ridiculous prices for the kmac (500-600) won't get you one, as you can see...

It's a mystery why it was put on there ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
